Parlour shoots... Awww Ray Parlour!

I would just like to take a moment and honour one of my all time favourite Arsenal players - Ray Parlour.

The curly-haired ex-Arsenal midfielder was recently released by Middlesbrough boss Southgate, and until he finds a new club, guess where is he going to train?

Mr. Wenger said on Arsenal TV Online:

'He wants to get back to full fitness and I offered him the chance to come and practice with us, but I will not be signing him, as you have seen last night at Tottenham we have some good young players in the middle of the park.'

I have some very fond memories of Ray Parlour in his dozen years in the Arsenal shirt. He was never going to put in less then 110% effort in a match and although lacking in skill, he made it all up with running and tackling... and scoring some amazing goals. The pick of the lot for me would be the screamers against Valencia at Highbury, and Chelsea in the FA Cup Final, and his (unfortunately disallowed) 30-yarder for England.

I read somewhere that one of his fellow players at Boro said that the first thing Romford Pele would ask after a match is the score of the Arsenal game. True Gooner.

One of the most deserving people to wear the red and white and a true Arsenal legend. always a fan favourate, he'll always be loved by the Arsenal faithful all over the world, and wouldn't it be great to see him wear the red and white just one more time..

HTG, the pr*ck can't stand up after the glorious victory against Southend, but still drags his hairy fat arse to his 1980s computer and dribbles, what a virgin.

We've mentioned Parlour as a possiblity to replace Sav in the Rovers midfield until he returns. With limited funds a player of his quality with experience would fit the bill. Sparky would know a thing or two about him from his battles on the field with him so if he could get fit in a matter of weeks and not months I'd happily see him in a Rovers shirt for the rest of this season at least, although I read he thinks he's more likely to drop down a league to carry on playing before moving into coaching with you guys?

HTG is a poof, gives it larges when they win, cries like a baby when we go over there and pull his trousers down and laugh..
PUREGOLD
nah he won't drop a league down HDM, next season three teams will gain promotion, and every one of those three teams will be looking to sign in, and i won't be suprised if the likes of reading or wigan go in for him. Ray is a class act, a great professional who'll always give you more than 110% wish he was a few years younger, would love to see him play for us again..
luckys_10
the mighty spurs, only knows how to bully lesser teams,a huge deflection for keanes' first goal and a very classy punched volley for the second by jenus, quality, cant wait for wednesday!!!
fran merida
I know Watford were said to be keen on him. If he can do a job (although Bents didn't do a bad job filling in for Sav ysterday, although with respect to Luton we'll face tougher tests than Luton so that'll be the test to see if Bents could fill the void?) then as I say I'd welcome him.
