Gallas Happy With 'Lucky' Winner

After scoring an injury time equaliser against Man Utd at the Grove earlier this season, C'pn Billy Gallas went one better today and scored the only goal of the game to secure a vital victory over his old club.

William Gallas headed the winner in first half stoppage time as Chelsea 'crumbled' to only their second defeat under Avram Grant (coincidentally the other game they lost was also to title rivals). However the Arsenal captain felt there was a tinge of luck in his goal.

Gallas told Sky Sports 1: 'I was really surprised to see the ball come onto my head but sometimes you have to be lucky.

'Today I was a little bit lucky as Petr is usually a good, good goalkeeper.

''But it is more important to win and I feel the boys did need to win today against a good team. Everybody knows Chelsea are very strong.

'We know we now have six points (advantage over Chelsea) and that is very important.'

But lets face it, who cares if a fifty stone badger ran on the pitch and nodded in the winner? Three points is three points.

Happy ****ing Days!!
TR7
Happy days indeed TR7!! I was worried prior to the game having watched United scalped the Mickey's, but upon seeing Hleb's inclusion in the starting line up, I felt much happier. Roll on next Saturday!!

The thing that made me so proud was to see how much fight there was in the team and also brilliant to see RVP Come on aswell, and always nice to hear the jeering Cashley got all match aswell
TR7
Come on Billy !!! :)

Majestic header, had to be him. How embarrassing for CSKA London they get caught with their pants down tapping away like Fred Astaire then when the deal eventually goes through at the final hour we shift an irritating loyalty free weasel who attempted to defend the indefensible in childrens' morality tale 'my defence' and we land a captain fantastic on the cheap. Anyone for Karma?
nikolaijns
I'll have two doses of that Niko.......One for Ashley, and the other for John Terry!!!!

Wenger had this to say about Billy - "I believe as well that Arsenal is a special club where it takes sometimes a few months to be penetrated by the spirit of the Club. I think William this season has taken that completely on board, and he's completely the leader because he represents how we want to behave." How true !

keep going strong billy.. i'm sure ur gonna lift something we've been waiting for some time at the end of the season.. if we can add europe to that as well it'll shut all those out there who question wenger's status as one of the finest this country have ever seen

I have to say Clichy looked to have played a blinder from my limited knowledge :)

Good win, Glad you beat them. But I wouldn't get too excited about it, Its only Chelsea after all.
R.K
They all played well against a pretty aggressive and physical team. Billy G, you rule mate! Poor old Cashley. He's probably crying in his Bentley as we speak!

Yes karma! After luckily staying on the pitch for recklessly challenging Cesc, John Terry got injured in a tackle by Eboue, who later got taken out by Joe Cole, whose much less effective namesake had sent Sagna flying earlier only to be challenged by Adebayor and then get caught by Cesc, who he even dared to push in the face, at the later part of the game. So check the bill, we lost a replaceable RM to injury while they lost a captain. And yeah, forgot to say, Cashley's got the biggest dose of karma today for leaving his childhood club over money and avoiding coming to the Emirates last year. Look at Gael and Gallas and I don't know what he's thinking. Oh, did we also get 5 million in that deal? Gallas is worth paying an additional 5 million and see how Arsene got the better deal again. Now that is karma!

brillinat result, should of been 3-0 in my opinion, terry should have had a RED CARD for a shocker of a tackle, and nancy boy Cole didn't look happy at his treatment and lashed out his handbag at every given moment.. fat frank, how this man is called class is beyond me, he is just an overpaid championship player who just got lucky.. lesson over for today, grant isn't the answer and chelsea have no answer without drogba. RVP looked class as soon as he came on, cesc bit rusty but still superior to anythign chelsea had, thought clichy had a huge game today and so did flamini, well done boys, now bring on the spuds.
PUREGOLD
He has been amazing for us this season, scored some really important goals.
AB_Arsenal
How many goals has he scored? The only thing I know is that they are all important ones. Keep it up :D

You buggers were in fine song yesterday, me has to say. Or maybe the volume on the telly in the pub in Thika was too loud? Naah, you buggers were in fine song. Library? What library? Keep doing it like that. I don't think even the Kop or the wharfside (that's what it is, no?) at Pompey could do any better than that.
Gaga
"But lets face it, who cares if a fifty stone badger ran on the pitch and nodded in the winner? Three points is three points." Yeah, a Frank Lampard own goal would have been nice.
Little Dutch
Top result... keep it up lads

gallas is a champ. great captain.
supersof
I think Arsene's right in saying that he wouldn't jump in a position past Cech as he would have thought he could have caught the ball. But our captain still tried his best and, in case a mistake happened, he was there to take advantage of it. Arsene used the word "striker" to describe that attitude of trying his best. Hats off to our captain!
