Arsenal Table Striker Offer

Arsene Wenger has tabled a concrete offer for DR Congo striker Tresor Mputu, according to the players agent.

The 21-year-old African has recently completed a 10 day trial at Arsenal. Wenger had already stated that he was impressed with the youngster, but it now seems he has shown just how impressed by tabling an offer in December.

Mputu has been compared by some to Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o because of his sharp movement and lethal finishing. Only time will tell if that's the case.

However, Arsenal are not the only club to have shown an interest in the youngster, as his agent explained: 'While Sevilla have also shown great interest, I believe Tresor will end up in England.

'Arsenal have given TP Mazembe until Monday to respond to their offer and I’m convinced that the deal will be completed after the weekend.'

Does this mean that Arsene Wenger has lost faith in one of his strikers? With Adebayor, Van Persie, Bendtner, Walcott and Eduardo already fighing for two places, this would surely mean that someone has to either switch posistion of leave the club? Six players for two posistions? I can't see it.

i think that wenger ll purchase him and not sell any of our strikers at least for now cuz he is very cheap so i think wenger can take risk of buying him and not having the pressure of playing him,and if anyone of our strikers was to leave i think it would be bendtner although i wouldn't b happy if that happened

hmmm.. interesting comment.. i dont know if he's lost faith or something.. it is too early to lose faith in dudu.. and the others like walcott and bendtner have more or less impressed in cameos whenever they have come one.. ade and persie ofcourse are brilliant.. might be more of the case that maybe he thinks that this new guy could be used in some other position.. anyways.. if indeed he has tabled an offer.. then ofcourse he's seen something we havent.. lets wait and watch.. another brilliant youngster to look forward to........

i wouldnt want bendtner to go.. he has shown in flashes what he can do.. and he was involved in both the goals for us against wigan.. strong.. fast for his build.. excellent in the air.. i think with a bit of experience he'll fit in anny squad out there.. hope he stays.. and i am waiting for wenger to give him more playing time..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKuWBHx1llQ&feature=related he does have a touch of the etoos about him. Check the goalies celebration when he scores.....best ever!

21 years old... Maybe he's a purchase for the future, not posing immediate competition to the 5 strikers we already have? The most seemingly "unsettled" one is Bendtner but I agree with you guys that he's got a future and don't want him to go.
Louisa
Thanks iceman, good goal, but the opponents were apparently not strong in defence. Yeah the goalie's celebration's very funny!
Louisa
Never hurts to have a big squad so long as the egos are kept in check. He may plan to rotate the team more frequently in the future.
Gunners
Its most likely that Walcott or Vela would go but surely Mputu aint better than them two?
Goofle
With Vela apparently coming back in the summer we won't be short of forwards. It depends on how flexible they are in playing within the fluid system we have. At the moment there isn't a great deal of difference between our midfield and our forwards.
Amos.
ADEBAYOR! ADEBAYOR! one nil...

great start! (touch wood)

Where exactly is he from? The last thing we need is another player ******** off every two years!!
Rocky7
hes from congo...
HENRY`14
crap !
HENRY`14
im disappointed by a draw...v needed a win !
HENRY`14
seems we're dropping off towards the end of games, which puzzles me as most of the guys on the pitch have reasonably fresh legs.
JakeB
What I hate is that geriatric purple nosed old soak Ferguson was proved right about our point dropping - did he offer that walrus Allardyce a KFC bucket? nevertheless a point is a point, kept waiting for us to step up a gear towards the end but we looked pretty knackered, Bert was well off tonight and Dudu played no real part either, Diarra continues to impress though, onwards and upwards though folks, 3 points is a must now against Gareth Relegates' mob.
nikolaijns
Well inlads, shame that Diarra didn;t get the man of the match but Sky wouldn't dare do that ;-) Fully commited and we should have had two clear free kicks at the end. All in all, a good point. We would have lost that last season. Lets keep real and not expect to win every game.
Goofle
Think the game shows that with Hleb and Fabregas out at the same time, we just aren't as good going forward as usual. Diarra and Bert are both defensive midfielders and can't link up with forwards as well as Fabregas and Hleb. Let's hopefully have them and van Persie back and ready for the remainder of December, that's what we need to wish for.
Gooner_Vin
Who's out for the Arsenal x Chelsea game?
k_chelski
i would take out walcott, i think he sees theo as a right winger. i would then say he possibly sees RVP as left wing too or more deeper like DB did. more of an attacking midfielder. that would leave Adebayor, Eduardo & bendter plus the new guy... so not as bad as it seems... remember if rosicky or hleb are out we have no natural cover for them and with theo being so young he can wait a year or two before becoming an every game regular
PUREGOLD
Patience kev, we'll get to you after we beat Boro 1st ;).
prits
With Vela coming next season, I think at least one or two of our strikers might be off. Bendtner perhaps.
WouldYouBelieveIt?!
Maybe RVP's constant injuries are going on Wengers nerves?
afri-gooner
I think Wenger buys good players even when he doesn't apparently need them. Like Sagna. Like the collection of central midfielders we have. Mind, Hleb, Rosicky, Diaby, Flamini, Gilberto, Diarra, Denilson, they are all central midfielders.
Gaga
You just know he's going to be another sensation whenever you've never heard of a player Arsene Wenger is looking at.
rangersman
Arsene said today that IF he signs this kid, he'd be more of a signing for the future, no quick fix.
