Wenger Happy Looking Down

Arsene Wenger has expressed delight at the consistency continuously being shown by his young Gunners

Arsenal overcame a shaky period in their 8th Premier League game of the season to claim their 10th consecutive win in all competitions.

van Persie fired home Arsenal's winner in the latter stages of the game after Roy Keane's Sunderland showed some resilience to bounce back from 2 goals down to be level at 2-2 going into the last 15 minutes.

However Wenger is more than happy with the way his charges handled the situation.

Wenger said: 'I'm pleased we are back to the top. At 2-0 the game looked easy and maybe in our minds we lost a bit of urgency and gave them room to come back.'

'It was a test of our resilience and quality. I think Robin's winner was deserved but they had chances as well. You can say that we passed it a little bit too much, but it is our game and we still scored three goals.'

'We lacked a bit of sharpness. It's always difficult after a UEFA Champions League game, so if you get the three points it is good.'

'It is important to be top because it is better than chasing someone who is 10 points in front of you. What is very good for us is we have won seven and drawn one in the league. That shows consistency and stamina. It is down to us if we want to win every game.'

After being informed that we would struggle for goals after the arrival of Thierry Henry, it's good to see that BOTH our strikers are sitting pretty at the top of the scorers charts. And a quick reminder.....AG told me at the begining of the season that RvP was not a 20+ goals a season man........you reckon he'll make it now AG?

How much have we missed Henry??? so much....

are liverFool still in the title contention?
fcdematthew
like i said in the other post, ade and rvp will be 1,2 in the scorers chart this season. fabs to lead with assists. its very comforting to know that goals have not dried up for us, despite what others said at the start of the season. we just need to get our defence to concentrate for the full 90minutes in games such as this and we'll be right.

And we still have a game in hand. BTW, who is that against?
darinb007
I think the game in hand is against Newcastle.

I don't think Liverpool are title contenders, neither are Chelsea. Our game against ManU early in November will be very important. We did the double on them last season - let's hope we can do it again...

Shocking form. Shocking for other teams that is. Wenger once again has proved many a reporter and footie fan wrong, looks like your team is ready!
