'If It's Football, It's Vital'

For Arsenal Youth Read Chelsea

On Wednesday 22nd August, Vital Chelsea ran an article entitled 'For Chelsea Read Arsenal', in which our lovely London neighbours had a little snipe at the fact our home game versus Sparta Prague had gone on general sale (You can read the article Here.)

The Lotto Chavs reckoned we were due a bit of stick after slating them for always having tickets on general sale. Despite the fact that this was a second leg qualifier in which we were already 2-0 up, in a stadium with 20,000 more seats than their hole, that actually sold out anyway, they still thought they had a point.

Now, can you guess where I'm going with this?

You bet your arse you can.

Last night Chelsea faced Rosenborg in the first game of the group stages of the Champions League at Stamford Bridge. Despite advertising this fixture on general sale, the Chelsea faithful only managed to russle up a pathetic, yes that's pathetic, 24,973. When you consider the capacity of SB is a more than adequate 42,000+, then this really is a poor attempt.

Now, if you look back to earlier in the year, the Arsenal youth team faced Man Utd in the semi final of the Youth FA Cup. Demand for the game was so high that the fixture was moved to Ashburton Grove the accommodate the Gooners.

When you bear in mind that this was just a youth team game, the fact that over 38,000 Gooners were in attendance on a night that the first team squad took on Aston Villa at Villa park (all sold out on a weekday night btw) is just astonishing, putting the Chelsea boys completely to shame.

At the end of Merlin's article, he enquired if anyone 'had any humble pie?', well I think for this one we'll need to build a brand new humble pie factory, complete with 100's of employee's working overtime till Christmas day.

BTW, the picture that accompanies this article was taken at last nights game :P
I liked the idea the Chelsea fans had of going in fancy dress last night. I can't believe that 18 thousand of them had the same idea to go dressed as blue seats.
Humble pie shares have just gone through the roof. A flagrant case of insider dealing.
Quick, someone tell Usmanov, he might invest his money elsewhere. Pathetic support, and I see Vital Chelsea are working overtime in trying to validate the empty seats with about 10 articles this morning on that very subject. Quite sad really.
Damn right Rocky - the cheeky buggers were asking for it, although I suspect that in the eyes of folk like Merlin and Lampard, pies are no bad thing!
I would in no way have a go at any single supporter for not attending a game, indeed since the birth of my son I've not been able to go to any matches, but for every Gooner who can't attend a game, there is another one to take his place. As a collective, the Chelsea support is balls.
It's even more pathetic if it's true that 6,000 of them were Rosenborg fans!! The Humble pie would be welcomed though - I hear they are trying to Lampard back in shape !
18,000 dressed as blue seats!! Love it!! Are the Chavs now officially a club in decline or is this a full-scale 'crisis'?
Well done Rocky. Although I would not like Vital Arsenal to stoop to the levels of vital chelsea on a regular basis just to get a few hits, this article is something they asked for.
I only dish out what is 'vital' prits. There's no way I could let this one go by.
Just a thought - how many eggs do you need to make a humble pie?
Andy - neither, if you believe vital chelsea. They would have you believe that there is some sort of economic crisis affecting only 'true blues' stopping them from going to European games in addition to PL fixtures.
LOL Rocky, nice pun.
I'm looking forward to tonight. Tell the Chavs that i'll be able to talk to the person next to me in the ground without the need for a megaphone. Perhaps it's the attractive football that makes us want to go back every week:)
Like i said on vital chav yesterday, how comes Chelsea had to play a game behind closed doors?
Hey Iceman, did you see that that comment got mentioned in an article?
hs, stuff of a legend!
You're too kind G4L.
hatespur, I think they are not using megaphones nowadays there. Actually, I am quite certain that mobile phones can be easily borrowed from some of their playing staff.
And did you all know that they reduced there prices as well!
Shucks guys, I really honoured you've run an entire article about my apparent folly! I guess I had it coming, as they say, all's fair in love and war! As for the picture, gotta admit it's pretty good - should be I took it myself! As for crisis, as Supertramp once said - Crisis, what crisis? Not be long now before you're part of a Russian empire though will it chaps! As for the 10 articles Rocy, when did you start counting in BINARY?
If sniping at my obvious exageration is all you've got Merlin, you're in pretty poor shape. A bit like your support. Anyway, tune in to SkySports tonight and watch some proper football.
I just saw it Rocky! At least they took my banter like men and didnt threaten to kill me, insult my family or be homophobic and racist like they do on vital Sp*rs whenever you dare to go over there.
Rocky - Sorry to hear fatherhood has stopped you going to games, however, I think you'd agree its enriched your life in so many other ways! As for tonight, I'll stick with Sky One and GLASGOW RANGERS thanks!
I must confess that I have had a bit of banter with them today and received no vitriol too iceman. Fair play.
Right, I'm off to the tavern for a few guinnesses before settling down for some proper footie, c'mon the reds!
Little Dutch
merlin, are you watching Rangers so you can convince yourself that there are teams that play in blue to a full house??
I have to go to the Wig and Gown tonight LD. It's a right dump.
We will rise again ! COYC!
Don't start all that Spud thing after your posts Kevin.
Kevin are shouting COYC? lol
should read: kevin are you shouting COYC!?
I think Niko's is worse Andy he will need fumigating!
I was waiting for this one
LOL kev, the COY is infectious eh
**A serious note** I actually like that the Chelsea boys can give and take banter that solely focusses on football. It does get a bit heated at times but it's ALWAYS football. As it should be. And Merlin, I wouldn't change it for a club level season ticket mate!! I'll hopefully get back to my travelling ways next season, but at the minute I can't justify spending 100 per trip when the little man already needs a whole new wardrobe.
Rocky, wait until you have another one. My eldest is starting to badger me about coming over there now...GULP. He is only 3.
I think that will be something that swings match tickets in my favour HS. If I tell the wife I'm taking him down to London for the day and she can go shopping or on a girly night out while I look after him, then I might be on to a winner!!!!
Wait until you got three and a grandchild Rocky - third world debt springs to mind - what did you call the arrival by the way?
Ahhh, but you've gotta pay for it me old shiner:) In all seriousness, if both of mine want to go i'm fecked. We have quite a few season tickets between our group, but most of us go to every game.
After doing a legends tour of Highbury stadium with the awesome Charlie George, there was really only one option.....espcially after the wife knocked back the name Arsene!!! And grandchildren? Gimme a break man, I'm not even 30 yet (just).
My daughter's called Charlie but I can assure you it's not after Charlie George :-)
Mine are Charlie and Freddie.
Charlie Nicholas?
Right, i'm off over the Home of Football (well, the new home of football). C U boys tomorrow.
Have a good night HS, be lucky!!!
I guess they have egg on their face, the whole lot of them: fans, players, and of course the portugese omelette maker himself!
Oh iceman, now I'm unworthy of capital letters? I just had to give it a try, and yes, really pathetic. Not really inspiring either. I went to sleep(seriously) a few minutes after that post. So no, it will not be my new "thing".
Stamford bridge pitch officially a desert 4 years ago i guess somethings stick
Even Mourinho has left the building now. Apparently he's picked up his Special P45 and left!
Wyn Mills
If anyone saw some of the highlights of the game you would know why so few people went to the match.....very boring.
In order to be the biggest club in the world as Chelsea aspires to be, you've gotta be able to draw more than 20,000 home supporters to a Champions League game. Christ, that's what Toronto FC is drawing in the MLS, and we haven't scored a goal in ten games! Jose probably left due to the shame of seeing so many blue seats during an actual game.
