Traore Is Arman-d

Armand Traore has said that he would prefer to stay at Arsenal and be the second choice left back rather than go on loan, although is willing to lend himself out if Arsene thinks that would be best.

Traore arrived at Arsenal in a cloud of mystery, but left no mystery to how good a player he is with a string of excellent performances running up to, and including last seasons Carling Cup Final.

The French defender showed he is wise beyond his years after speaking with the official club website.

'I have spoken with the boss (Arsene Wenger) and he has said the position of official second-choice left-back is there for me.'

'It doesn't mean it will be always there, though. So I must just keep trying hard in training and when I am asked to play, just show that I can do it.'

'I think I am going to stay at Arsenal and still try to keep improving every day in training. I wanted to do that rather than go on loan, but when I speak to the manager (in future) and he tells me that it has to be done, then of course it will be done.'

Having spoken with someone with extremely close connections with the club, I am assured Armand has the ability to go on to be better than Arsenal's current left back, Gael Clichy. Only time will tell.

any team in the EPL would love to have armand on loan, but for our sake i hope he stays put and perform for us in the carling and fa cups. that will leave clichy to concentrate on epl and CL. such an exciting player to watch, but then again, all our youngsters are.

Ohhhhhhhhhh AR-MAND TRA-OOOO-RE!
Goofle
he has ridiculous pace and is a bit more powerful than clichy...i wish we could field them both
anonymous
Quality, quality player. Im still yet to see him have a bad game
ArsenalRob
yeah, Clichy is great! Especially at the beginning of the season. If Traore is better, wow!
afri-gooner
What a refreshing attitude too. Take note Mr.Bendtner.
hatespur
Exactly hatespur. Nobody has a divine right to play, only Bendtner seem to think he has. Traore is probably one of the most exciting talents at the club, everytime he gets the ball he excites. Once he hones his defensive skills he will be an absolute ******** star!!
Rocky7
I could kinda understand it with Bendtner a little more if Ade and RVP were not doing the business and he wasn't being given a sniff Rocky. Fact is they are both playing brilliantly so why change things? Traore is obviously humble and intelligent enough to understand that Clichy deserves to play at the moment and his chance will come. As I have said it's very refreshing and not knowing players as people as we seemed to more in the old days it is public comments like this that we rely on to familiarise ourselves with the boys. And comparing this attitude to others we can only warm to the lad and hope he gets a chance at some stage. Top bombing Armand.
hatespur
Totally agree hatespur, Bendtner needs to adopt the same attitude if he is going to get anywhere.
AB_Arsenal
yeah, his mentality is great, you can see the humble team player in him that is the hallmark of our current squad.
afri-gooner
I think we are going to have 2 of the best LBs in the world in a few years time:D
afghenry
Actually we could try to field Traore as a LB and Clichy as a Left Attacking Midfielder. Now THAT would be powerful!
stukazufuss
It is really weird how we have always been blessed with great left backs.
hatespur
Traore can come out and say something like this because he knows we're a bit short of cover at the back le boss can't afford to loan out anymore defenders.
MeetTheGunners
We need cover for left mid... I wonder if clichy would be any good there. But not as his full time position. In the same way that gilberto drops back to CB, and we have cover for centre mid, maybe Gael could push up to LM with Traore covering at LB when Tommy is injured? Could be a completed disaster though.
ArsenalRob
From what ive seen if u was gonna but one of the two at LM it would be Traore he looks like hes got more natural skill than Clichy , plus Clichy has not got the abilty to finnish at the moment. where as Traore has got a solid left boot. but its all Hypothetically Speaking
Jaybods
We should keep him and not send him on loan...he'll count as homegrown and trained at the club. :D
entropy13
If such a situation arose, then Clichy at LB and Traore at LM will be better, coz Clichy is better defensively. Traore is doing well for the reserves right now, scored a couple of goals already, one of which was thundering long range effort. So, a CC spot is definitely his, but I will wait till later in the season to look at his progress. His defensive skills need improvement, but he is more than good enough to be cover at the moment. Fantastic attitude.
prits
Gibbs would be a much more suitable LM than Gael... Anyhow Gael is a solid LB, as is Sagna on the right, with Toure and Gallas in the centre, its a solid defense.. Give Traore time to develop a bit more :) Arjen Robben terrorised him in the carling cup final and he still might not be ready for the first team

OMG van persie got injured in his country's international game, can anyone bring anynews about his injury?
princeoflove909
Yes, for the love of anything that's good, please give us any news of his injury especially the length of time he's going sit out. He had twisted his knee. It looks bad.
BMF
this is why i hate international games being played during a season. just when rvp getting into form, he has a setback with a knee injury. can anybody shed more light on this pls? might have to depend on eduardo for the big games coming up to link up with ade.
