Adebayor-gasmic

Best in the league? That's Arsene Wenger's view of Emmanuel Adebayor.

Le Prof is adamant that the all-action Togolese hitman is the top striker in the Premier League, and said on Friday, on Arsenal.com

Adebayor is the best striker in the Premier League at the moment, he`s mobile, he`s quick, he`s not scared and he`s brave. For me that`s a fantastic quality, especially in England.

He doesn`t get enough credit for his touch. He has good feet, quick feet, and is a complete striker. He can still improve the timing of his runs as he sometimes gets caught offside, and, just with that, he can score 10 more goals each season.

Two more goals in today's 3-1 win in what could have been a tricky away fixture at Man City see Ade's recent record standing at eleven goals in his last eight games - that is the total that many Gooners were saying they'd be happy for him to finish the season with, when we got underway in August. Ade's now notched 18 in the league so far, and if his proclamation earlier in the week that he's discovered the secret of scoring are true, then the rest of the Prem should watch out.

It's our good fortune that Togo didn't qualify for the ACN, as what with RvP being out and Theo still looking like he needs more time, we'd have been right up fuck street were we to have had to deal with being without Ade for a month or so.

Surprisingly, some Gooners still don't rate Ade, but surely the stats don't lie - he's at times been a one-man army and battering ram up front for us this season, has given us that all-new aerial threat we've missed the past few seasons, runs defences ragged. Blessed with pace and strength, and with a finesse that he's displayed in the past, he's going 'out-drog' the Ivorian striker at the Moscow State Circus. And while the Ivorian is 29, Ade is still only 23, and pretty much on a par with him already. The sky is his limit. We may be seeing the coming of a very special player, yet another Wenger master-stroke. The only thing that may stop him from reaching the heights he could do is, surely, himself - if he were to become complacent and think he doesnt need to work at his game. Fortunately, Wenger thinks this won't be the case,

He`s a strong character in the dressing room and a winner. He`s a guy who made mistakes at the start of his career, and has realised here that there`s another life rather than being easy.

He smells that he can win, and is a winner. When he realised that he could live in the big world of top-class football players it changed him, and today he`s a different animal, mainly mentally. He realised he wasted some time and it was time for him to be serious.

Another thing that bodes well is that he seems to click well with various different partners upfront. He plays well with RvP, he plays well with Eduardo, and looks like he might do something useful when playing with Theo too (in time...). He even 'connects' well with Bendtner (ahem).

Adebayor-daciously great headline!
Lou the Gunneress
wingston, that has to be the best adebayor headline
McGooner
This has been running for a while now, I think your esteemed site editor Mr Mustchin was the devilish instigator of these headlines.... I'm wondering how many more we can squeeze out of the English language :)

he's on fire and eduardos goal!!! i almost ejacu...ed then manu and cheslea both dropped points...what a nice day its been

i'm still a little gutted with the united equaliser right in the end, it would have been perfect if they would have lost, but then again, we top of the league, say we are top of the league..
luckys_10
Ade was fantastic once more today and we were in control bar one or two nervier moments at 2-1, citeh really deserved nothing from this with their longest spell of possession being when the home support refused to return the ball!, We'll forgive Gael his little indiscretion as he has been awesome all season, and Senderos and Lehmann were solid and made all the right moves. The only negative for me was Diaby who was caught dawdling in possession at least 6 or 7 times leading to promising citeh counters which with a half decent strike force could've punished us, less touches and more awareness Abou! Apart from that we owned em, and with Utd and the chavs dropping points plus Sp*rs ****ing up again, it's been pretty damn close to a perfect day.

I think the thing with Ade is that others play around and off him and let him do his own thing. He is strong, athletic, brave with great stamina and gets around the pitch quickly. He isn't really a finesse player but such is his self belief that he works on his skill and produces moments when he executes them well. He has definitely worked on his heading. Last season and the early part of this his heading technique seemed poor but that's no longer the case. At his age his touch will still improve and a very, very good player could become devastating.
Amos.
hes turning into a tremendous player and its hard to think of someone in the premiership youd replace him with probably torres is the only one that leaps out at you and that shows the mans class

great weekend. WE ARE TOP OF THE TABLE! too bad the great run has to be interupted by the stupid international games. hopefully no injuries from these meaningless games.
fcdematthew
lol arsene uses animal as an adjective to describe ade.....surely not
karley
He's the *********. Ive vented my spleen on him a couple of times especially over the bendtner incident, and i have said that in a few years Nik may be better than Ade is now, but on this form Ade is simply astounding and i'm happy to be proved wrong. He's giving ROnaldo a good run for top scorer, and i'm so glad that winker didn't score today!
Cesky
Let me rephrase thet - he's the mutts nuts!
Cesky
He's certainly the in-form striker at the moment and seems to be forming a great partnership with Eduardo (what a goal btw!).
adamski243
Just a little spike in the chelski tyre from your fav 2nd team here on the south coast. Diarra was awesome. Defoe did well too.
storagematt
So, when he doesnŽt try to knock his team-mates out, he can actually play aswell? feckin hell...amazing.

Much appreciated Matt! The Pompey Chimes Tunes - helping the Arsenal breathe more easily...

what was the song they were singing to ade today? couldn't hear it on the t
arsenal nutter
Hopefully Adebayor will overtake TH14 as Arsenal's all time record goal scorer. He should do easily if he continues like this 'till the end of his career. :P
Thing
He was awesome.. I mean he was fouled in the build up to that 2nd goal.. got up and ran half the pitch's distance to finish! Boy.. he is superb! Absolutely brilliant!
arsenalrulz4ever
The song is, I think, 'Adebayooor, Adebaayoooooor, give him the ball, and he will score'
Ozi Gooner
Couldn't really have been a better day though could it? 3-1 against the Manc's rivals only for them to drop points, but also break the little Spuds hearts at the same time, marvelous. Good on Pompey too, one of the few teams in the PL with any class besides ourselves and Villa doing the business over the chavettes. I couldn't bring myself to want the Tott's to win it so there was no better way for that game to go, robbed in the 94th minute. Couldn't have written it better myself. Now lets hope that Citeh feel generous and do us another favour next weekend by actually showing up to the game!
Ozi Gooner
I thought Ade was 24 now...
stukazufuss
best in the league NOT but maybe the one on form right now
ozanne park rangers
Love some of the reports this morning saying that Arsenal will struggle to keep Adebayor in the summer because AC Milan & Real Madrid etc are keeping tabs on him. They go on to say that Arsenal will be desperate to get him to sign a new deal but forget the fact he signed a new long term deal in may last year!! It's Amazing that whenever Arsenal have a player that has an outstanding season, the media in this country try to stir up trouble & unsettle the player!!
Ashburton Gooner
There's no doubt that he's on fire at the moment. I just want to be cautious at the moment because the truly great players do it on the biggest stages against the very best opposition. AC Milan, and the Champions League generally, will be a massive test and that's where we'll learn just how good Ade can be, i.e. where there's less space in the final third, where technique has to be outstanding and where you just get one or two chances and you have to take them. To that end, I actually think it's Eduardo who can fire us to Champions League glory - he can finish at any leve. Maybe that's our dream forward partnership - Ade and Edu!
Gooner_Vin
Thierry Henry now just a distant memory?
sandgroanun
I don't think we have much to worry about AG. Ade comes across as a humble type of guy who is greatful to have been given this priveledged position, he wouldn't move anywhere for a bigger wage and if it's trophies he's after, then its not as if we dont challenge for them. He also knows where he is loved, and considering the amount of times that Adebayor song got an airing yesterday, he feels the love.
Rocky7
He even said as much Rocky. Honeslty gooner_vin I expect him to star against Milan with their ageing back line his pace and power should be to much to handle.
Ozi Gooner
best striker in the league, but only as ronaldo is a winger. like benjani for us (well, for man city. well, for either of us, im not really sure!), ade puts efort into games, and is not soley based around scorring goals, although he does that well too, and is also an honest kind of guy.
pompeycarpet
R7- I wasn't particularly saying that Ade would leave, just pointing out that whenever one of our players is on form the media over here link them with a move away, which is unsettling for them. However you do have to bear in mind that Ade was playing games with the club prior to signing a new deal last summer & it wasn't much before Christmas that he came out & said he would leave if we don't win the title this season!!
Ashburton Gooner
Off topic - the Barcodes have finally scored through a Michael Owen header. Now they're gonna sing praise for their new era. Keegan's face was more full of relief than excitement. Wish them good luck.
Lou the Gunneress
And PompeyCarpet, congrats on the draw yesterday, though I thought you guys deserved to win; and thanks for holding Chelsea! ;)
Lou the Gunneress
all i could hear watching the game on the net was the adebayor song, what are the words though???
smiggyswfc
Smiggy, the song goes "Adebayorrrrr, Adebayorrrrr, give him the ball, and he will scorrrrreee!" Video here: http://www.arsepod.co.uk/wordpress1/?p=475
Lou the Gunneress
Great song - very true at the moment. His words are encouraging too - he has made a lot of mention about team spirit, and offering to buy the lads a drink was funny - what a nice bunch of lads. i can imagine them all off to the Krispycreme shop for donuts and cola, while MAnure and Chelski are all off down the dogging patch with stan collymore the dirty ****ers!
Cesky
Yeah Cesky - I also find the goal celebrations very enjoyable. Especially when the shy Eduardo scored that awesome goal, Cesc was like giving him a friend's push like "that's cool man!" and hugged him when Eduardo face was still telling you he thought it's just another goal he scored and nothing out of the ordinary. But even a cool guy like him was warming up to the team spirit. And after Flamini's screamer last week, did you see Senderos talking to Flamini or Gallas or Clichy like "hey how on earth did he do that?!" all astonished and incredibly happy for Mattuso. And Cesc's so quick in pointing to Bendtner and hugging him to give credit to his assist that made his goal that much easier to score. I can go on and on. Really special.
Lou the Gunneress
Thought it was "Adebayour, give him the ball or heŽll headbutt your own"....
Blue is the colour
BITC are you jealous or what? LOL I notice you go to a few other sites just to try and wind people up, even when nobody responds to you. Enjoy blue or whatever colour you love, i.e. get a life, instead of going to sites in other colours.
Lou the Gunneress
lol, he is a very good player, but i dont like the song much
pandapops
he has been very good this season and can improve the thing is can he keep up his level every season?only adebayor can answer that.
kaybee
Lou, why thank you, but I preffer to focus on you frog loving librarians as you are clueless beyond words.
