Line Up For Blackburn Clash

The squad for tonight's Vital clash at the Grove has been named

As Wenger patches up his squad, it appears at least one player will play out of position. And whilst the first 11 is strong, the bench has a distinct lack of creativity should things go tits up.

Lehmann
Sagna
Gallas
Senderos
Clichy
Fabregas
Gilberto
Flamini
Hleb
Adebayoooor (Give him the ball, and he will score)
Eduardo

Subs
Fabianski
Bendtner
Hoyte
Traore
Gilbert

This will be a good place to discuss the match seen as that lazy ******** Simmo hasn't published a match preview...lol

Who said he was at left midfield? Wait for the formation to come out. He is more likely to be on the right with Hleb on the left when you put into account that Bentley is on the left.

If he does play there....which I don't think he will, I think Cesc will play out right, he'll be fine, he played at left back for a long time and was excellent. He will help nulify the threat of Bentley!!

Maybe Simmo's got too many butterflies to write a preview...? It's better than I thought. Senderos in CB instead of Gilberto already makes me feel so much better - yes Senderos gives me more confidence, considering... and despite facing Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy. Alongside Gallas he should do well, injury permitting. That's how far he's come on. Here's to 5 points clear at the top!

The midfield of Blackburn is:Brett Emerton Steven Reid Tugay Bentley, surely that means he is on the left? Therefore Flamini on the right would make sense? Putting in the crosses? Scoring all the goals?

Goofle you're right, I just thought that's what you meant looking at the order of their names. Duh of course it's Hleb on the left, Flamini on the right. Having Cesc and Gilberto in the middle would make it more balanced. I can imagine how Clichy would contain Bentley, just the way he did Ronaldo. I'm incredibly optimistic but also terribly nervous...

The performance wasn't great, but then I wasn't expecting it to be, with the guys just back from internationals and so many injuries. I enjoyed seeing the fight and occasional brilliance though. So another little hurdle cleared then. At the beginning of the year everyone was forecasting that the ACN would take its toll on our Premiership hopes. We wouldn't be able to cope without Toure and Senderos wouldn't be up to the job. What happens? 5 League games,13 points won, 3 clean sheets and just 2 goals conceded.

I do feel like greedy now that we've proven we can grind out results like that, even with great goals. We've ticked many boxes: youth/experience not a problem, scoring goals post-Thierry, defensive record (especially against set-pieces) vastly improved, physical games ok, going away to tough places in ***** weather ok, unbeaten against top teams, even winning all London derbies, injuries coped, ACN coped, new players fitting in well, grinding out numerous results when not at the top of our game, slip-up in the league we coped and climbed back up, etc etc. Are all of you convinced? I am. Very much so.

Ian, I wasn't wrong cos I said (a) if Arsene trusts Senderos, he should be able to do something, (b) he showed his ability before, it's a just question of confidence and run of games required to build it up, (c) the fixture list in this period wasn't terribly tough. My only potential concern was for Gallas to stay fit alongside him. But for all my optimism, I couldn't have predicted 3 clean sheets and 2 goals conceded in 5 league games. Well done Big Phil!

The point Amos makes is an important one... just when the odds 'seem' to be stacked against us, we deliver. It's natural to show resilience when faced with adversity. This is why I don't think we should ******-foot around with the ManU game, and just get our strongest team out with no hesitation, and keep the positive momentum going.

I know Ian, I just wanted to say not all Arsenal fans are Senderos doubters. :) And I actually don't mind if everyone else is still calling ManU the favourites. You know when we 'slipped up' (drew Portsmouth), the odds got updated straightaway to "reflect Arsenal's chances". But when ManU drew, or even lost, the bookies only made very minor adjustments to the odds. THAT is odd... But I agree with Andy, it's a good thing for the team.

Excellent result last night. The tempo slowed after 25 mins, but we came back well in the 2nd half, should have really been more goals. Flamster missed a one on one, but Friedel did really well on the night. Hleb was very good and it was pleasing to see him take 2 shots from the edge of the box - he is a favourite of mine and its good to see him working on his game positively. Gilberto - not too happy with him, too many misplaced passes. I am desperate for him to have a few good games, coz I dont want to remember his last few games for Arsenal like this. The man deserves better. Ade was anonymous for large parts of the game, not his usual work rate, but he still scored a goal ! Amazing.

The game was odd, I was getting so pi.ssed off, we couldn't keep possession. But as well as blackburn were holding the ball, they created ONE chance in mcarthy's header. We still ended up with a lot more shots on/off and possession....That makes me laugh, man utd dropped more points during the ACN, they're not as great as the media make them. But they're (media) coming around slowly. we are definitely the best team in england, we just have to push on from here....NEXT 2 GAMES ARE MASSIVE, UTD AND MILAN

Great result despite the middle 60 mins when Blackburn had possession with no end product. I thought the back 4, especially Big Phil, were awesome, but the game proved that Gilberto can no longer cut it at the top. It's a shame that Diarra was so impatient and stupid 'cos he is the future for some team, whereas Gilbert needs a new challenge in a slower paced environment. Two great goals and Hleb coming back to his November form.
