'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clichy Working Hard To Replace Cole

Since Ashley 'I almost crashed my Bentley' Cole buggered off in the summer, Gael Clichy has stepped up to the plate like we always knew he could.

After spending many a year in the shadow of Ashley Cole, then a year dogged by injury, Clichy is finally getting the chance he so richly deserves, and the boy is doing well.

'I have to keep working hard in training because I know how quickly things can change in football,' he said.

'Maybe tomorrow there will be some new left-back and Arsenal may want to sign him - so I am working hard to make sure that the boss does not feel he needs to go out and buy someone else in the summer.'

'My first two seasons here were good, but Ashley was there so I was on the bench a lot. Then last season was difficult for me with all the injuries.'

'But now I am just enjoying the time I get to play on the pitch.'

Ashley Who??

i like the attitude of the kid. still on his toes even though he only has traore as back up. i think he's shown some promising signs this year and things look good. I have a feeling he will be much better than Cole ever was for us.

Do you think Arsene deliberately targets people who look the same to take over from the old position? Pires/Rosisky, Cole/Clichy/Traore, um running out of examples.

already u can see that he is nearing cole's level of game play.. he'll be the best left back in the world in the world in an year or two.. atleast much better than cashley chump cole.. and this is the kind of attitude u must have towards the club that finds you.. nurtures you.. and makes what u are..
