Arsenal Face AC Milan

The Gunners have been handed a piss easy draw for the first knock out stage of the Champions League after being paired with the current holders.

Never being a club to do things the easy way Arsenal face AC Milan over a two legged clash in what is arguably the tie of the round.

Champions League second round draw in full:

Celtic v Barcelona
Lyon v Manchester United
Schalke v Porto
Liverpool v Internazionale
Roma v Real Madrid
Arsenal v Milan
Olympiakos v Chelsea
Fenerbahce v Sevilla

a real midfield battle. but wengerball, if played right, will get the better of these ageing italians. Mattuso vs Gattuso and Cesc vs Kaka. bit early for this i know but wenger will play 4-5-1, so who will be left out of attack?

Actually , I am ok with this. I think our style of play will upend the defending Champs. In fact I am more concerned about this weekend than Milan. Ramos has already made an impact and Spurs are a tighter unit now than under wobberly Jol.

Also Rob, he doesnt have to leave anyone out. If everyone is fit then, although i know it's not his best position, stick RVP on the left and move Tommy Gun into central midfield alongside Cesc. keeps everyone happy, and we still have one of out most influential players on the pitch.

You'll be facing the Dinosaurs huh? Put your best defensive midfielders to block Seedorf and Kaka. The milan team dies.

itsup4grabsnow, yes i was thinking that, but with so pirlo, kaka, and gattuso, would wenger not want to play cesc, matty and another DM? maybe not...

Flights to Milan booked, £33, nice one. Though I think Liverpool are playing Inter away the night after we play Milan away, which doesn't fill me with joy.

I think you could do them, use your pacy attack against there old men and they won't stand a chance. The only way i can see milan getting through is if Ancelotti packs the midfield to stop the supply getting to van persie etc. And even then I'd have you down as favourites.

Am I alone in feeling fully confident about this game?? As long as we dictate the pace, then we will win. Simple!

I went to watch the Milan-Roma Serie A game quite early on this season at the San Siro. Roma beat Milan and generally were the superior side and my friend and I commented that on this showing we'd fancy Arsenal to beat Milan if we drew them in the Champions League. The positive for us here is that if we lose we can get out of the CL early and focus on the PL. If we win it will give us amazing belief and confidence to go on, much like the Real Madrid win a couple of seasons back. Anyway, we like the San Siro don't we...?

It will be a great match over both ties and I can see Arsenal winning quite comfortably. the only problem is that AC Milan do not care fot the Italian League so they rest many players, if not all of them, ahead of Champions League games. Flamini and Diaby in the middle alongside cesc with Van persie on the right, Hleb on the left, Ade up front.

we have FA Cup Fifth Round before the Milan game. hopefully we get a weak opponent for that FA Cup game so that we can rest players and still win.

Yes tie of the round, if not the tournament, for sure. Can't wait to see how our youngsters perform against Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo. They are hard to beat and oldie Inzaghi is a cunning test for our backline. With our attack and their goalkeeper and aging defence though, I do fancy favourable results against them. Can't wait!

I like the headline on La Gazzetta dello Sport: 'Inter felice, Roma così così, Il Milan: "Pescato il peggio" ' which means: Inter happy, Roma so so, Milan: "it fished/netted the worst". Umberto Gandini of Milan also said something like "We've drawn the worst squad. Arsenal has an expert manager in Arsene Wenger, who has at his disposal an optimal mix of youth and experience. They are great at present and have a good future." Who's afraid of whom now?

i dont know if you guys watch seria A but milan have struggled lately with the style of roma who play close style to arsenal, last year rome outclassed milan in san siro and totti scored two great goals ! we need to be physical! we need to control kaka ! diarra with flamster in def. midfield and fabregas - hleb- tommy in attackin midfield and RVP up front, we gonna have them if we play our style ! we still have to make great atmospher in the groove ! THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO WIN IT ! COM"N YOU MIGHTY GUNNERS !

I'm pretty confident as it stands now (we're in good form, with skill, experience, youthful energy, hunger, stell and fantastic team spirit, you name it, while they're struggling in Serie A). The only worry I may have is how Kolo and Eboue come back from ACN when the fixtures take place in mid-Feb. MUST have them back unscathed and healthy and lively and raring to go. To be honest Ivory Coast is a really strong team in Africa and I won't be surprised if they stay in the tournament till the very end and get tired and stuff. That's the only thing that worries me, otherwise we're on the right track.

This was one team we could have avoided to be honest. They may be slow and ageing but they're ultra-consistent in Europe and they know how to win in the Champions League. Oh how i would love to have Barca if we get through.

this is wat champions league is all abt.. big names, big games.. n we get to meet the defending champions with the likes of kaka playin at emirates.. n somehow, i just hv a good feelin on this one as i think our stamina and 90 min running can do the job.. technically, there is very little to choose from btw the sides.

I think Arsenal's one of the best teams in the world now, strong domestically and in Europe. Some stats just a few weeks earlier crowned us the best, counting performances in domestic and CL. Milan's tough, yes. Look at last year and you see how amazingly hard to beat they are - when they arguably shouldn't even have been in the competition in the first place, with their points deduction reduced to just enough to join the qualification round. They weren't playing particularly well in the group stage, while Kaka almost single-handedly dragged them on. And Inzaghi, Seedorf and Pirlo found their form just before the key matches at the later stage. But having been crowned already, it's really hard to keep their motivation going, and quite a few of their players have been there, done that; whereas this is still the single trophy that we haven't won and really crave. So for some reason I just keep thinking how thrilled we'll be to beat the European Champions and World Champions. Fingers positively crossed. :)

awesome draw, though i was desperate for us to draw Barca. anyways lets hope we meet them in the semis or the finals. and coming back to this tie, i'm praying that when the Champions League resumes, i just want all our lads to be fit, everyone should be available, because with our best team, we can beat the european champions..
