Drogba: Arsenal Are Favorites

After Didier Drogba's stunning statement about his Chelsea futures, the Ivorian has now installed Arsenal as title favorites.

Whilst the Arsenal have gone from strength to strength at the start of this season, Chelsea's fortunes have differed somewhat leaving the former Champions lagging 7 behind the Gunners having played a game more.

And Drogba thinks our focus and style of play leaving us at the top of the pack.

"When you look at this season in terms of the Premier League it doesn't look so good at the moment, because Arsenal are head and shoulders above us all and totally in charge of their football.

"I don't care about the weak start to the season we have made at Chelsea because there is an awfully long time left to compete for the title and, though we might be in a delicate position, I totally believe that we can end the season as Champions.' stated Drogba

"The threat from Arsenal to all the other sides who think they might have the title in their sights is that they were already a team which played great football but we can all see that they are both more mature and more effective now than they were before.'

'Even though I expect Chelsea to be capable of winning the league, I have to elevate Arsenal to the top group of favourites for the title because of the way they are performing right now."

Me thinks Drogba has learned a thing or two from Jose Mourinho about deflecting the pressure from his own team mates!!!

Maybe he wants to join us! i wouldn't mind him at all...
nah, we've got a younger version in Ade, who'll go on to be better than 'the drog'... »»Arsene Knows««
I think I preferred it when they all wrote us off.
Me too HS because I still think this maybe one season too soon for us and then we will have more negative comments heading our way if we don't win the title.
Rocky, what more can we possibly have in place next season that we don't have now? We can play scintillating football or grind out results, apart from Lehmann the team spirit is good, and we have strength in depth. Looks promising to me...
i don't disagree afri, my concern is if we lose a couple of key players at key times. Like RVP missing now. It's ok playing the likes of Slavia Prague, but we'll need to cope at Anfield and against Man Yoo. I just prefer to air on the side of caution and try not to heap too much pressure on the lads.
i'm with you on that, hs. Don't hype Walcott up too much etc. But all sides will loose key players now and than. I'm sure we can deal with it, even if our performance suffers a bit. And we don't have to win EVERY game to clinch silverware!
All is going swimmingly now afri, I just want to see how we cope after a bad patch before I claim we will win the title.
Beating Liverpool, United and Chelsea mean nothing. We did all that last season and got no where. Arsenal are passing all the tests picking up points against teams we dropped points at last season. Liverpool and United are a bump and lets face it, the result will mean more to them than us. If Arsenal take 6 out of 6 in the next 2 weeks then suddenly we are running away with it. If anything Liverpool and United will NEED to beat us or face a team that will become unstoppable.
Hi all.... Long time listener, first time poster. Got to say, beating Liverpool, Chelsea and especially Man U this season is going to mean everything. From all indications it seems that we've ironed out the 'bugs' with regards to dropping points where we really shouldn't. Unbeaten so far is well beyond what I was hoping for bu the season has really only shown that yes, we are winning the games that we should win - or at least not lose. My thoughts are that the real test of our gumption and how much the team has progressed since last campaign will be i the upcomging matches.' Onwards and upwards' is my belief!
I agree with Trennon on this, don't forget that we have already been with out key players for this season and coped very well, Gallas, Ade, Gilberto can't even get into the team at the moment so I would not worry so much about injuries unless we loose 4 or 5 players at the same time.
I agree with Trennon and's not against Chelsea and ManU and Liverpool that we have big problems...our big problems were the 16 other clubs in the league. That was where we had a hard time last season. That's why our fixtures so far aren't really "easy" in that sense...
But we seem to have coped with those problems this season and we're simply on fire..! It seems the next games has indeed more bearing, points-wise to Liverpool and ManU than us. In terms of coping with the results, I'm confident the players can pull through.
agreed, rocky, that will be interesting to see, and could be our undoing, and only a fool would say that the title is ours, but I don't think it's too soon. Two 4th place finishes is enough transition, and the team has been together long enough to achieve something.
Drogba at the beginning of the season wrote us off, and said the only challenges to CSKA Chelski were to come from the Mancs and the Scousers. Oh how quickly people change!
this arsenal team knows how to beat liverfools and utd, because they have done so in the past. we are not playing unknown entities, we know them, we dont have a daunting record against these teams (in fact we beat them last season) so there is no great mystery. i strongly believe the lads will show that it doesnt matter who our opponents are, all that matters is OUR gameplay. in arsene we trust.
We'll see. Sit in the slipstream and let the favourites take themselves out. It's happened before and it'll happen again. Hopefully 07-08.
i prefer us being the underdogs. How attitudes can change quickly, and all we can do now is get the right results at the pool and against manure, to stop people starting to think that it has all just been a fluke.
i dun want us to be favourates. i want us to be champions. so lets do the talking next may and just keep our heads down and continue with our football..
putting us in an underdog position at the start of the season took the pressure completely off the lads.. and they have now put in some sumptuous performances.. aint worried abt the pool and man yoos.. all i can think of is that the title will be won at the likes of evertons, blackburns etc away.. those are the games that matter.. and yeah.. arsenal's track record against the top clubs is just too cool.. and we ought to remember that we kicked arse last season in the elite fixtures.. i just hope the lads keep their heads on the ground and not fly too high..
But the mancs are grinding out wins too! This is the most pleasing bit: that we can grind out wins against Bolton and so on.
everyone wrote us off before the season started and we have started off flying, now we are being touted favourites with a qtr of the season played. its a long way to go, i like it when we are not favourites and have a point to prove, but maybe thats what the team are doing now and proving all those doubters wrong !
one bad result, and we're underdogs again, and everybody will say "told you so" etc, so you can be happy. I'd rather keep winning and be the overdog!
Afri, sneaking up on everyone as we seem to have done so far is exciting, but I like the OVERDOG status too.
Warri Gooner
I dont really care for what Drogba says especially when he means to pile the pressure on like this. Bring the Chavs on - I would dearly love to kick the crap out of them.
Andy-bayor never beat chelsea last season, you lost to chelsea n drew twice...get it right.
