Wenger Confident Of Rosicky Goals

Wenger Confident Of Rosicky Goals

After two outstanding strikes from Tomas Rosicky on Saturday, Mr Wenger believes he can emulate the feats of Lujngberg & Pires of a few seasons ago.

Rosicky's sumptuous strikes helped dump the FA Cup holders out of the competition, however they were his first goals since he opened his account with a screamer away to Hamburg in the Champions League.

Now Arsene Wenger believes he can go on to become a prolific goal scoring midfielder.

'He can be like Ljungberg and Pires,' said Wenger. 'Together they scored 25 goals a season and that is worth a lot of points. At the moment we haven't had that and it is important to get it, especially in games like [Saturday's] when the strikers get a little less service. It is important that goals come from midfield.'

'Rosicky can score more goals because he is quick, he has good timing and he is very accurate in his finishing. I think he puts too much pressure on himself to finish and he sometimes rushes his decision making. I hope this will help him to be more calm in front of goal.'

AW also thinks the lack of goals can play a little too much on a players mind, thus making the situation worse.

'Sometimes the best thing is not to talk about it too much because it can make a problem of it,' said Wenger. 'We have just tried to tell him to relax because he wants to do so well.'

'He is a very good player and he has shown that again. He is mobile, clean technically, a quick decision maker and I like him very much. He also has a very helpful attitude for the team, he is happy playing on the flank because he wants to help the team.'

he can definetly get more goals, but i dont think he can get as money as robert did, hes just not as natraul in front of goal as robert is, tomas has never been prolific but he can offer so much for us hopefully he can reach about the 8-9 goal mark each season, that would be a decent return.

Hleb and Rosicky seem to be linking up nicely. I don't think they'll ever be as prolific as Pires and Ljungberg were but they are certainly going to make a difference in the coming seasons.

I think he is one of the most acurate strikers of the ball in our squad, he just needs to shoot more. That right foot is lethal!

He certainly hasn't balooned any embarassingly over the bar from my recollection. I think we'll see a number of long range wonder goals from Tommy Gunn.

I don't think that we will ever get that return from Rosicky or Hleb as the team isn't like they used to be and neither player is the same as their counterpart. Only time will tell...

he certainly likes to score, and having seen him the world cup I am surprised it has taken him this long to add to his 1 goal. ofccourse inury hasn't helped, but he looks settled and bring a totally different dimension to our game, much more direct and looking to score outside of the box, perfect !

Ithink what would be interesting to seewould be the figures for bobby pires'goal return before he joined arsenal. It may be ther case that you might find that he was not a prolific scorer from midfield before joining the arsenal. A team's styleof play can most definitely alter the amount of goals a player can score. Given time, you may well find tomas doing those very similar bobby runs into the box, nipping home.He has the same sty;le of play to do it, that much is certain.Hleb too,i can see his goal return increasing, along with the experience and familiarity of the team with each other... »»Arsene Knows««

good point wiingston.. rosicky can.. and i think he will turn into the 15 odd goal-scorer per season.. he has scored 3.. but he has hit the post sooo many times.. and once these moves start finishing.. he would be right up there in the goal scorers list.. his technique is awesome.. unquestionable.. its just a matter of time..

u r right wingston, tomas will be definitely 15+ goals per season player. He might not pouch goals in front of the box but he will finish far more than the meager average so far. He can create as much as he scores. Hoping for a "beautiful friendship" between him and hleb.
