Micah Would Take Arsenal Opportunity

Manchester City whizkid, Micah Richards has expressed his desire to one day wear the red and white of the Gunners and play for the team he supported as a boy.

Speaking with lads titty magazine 'Nuts', Richards also revealed his reasons for being a Gooner.

'I was a big Ian Wright fan when I was younger, so I supported Arsenal,' he told Nuts magazine.

'Wright and Patrick Vieira were my idols so yeah, if the opportunity came to play for them one day I'd take it.

'But right now I'm concentrating on trying to keep City in the top half, and we've got the players to do it.'

We have money, we need a centre half, the best one in England is expressing a desire to play for us. What happens next?

Do the words ''value for money'' mean anything to you...couse they`re Wengers motto!

Micah's words should be exactly the inspiration for AW to go out and spend a few quid. This is one of the rare ocassions that I wouldn't mind paying over the odds for an English player.

You don't think he would provide value for money rdc? Even if the kid costs £20M, he's still very young and could play top level football for well over 10 years.

The only thing is Rocky, Man Yoo paid 30m for Rio the duck, so I dread to think what this lad is worth.

But Man Utd always get ripped off.....Wenger knows how to drive a hard bargain. I speculate we could get him for £20M, and that would be a good deal in my eyes.

yes, i think 20M for him is good value.. a bit expensive, but with FIFA pushing for the home-grown player rule, i think he will be a good buy. he can easily spend the next 12 to 13 years playing top class football at Arsenal. so, 20M sounds good deal to me.

Where do you get 20 mil from? A caped player at 18? I would say it would be close to double.

No chance in hell, sorry to be the voice of doom - but the only way we'd get him is on a bosman.

So that settles it then - he's going to Chelsea.

Is he any really that much than Djou or Phil..... Is he worth 20million....dont believe everything the media says. Just look at how well the worlds best midfielder(bighead StevieG) is playing at the moment now that he is back playing in central midfield.

We have the money and have spent next to nothing, so paying a bit over the top for somebody who can give us that extra something that makes the difference between champion and also-ran is worth it for me. He can still play for years, and with Kolo would next to him we'd be impossible to beat. The stuff that dreams are made of...

I agree with Rocky here. It wouldnt hurt to pay over the odds for Micah. He has been fantastic in the centre for Citeh this season. I'm not sure Wenger will go out to sign him, nor do I think he will move soon from Citeh, coz the opportunities he is getting there right now will not be available in the big 4 clubs.

If the transfer fee's over 20mil then forget about it, I have no intention of breaking ManUre's highest record transfer fee for a FLOP.

stukazufuss, I wasn't aware you were incharge of transfers at Arsenal. The £20M fee was just a speculative figure on my part, I figure that any club in the world would find it hard to turn that sort of money down for a teenager.

A fantastic player, but I'm not at all convinced Wenger would be willing for that kind of outlay when we have four decent centre halves already. Then again, he still went for Diarra and Sagna when their positions didn't really require strengthening. I wouldn't be unhappy, but I very much doubt he'll come here. I think Chelsea and United are more likely destinations in the near future.

couldnt see you getting him for less than 30 mill!! do you seriously believe that man city would be prepared to let arguably their most prized asset go for A poultry 20 mil-no chance, keeping in mind he's english which for some reason ups the price! man city would never sell, and if they did, they'd take whoever the buyer is to the cleaners.richards will be staying put for the next 3-4 years unless 35mil + is offered

Although I strongly doubt that AW will pay 20+ on Micah, I rate him highly and believe he could be a fantastic addition. Gallas has a couple of good seasons left in him (if he stays injury free) and Micah could well come in and plug the hole if he ever left. Automatic 1st choice before Senderos any day.

I think with Sven at city, Wenger can surely workout a deal with him for Micah for around 10-12 million plus a player. Arsene will surely not pay 20 for him, but if he also wants to come here, and Wenger wants to get him, i'm sure a deal around 12 million will workout, so lets wait for next summer to see what happens..

I would absolutely love for this to happen. Hes a great English centre half. But saying this theres a very little chance that AW would want to spend anywhere near what this lad is worth. But im going to hope for that little chance;)

I could see Arsene splashing the cash in this case, although it is "against type". Mostly due to the fact that: Micah is young enough that although he will cost a fortune, his value will surely not DECREASE for many years... He's big, athletic, and talented. He could be the new Sol, I could certainly see that.

Micah is to short to be the next Sol, he will be more like a new Toure. And BTW how much did we spend on Toure? Do you really think we will spend 100X more on a 18 yo?If he really wants to play for Arsenal , the only way I can see it happening is on a bossman, otherwise is chelski all the way for him!

I'm with Rocky, at £20Million Richards would still represent money well spent. However, I can't see Wenger spending anywhere near that much on the lad, which is a shame, because he's a fantastic player. This is also the second time he's expressed a desire to play for the Mighty Arsenal. Come Arsene, just this once. PPPLLLLEEEAAAASSSEEEEEEEEEEE.

to be fair rocky, £20mill does sound a reasonable price for him and represents good value for money i think! Apparently talks on a new contract are stalling because he wants a clause to let Arsenal sign him if they bid for him.If wenger was to go for him he might involve a swap with senderos or djourou going to man city but unfortunately i dont think we will see Richards in an Arsenal shirt

micah would beef up our defence for sure, but would wenger spend 20m for him. probably not. i think this summer, he would get another bargain player that no one's ever heard of again, and perhaps a "flair" up in attack.

Make that this winter, supersof. Depending on the injury list, and our position in the Premiership and CL. I can see Wenger dipping into the transfer funds in January for some cover.
