Russia will not win. they have been talking too much crap and seeking all the media attention. from the coach to their players, every1 is coming out and criticising england. their eye is not on the game. anyways for the sake of our club and le boss, i hope england will qualify, otherwise all the blame will fall on wenger and arsenal for having too many foreign players in the league..

Well done Theo, man of the match and glowing praise from the manager. Too bad for England that he is not in the squad for wednesday, but McClaren won't pick him anytime soon.

I hope Russia win and England lose. They don't deserve to win at all.

what an irony.. that same bunch who wanted foreigners out of the league had to depend on foreigners to get a lifeline.. lucky for us israel won.. now leave THE ARSENAL alone

Well done Israel. I half wanted Russia to win but when there was a chance we wouldn't qualify somehow the patriotic side of me kicked in. I hate the England set up but the idea of us not qualifying was hurting me deep down. I was cheering like mad when Israel scored, which is weird coz I wasn't fussed before. Theo IS a striker. He terrorised Bulgaria.

It's amazing how some people twist things, I personally have not read any post where someone (or at least someone with a brain) have said they wanted foreigners out of the league. What I have read is comments about the amount and quality of foreigners, which just makes wonder why that statement needed to be made

Topspur1, if Arsenal had at least 5 English starters like derby county and derby county had 0 English starters like arsenal considering both clubs current position in the premiership table, do you think FIFA/EU/ Blatter/FA/ Fergusson/ Mourinho/Gerrard/ Arsenal-haters would ask for foreign quota in the premiership?

Probably not! But I was comment on McGooner warped view on the debate, I think most real football fans would like to see the standard of English players improve. And I don't believe anyone object to quality foreign players, they have lit up the PL. Players like Berkamp & Henry, Cantona, Ginola, Zola, Ronaldo, Drogba and Fabregas. But just because some of us have a concern over the amount of foreign players, it does not make us anti foreigner

Toprspur1, well all I can say is that some of the comments simply illustrated the outright stupidity of some Arsenal fans. If England fail to qualify for Euro2008, this will ACCELERATE calls for restrictions on foreign players as there would be an even deeper period of navel gazing going on in English football. England qualifying would be the biggest boost Arsenal could get to retain the current status quo. Doh!!!

bring on the quota...I really don't care. Its never going to happen anyway. All am saying is, the quota-calls are mainly to get more english players playing at Arsenal. Like forcing Arsenal to play english players. 2 or 3 years ago, Arsenal had only cole and campbell as english starters, there were no severe calls for quotas then. There were vast amount of foreigners back then too. I hope england qualify, so Arsenal can be let off the hook. Soon there will be a generation of english players at Arsenal and the next call will be a quota for non english managers....

There goes ES's high horse again... I would like to say that some comments simply illustrated the outright stupidity of some spurs fans, oh wait, one spur fan, unless you also count Gromit/Kernowboy/Sir Harry. I don't care whether England qualified or not. People, especially those anti-foreigners bandwagon, talk about England national side like they have the same quality like Brazil or Argentina. If english players are such highly rated, why don't they go aboard to league like Le Liga or Serie A? Look at Bundesliga, they have abundant foreigners in their league than Spain or Italy but their national side already have qualified for Euro 08. England had to rely on Israel. They are in this mess cause they are arrogant and having a crap manager like McClaren.

If foreign-limit is introduced in the EPL then I would like salary cap introduced as well. I would like to see if the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelski and also, tiny tots to surivive without spending more than 20 millions pounds a season for players.

I really think the qutoa idea would be bad for the game in England. How could clubs justify the high ticket prices if they didnt have the players worth paying to watch?
