Stan Board Man?

Stan Board Man?

The Sunday Telegraph is reporting that it has 'learnt' that the Arsenal Board are set to invite Stan Kroenke to take a seat on the Arsenal Board.

The newspaper reports that the Board discussed the possibility following a meeting between Kroenke and themselves, which took place last week, and that bringing the man known as 'Silent Stan' closer into the fold will be a good measure in preventing a hostile takeover of the club by Alisher Usmanov.

This is far from concrete, and no hard proof is offered.

Coupled with the fact that earlier last week, Peter Hill Wood was quoted as saying that talk of Kroenke joining the board was a bit premature, speaking thus, 'I don`t know about that - that is a long way off.', and it looks like this could well be a wild stab in the dark on the part of the sunday paper.

However, if it is true, it would be a remarkable transformation in the way Kroenke, holder of a 12.19% share of Arsenal, is viewed by the Arsenal Board, who initially eyed him and his motives with great scepticism.

I don't like how close Kroenke is getting to the board...seems like that fat russian has allowed everything to fall into Kroenkes plans.

I do have this wondering question, when deceatful dave sold his shares to the russian rascal, now forgive me lack of knowlage on how the shares market works, the board should have known what his intensions and plans were going to be,so why the heck didn`t they go out and buy up all the loose shares that usmanov has now purchaced to up his stake in arsenal, then they wouldn`t be in this postion to have to arse lick to the yank to keep him sweet so he wont do anything with his percentage??

Could it be a master conspiracy forged by the tango man? Surely DD must have had an idea as to the reaction of the board and fans when bringing a man in as unpalatable as Usmanov? Perhaps its just been a clever ploy to bring the board and Kroenke together, I mean what if Usmanov gets the hump, and ends up selling his shares to Kroenke? Just a theory but i still dont get how a man of DDs supposed acumen and foresight could not have predicted the reaction to Usmanov's involvement...

I think Dein's 'acumen and foresight' is a bit of inflated mythology that he has created. His business history has more than one failed venture and dubious choice of partners in it. Just as Fizsman, and other former 'friends' came to see through Dein so has Kroenke. Kroenkes 12.2% replacing Deins 14.5% on the board restores the balance and Kroenke is no less trustworthy than Dein is. He may in fact contribute more as a director than Dein did. It could spell the end for Lehmann though - Stan 'Board'man doesn't like Jeeermens!

arsenor - the lock down agreement signed by the Board not only prevents them from selling their shares, but also from buying additional shares. If Kroenke has expressed his intentions not to enforce a take-over, I dont see a problem with him being invited to the Board. He does seem to have experience in the sports industry, and if he can add more value to the Arsenal business, then why not? But it contradicts everything we know abt the man - he is supposed to be hands off in his sports investments, so I do now know why he would want to change that for Arsenal. Not to mention the Trans-Atlantic flights to attend Board meetings. So I doubt this rumour. As long as Kroenke is on the Board's side, the immediate danger will have been averted.
