Gallas To Miss Derby Game

Arsenal Captain William Gallas will not make his return from injury this weekend when Arsenal visit local rivals Tottenham 'We'll do it next year, next year, next year' Hotspur.

The French centre half had been expeting to return in time to face the old enemy, but he will now have to wait for the return match to do battle.

On a brighter note, another Frenchman will return for Arsenal. Bacary Sagna has recovered from a back injury sustained against Manchester City so he will return to plat at right back.

Arsene Wenger delivered the news to Arsenal.com on Thursday afternoon: 'Bacary Sagna is available again.

'He still has some pain but he should be OK if needed.

'However we won't have William Gallas available because it is too early for him.'

Damn I was hoping he would play. Oh well we will still beat them. Whos going to partner Cesc in the middle since Bert will be CB?

Bert to CB is a no brainer. Him and Toure make a very stable CB pairing. Sagna/Flamster at RB, Clichy LB with Almunia behind them is as good a back 5 as we have. Hleb at RM, Thomas at LM, Cesc CAM and it'll be a straight choice between Diaby and Diarra for CDM. If Diaby had the defensive mindset of Vieira I'd say risk him, but he doesn't and I don't think he's disciplined to play it yet which is a shame as he could become a real midfield enforcer. Unless of course Arsene thinks about playing 5 in the middle - Hleb, Thomas, Cesc, Diaby and Diarra with Eduardo up front. That will contain the Spuds and it did us well a couple of seasons ago in the Big Cup.

sorry to disappoint you michael but it will be Flamini in the middle, especially if Bac slots in at RB.

i hope le boss dosen't play flamini again and i think he should give diarra a chance after the two formidable games with france

Can't see us starting with Diarra quite yet, though he may be on the bench. The only sensible choice is Flamini to take over Gilberto's role, and he bloody deserves it - he has been excellent for us this year.

you should all pay a visit to the spud vital preview and see when lacking footballing arguments (and obviously brains), how the racist, xenophobic vitriol comes out to surface. A disgrace. I wonder if they have editors or are they just the same.
