RvP Surgery As Injury List Grows

RvP Surgery As Injury List Grows

Arsenal`s injury list did seem as though it was beginning to subside as Diaby, Adebayor and Henry returned to fitness.

Unfortunately the injury list has once again started to grow with the news that Gallas has suffered yet another set back and Robin Van Persie has had surgery on his injured foot.

As it stands the following players will miss Sunday`s game with Bolton: Willam Gallas (thigh), Robin Van Persie (foot), Alex Hleb (hamstring), Eboue (ankle), Ljungberg (hamstring) and Djourou (hamstring) and you can add Gilberto to that list as he is suspended.

"We have so many that my memory is not good enough to remember them all," said Wenger.

Wenger also says that Gallas is going to need to be more patient in his return to fitness to avoid further injury: "The biggest problem is to fight his impatience," said Wenger. "He has had two setbacks because he tried to rush back.

"And I feel we are guilty of helping him to rush back. I will take the needed time now. My biggest worry after such a long injury is that he needs to be really ready.

"He should be back in two to three weeks but I still would not like to put any set time on it."

A little bit off topic, but has anyone seen Mark hughes comment on the Savage tackle? saying it was awfull and even hinting it might have been intentional!!!

We'll be lucky to see him back before April, on the Gallas front Wenger is still refusing to put a time on his return, he has now had two setbacks regarding his thigh strain caused by attempts in training to get him back in the squad, still probably a month :(. Aliadiere has recovered from his knock and is being named in the squad to face Bolton, hope he is'nt started though - I think hes still too hit and miss, fantastic in CC against the 'Pool but too often ineffectual.

well with RVP and Hleb out, maybe baptista and Walcott will start more for a while :)

I'd rather see Walcott come off the bench, but with the sudden lack of wingers he might have to start. Or maybe they'll throw Rosicky on the right and Henry on the left...that'd be a twist. Probably won't happen though. Half of this hinges on the formation of course, and I'm not sure which they'll go with in this game.

The news about Hleb is gutting...just when he was pulling the strings he pulls his hamstring...People underestimate quite how important he is to this Arsenal side and the integral part he plays in that creative trio of him, Cesc and Tomas...I think we're likely to see The Beast operating in a starting position on the left with licence to roam into the box in a similar fashion to Freddie in his prime with Tomas on the right...

how long for freddie? Walcott isn't good enough for midfield yet.

I too am a little bit worried about Theo, he will I feel be a very good player for us but at the moment he does seem to be pushed off the ball too easily. I worry that he might start to lose his self confidence, perhaps he needs to be used just off the bench or perhaps use him mainly when the first team need a rest; I know in general that is how he is being used at the moment but I would worry if they decided to use him in the first team as a starter in every match. I've replayed and replayed his movements down the right wing and balls passed to him but he does seem to lose them whenever a bigger player tackles him. These comments are not meant to undermine his ability but just as an observation.

Gallas and Hleb will be back in time before our Champions League campaign returns, and Freddie will be ready for the next league game..
