Robbed Of van Persie

Arsene Wenger has admitted Arsenal will be without the services of Robin van Persie for at least 6 weeks.

van Persie broke a bone in his foot scoring the equaliser against Man Utd at the Grove on Sunday, and the gaffer says the injury is worse than first thought.

'We have lost Robin van Persie for a while, how long, I don't really know. It will be six weeks at least, if not more.' Said Le Boss

'It is a big blow because Robin has been on fire. He has had a great season until now. What is really terrible for me is that I did not want to use him at all.'

'But we were 1-0 behind and I decided to put him on. However he got injured and you can never predict that.'

The loss of RvP is a massive one, but a loss that could present the opportunity to one or more of our players to establish themselves in the first team.

I susspect that if you gave Robin the chance to turn back time and avoid injury but not score the goal, he's take the broken bone everytime.

Well done Rob & get well soon!

When Bobby got injured in 2002 ,albeit a bit later in the season, we all remember Freddie's scoring run guiding us to the double...perhaps the Beast can be that man...also..that season we signed a top class centre back from one of our rivals...anyone see a pattern?

Henry and Ade, they seem to be good mates, Ades' sunny disposition seems to be great for team morale, loved his dancing b4 the second half at Chelski ha, would'nt of reckoned on seeing Henry shake his thang 6 months ago either!!. I know they have'nt gelled too well previously but this will change, watch this mutual admiration transform itself into net ripplers!

what a freak injury I say. how did RvP break the toe I have no clue. Shame, he was on a roll. Maybe this will spark the Beast and Ali to produce when called upon.

i am dying to have baptista play!

I think it was Thierry that injured Robin when he was celebrating the second goal...When Thierry is running along the touchline, he turns abruptly and Robin is right behind him. At the point Thierry turns and trods on Robin's foot, and van Persie stumbles...I think thats when the injury occured...

Beastly beast !!

the injury to RVP is a massive blow but hopefully it gives the like os ade, the beast n aliadiere n chance to step up n show us wat they have to offer. i think once Baptista is given regular starts he will consistently produce the form that bagged him 50 goals in La Liga n the 4 at Anfield

big blow, we'll miss him more than henry maybe when he was injured. lets hope he's back in time for the last eight of the champions league and hopefully we'll be there..

i had been wondering the same thing - initially i had thought that RVP had sustained the injury whilst scoring the equaliser...»»Arsene Knows««

well not as bad as some were reporting, some were saying 3 months ! he is a big loss, especially his goals this season, but that is why we have sqauds, and the depth of ours means the likes of baptista will get more games, even walcott.

Foot injuries, see Joe Cole, always take longer to heal than anticipated. At least it was for a good cause!

RVP WAS on fire, big loss !! I'd like to think this is an opportunity for Ali to show us if he is the real deal or not. But there is a general feel good feeling with gooners. If this injury had happened a month back, we'd all have been shattered, but its now more a chance for the backups.

Not sure what all the fus is about. It's a bone on his RIGHT foot which I do not think I have ever seen him use!! Personally I'd be more worried if it was his left foot!

RVP was fantastic this season he got some match winners but he also looked shaky in some games i know it is a very huge loss but we have Adebayor,Beast and Theo so i dont think we will miss him that much. at the moment we need our midfielders to be 100% fit and also our backfour which i think will be a great back four when Gallas returns
