Arsene eyes Bulgarian

Arsene eyes Bulgarian

Reports emanating from Murdoch Towers reckon that Arsenal are poised to sign the young Bulgarian winger Nikolay Dimitrov.

The 'Starlet' (I thought that title was reserved for up-and-coming young female movie actresses, who, being beautiful and fresh of face, most of the directors would be 'coming up' , were the lass to want to successfully land the role...), who is 20 years old and plays for Levski Sofia in his native Bulgaria, is something of an unknown quantity to me, but what I can exclusively* reveal is that he is 20 years old and plays for Levski Sofia.

Gooners will be pleased to hear that he plays on the left side of the midfield. Levski, so say Sky, have confirmed that Arsenal have made an approach for Dimitrov, whom they wish to take on trial, and Levski have accepted this offer.

The people at Levski would seem to rate him very highly, and hold him in high esteem, with the Levski coach Stanimir Stoilov saying,

I am very happy for him, he is young and very talented.

before showing how interest in one of your players from Le Boss is viewed, seemingly as having done a good job developing a player in the right way, as he went on

The invitation from Wenger is quite a tribute, not only for the player but for the club also.

We'll have to wait and see if anything is firmed up with this, as with the Tresor Mputu situation. But is seems to suggest that, despite public uttterances suggesting otherwise, Wenger is still very much on the lookout for players who can help improve the squad, whether immediately, or in the near future...

* Actually, this is about as exclusive as Tesco value chicken kievs...

I wouldnt bother with Mputu to be honest unless we are going to sell Eduardo or Adebayor. We are getting Vela after all. This guy looks good on youtube, hopefully we sign him.

Obviously Arsene is looking to reinforce the squad, and I guess that being forced to play strikers and central midfielders out wide on the left makes the boss uneasy. I do think that our priority though is ot get Djourou in January, as losing Kolo for 6 weeks would be unbearable with such thin cover at CB.

wingston there is nothing wrong with tesco's kievs, except when you insert the fork in the wrong place and get squirted with garlic butter !

Well our wide midfield really needs shaping up, Rosicky and Hleb aside. But I'm beginning to think that our answer may lie in one Abou Diaby. Though his trade position is in the centre, we've seen some top midfielding by him as a wide man no? But I can't help but feel there may be a hidden agenda behind this little piece, maybe Levski Sofia is spouting cr*p, so as to arise interest from other clubs and pocket some cash in the coming month.

Arsene is always looking for new, promising talents, irrespective of how well the team is doing. Curious though, that they have actually invited him on trial. I'm sure the scouts would have taken a proper look at the kid.

Does Arsene ever reveal his targets until just prior to the signing? If he's allowed Levski to announce this then he's either not interested or the contract document has already been signed. Let's hope it's the latter as playing Eduardo out wide left means we play effectively with only 10 men.
