Wenger: We Love You Freddie

There has been plenty of rumours in recent days regarding the future of Freddie Ljungberg.

West Ham, Inter Milan and even that team up the road they call Tiny Totts have been reported as showing an interest in the Swede.

West Ham were believed to have been in advanced transfer negotiations with Arsenal, with a fee in the region of £7Million being bounced around.

It was then reported that Ljungberg was furious with Arsenal for dumping him and he was demanding that he be paid all the money remaining on his contract.

Arsene doesn't normally like to respond to transfer speculation but such is the intensity of these runours that he felt he should set the record straight.

'There has been much speculation about Freddie Ljungberg in the media over the last few days,' Wenger told Arsenal.com

'But given his dedication and contribution to the team's success since joining the club I feel it is important to state that Freddie is a valuable member of our squad.

'Although I can't predict the future, Freddie's experience and winner's attitude means he still has a lot to offer.'

although some of us wouldn't mind getting 7 mil for freddie, he's been arsenal through and through and is due the respect shown.
G4L
I think it is about time we held on to experienced players to bridge the gap since Paddy, Dennis and bobby left. Now is the time to use the experience to further bed in the youngsters. We still have a long way to go this season! Emkay

Apparently the Olympic swimming team are after Freddie as well. Sure to at least get in the medals with him as the diving instructor!!!
Blade1889
Why on earth would they want Freddie? He is no diver. Although apparently the Oylmpic boxing team are after Chris Morgan. They saw his body shot on Robin Van Persie and decided that he has a lot to off in terms of turning boxers from sportsmen in to mindless thugs.
simmy8_2000
I hope we keep Freddie, he never stops trying and as G4L said he is Arsenal through and through. As for diving you must be related to sp.rs Blade1889 you are a Richard Cranium.

thats the first i have heard of freddie as a diver. he may complain alot but i for one have never seen him dive and if you can point me to the game where he does (willing to put money that you cannot BLADE1889), ill where the poo shirt. you must be watching a different team. dont knock quality coz with your team you probably have no clue what it looks like, feels or smells like.

the guy deserves a testimonal. he's been a legend here for almost nine years now, and it'll be sad to see him leave. but i think le boss will give him one more chance, this season and next, to prove his fitness and recapture his old form, and i am sure he will..
luckys_10
go to hear wenger wanting freddie , so nothing till end of season.
PUREGOLD
Wenger sounds a little non committal there, "Although I can't predict the future" etc, he's being quite evasive. I think we should sell up, but wait until the summer. No point in upsetting the apple cart during the season.
Little Dutch
I think he may want to sell him cause he gets injured all the time. But i hope he stays, we need some experience in the middle of the park. He's good at defending, positioning, keeping possesion, passing, and diagonal runs. I just hope his shooting gets back to what it was.
thenry009
though freddie is clearly not the player he was a couple of seasons back, i dont think arsene should sell him. we need all the experience we can get, and even though he may not start regularly, i also think he still has something to offer. mebbe he will also benefit from the rest like henry did, and come back stronger.

Is there any truth to reports that freddie was surplus to requirements, and told to leave? or is that just the media printing rubbish?
