'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thank You AC Milan

Arsenal's Champions League opponents have shown their true class by wishing Eddie a speedy recovery.

The Gunner's drew 0-0 with the reigning European champions at Ashburton Grove last week, and despite offering very little going forward, AC Milan put on one of the most accomplished defensive displays you're ever likely to............and did so without resorting to rough-house tactics.

Eddie's horrific injury shocked football fans all round the world, with graphic images appearing in newspapers and blog sites everywhere.

Yet only hours after Eduardo was admitted to hospital, AC Milan put a statement on their official website titled 'COME ON EDUARDO!'

They said, MILAN - Eduardo Da Silva has broken his left leg in the match against Birmingham today, as reported by the BBC. The Rossoneri's family wishes the Arsenal striker all the best and a quick return to playing.

Now that's true class.

true class.. wat a great club.. whereas we were hopin kaka and pato wont be ready for the game, milan comes up with an official statement.. RESPECT
McGooner
Yes true class. How about we send our regards to their Ronaldo too? (No, seriously.)
Lou the Gunneress
http://www.acmilan.com/index.aspx Tells you alot when opponents in the CL do something like that yet some people still are not accpeting it was malicious or a sending off
ajwb
all europeans have class, the italians seem to ooze class in every aspect.
PUREGOLD
To be honest AC Milan have been nothing but totally respectful about Arsenal since the draw was made & to send such a message is truly superb!! If Milan beat us then I genuinely hope they go on & retain the trophy........McGooner, I can honestly say I was never one that hoped Pato or Kaka wouldn't make it back for the games against us. I've always felt that if you aren't capable of beating the best players the opposition have then you don't deserve to stay in the competition.
Ashburton Gooner
Thats quite a sweeping statement PG, I certainly wouldnt say Barca or Real Madrid had class.......but thats for another day!
Rocky7
class
fcdematthew
ya unlike the spanish ****z, the italians especially milan are the best of the lot..
luckys_10
Very good gesture by Milan. Unforunately, that's not gonna change the way the Italian Police are going to view the Arsenal and Liverpool fans who go to Milan.
Aamir
I'm still in shock over Eduardo's injury... I missed the start of the match, and once I'd heard what had happened, couldn't bring myself to watch the rest... Im disapointed at the reaction of pundits and some fans of our rivals, the former defending the undefendable, the latter using it as a rather crass excuse to bang on about Wengers so called myopia, gallas or anything else they saw fit to moan about... So it is good to see our opposition make this statement and shows a good deal of class where others have shown none... Oh and I'm with AG I've never wished for players to be out injured, as it kind of defeats the point, with the greatest respect mcgooner, speak for yourself...
KaoTeK
AC Milan have shown themselves to be a club of class and a real model for our own club. I think the fact that they have actually gone out of their way to put this on their website for their own supporters to read is just brilliant.
Gooner_Vin
nothing but quality by milan, i had respect for them before but even more now
gillvy4
I never wished any player, especially the Milan ones (can't say it's a soft spot but I like quite a few of them as players especially Kaka and Pirlo). Have to confess I thought it's "to our advantage" when I heard some of them couldn't make it. Very happy they did make it in the end though. If you look at their players, Maldini, Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo and Nesta, all very decent people and great players. Just to have them play at the Emirates is a great thing. It was the greatest 0-0 draw I've seen in quite some time. You just wouldn't find players like them in England...
Lou the Gunneress
I told you goons we'd do it. Write us off at your peril. We whipped your a55, and did the same to Chavski, we are the CC Champions the Ramos revolution has only just begun. No more big four domination. Even you lot can't say Chavski played a b team. CCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYSSSSSPURS. Ps We genuinely wish Edwardo better, hope to see him back soon.
YidEdy
By the way that girl's (in the posts photo) got a nice butt, almost makes me wanna stay on this tired site longer, and wind you lot up even more. You should'a put Wengers face on there, that's enough to get rid of anyone.
YidEdy
Lou Lou, you said we were gonna loose, what happened !!
YidEdy
Vin, speaking of 'model for our own club' - it's literally quite true. I watched the Milan episode of the "Kings of Clubs" documentary series before. They tell a story that Arsene together with Gerard Hollier actually visited them once, like more than 10 years ago, to look at their Milanello sports centre, see how they train players, etc. The coach said (forgot who it was, maybe Sacchi) he didn't mind to let them see some of their "trade secrets" even though the board did raised some questions. So yeah, it could have been an inspiration for Arsene just before he joined Arsenal.
Lou the Gunneress
Huh? I didn't say you're gonna lose, cos I didn't care about anything else. I thought I only said to a nice Chelsea bloke 'good luck' or something. But yeah, congratulations!
Lou the Gunneress
And on Chelsea, it's definitely not a B team. Their A team is double the size of any normal one. It's just a very strange team in which so many people played out of position. But anyway, congrats. I saw some of the guys in blue in the tube today, not too disappointed either. But it's good that you guys are happy. The cup's with the team who wanted it most. Well done!
Lou the Gunneress
Thanks lou lou, no hard feelings darling just a bit of banter, So long since we won anything I forgot whats it's like.
YidEdy
Funny that, on the way to wembley, the Chelsea presents was almost non-existant. I thought they never sold their allocation it was that bad, and they were very quiet on the day. Strange really as they're are normally a real roudy bunch. Maybe they suspected a bad day. I know we were underdogs, and that made it all the sweeter.
YidEdy
Huh really? Were there vacant seats in the Chelsea part of Wembley? And BTW I'm surprised only you came here to show off a bit, not even gloating too badly LOL, and so late that was. All of your mates must still be out and drinking. Glad I live in a quiet area, and more importantly south of the Thames. :D
Lou the Gunneress
Woolwich no doubt :-). Nah I had to watch it again on the box (you miss alot when it's live), and yes I will be buying the DVD. BTW, I never used to come on this site at all, but I got so sick and tired of Little Dutch, Lucky 10, Rocky7, sweetleftfoot and worst offender Puregold, invading our site time after time, full of insults I decided to give a little back. Surprisingly loads of your lot was on ours handing out congrats'. Maybe it's your lot that had too much to drink.
YidEdy
Also I think the Edwardo thing has kind of killed the wind up scene for a bit. I really do hate Arsenal, I must admit, but when I saw that injury, I felt sick in my gut. You can actually feel the pain from your front room, it was horrific, and it reminds you that at the end of the day, it's just football, and a person is far more important.
YidEdy
Anyway, If you lot loose to Milan, which I really hope you do (no offence Lou Lou :-)) i'll probably be back to give a little dig again, and no doubt if we don't win the UEFA, little dutch, SLF, PG and co. will all come dribbling back to our page looking for us, to give us one or two digs back. All the best YYYYIIIIDDDAAAARRRRRMMMMYYYYYY.
YidEdy
Yid I never hated you guys or the Chelsea fans. But quite contrary to what you just said, the tragedy brought out the best of some, but the worst of others. Did get mad with some of those idiots but today I'm very happy because Eduardo seems to be in good spirits and the news is maybe not as bad as it could have been. Anyway, just very happy the guy's doing ok and in some good hands. Yeah it's just a football, what the hell made people hate each other so much, I still don't know. Anyway, enjoy the cup victory. Watched the game a little bit, wasn't paying close attention, but it seemed your team did you proud, outplaying their "world-class" this "world-class" that. Wish you good luck with keeping Ramos and Berba too. If Berba still leaves, tell him we need a striker now... LOL just kidding. Congrats.
Lou the Gunneress
Listen Lou Lou, some of my best mates and family are Gooners, and I just hate them on a saturday afternoon, some sundays, and for a few hours during the week occationally. Other than that they're ok. Now there's hate, and there's hate. You know what I mean, West Ham hate however, are more of a 24-7, 7 days a week thing.
YidEdy
It takes too much emotion to hate someone. So I just despise some individuals, not hate haha. And you must be very busy - have to hate us sometimes and hate West Ham 24/7, and they're 2 different kinds of hate. What a life! LOL
Lou the Gunneress
You didn't say - so were Wembley not full, the Chelsea section?
Lou the Gunneress
I didn't say I hate the individuals, that takes far too much time I just hate Arsenal it's quicker :-). Well Lou Lou they filled their section up, but they took time getting in, they were very quiet, they only came alive for a bit when they scored, so that never lasted too long. But what really struck me was their lack of presents before and after the game. Well after I suppose as they left before us for some reason. but before the game there just weren't any of them around. Sounds rediculous, but it felt like a home game, and we were there an hour before the game, but just nothing, just a hand full I saw, and hardly any in there colours.
YidEdy
Maybe because it's not their 1st time to Wembley. Maybe they didn't feel too good about this game. That kind of mentality/atmostphere's actually what David James wrote in his Guardian column, some reasons why people didn't/don't have as much feeling for this cup. Quite interesting. While you hope we get knocked out by Milan (no shame there tbh, but I'm pretty confident still), I'm thinking if they might lose to Olympiakos - what are the odds! Sleepy, have fun tomorrow, this Monday is yours.
Lou the Gunneress
Cheers Lou Lou, good chat, I reckon we've got a better chance in UEFA than you lot in the CL, obviously cause you've a much bigger task, but then I suppose it's relative. I just think you've got too many players out, and Edwardo's injury won't help. For me Berba comes alive in Europe, I think he's abit hot and cold in the prem, though he has picked up alot since the window closed, and he's been able to focus on football. Have a good week. !!
YidEdy
I think i am in a dream, a gooner and spurs fan having a normal conversation without the usual crap......i must be dreaming :)
AB_Arsenal
What the hell just happened?
Gunnerman
I actually had a neutral view on the CC final. I'm just mad that the Phoenix Suns got wiped out be the Detroit Pistions 116 -86 at home... that's totally unforgivable...
stukazufuss
Hahaha AB and Gunnerman, amazing wasn't it? ANd yeah Moorish, that's what I was referring to, those idiots can't call themselves human beings. Same goes to Seb Larsson. Can't believe we brought him up! That kid makes me even more sick than those Chelsea "fans"! Glad we dumped him to Birmingham, where he truly belongs. Please those who're going to the games, please boo him big time for me.
Lou the Gunneress
Compare and contrast, the conduct of Milan- a third party in the incident who don't even play in our league- to the reaction of Birmingham City's players. Apparently, Arsenal are idiotic and childish for "being in a bad mood" after Eduardo's injury. I would expect more from someone like Larsson who was schooled by Arsenal, a decent player and I thought a decent bloke. I was wrong http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_3192663,00.html
Little Dutch
It just shows you AB and Gunnerman, all things are possible LOL. She's a good girl Lou Lou, we never started great, as with all Spurs and Arsenal, but she said her bit and I said mine then we had a bit of a laugh.. Moorish it's a disgrace that any one could find humour in the Eduardo situ' I'm embarrased to say there was some idiotic Spurs fans making up a song about it. we just shot them a look and they appeared a bit embarrased. There's another one going about regarding Adebayo. Say what you like about the players, but to bring someones mother into it is disgusting, and for the first time I felt a bit ashamed to be with these so called Spurs fans. His mum and dad don't play for Arsenal. I won't say the words cause it will just glorify the Idiots who made it up. COYS Uefa next.
YidEdy
I know LD, could not believe what i was reading from larsson. A really bitter guy. Calling wenger idiotic and childish, total lack of respect. Every moron has to throw in their two cents trying to make arsenal the bad guys. Yidedy and Lou, the nice words wont last LOL wait till arsenal or spurs go out of europe! well when spurs go out, lol.
ian7
Never said it would ian7, I said as soon as you lot get tumbled by Milan, or we don't lift the Uefa, you lot will be back onto us and vise versa. The Eduardo thing kind of bought peace to north london for a few days at least lol.
YidEdy
Ian and Yid, maybe that's true on Europe. But I'm waiting to see what happens when we win the league for Edu. Hope the graceful Spurs fans will still come and congratulate us like we did to them last night. Guess after seeing Milan's gracefulness, I'm being a tad too optimistic about human nature. lol
Lou the Gunneress
Oh and I've quickly done LD's "Compare and contrast" exercise in my head. Now my conclusion is that Milan's European Champions for a reason man! Birmingham don't even begin to "compare", football-wise or class-wise or any-other-wise. End of.
Lou the Gunneress
Croatia is a nation with pride and class, unlike some: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=518579&in_page_id=1779&ct=5
Lou the Gunneress
I've only seen the incident in the papers so can't comment on Taylor/Gallas/Wenger/Larsson et al. But best wishes to Eduardo. I look forward to King Ledley keeping him at bay next season.
WookieD
watched the milan game last night. were 1-0 down at home but won 2-1 with a 90th minute goal from inzaghi. We have to be careful in that game! And arsenal saying they hope eddie will be back in 9 months. begin light training in 6 months. News seems to be etting better for ed. at least it seems as though he will definitely play again! Keep the faith eduardo, you'll come back a better player!
ian7
lol wookie. keeping him at bay until he gets the one chance he needs in the 91st minute. 1-0, you heard it here first ;-)
ian7
true class from a classy club!
merlin
Yeah Merlin, the anti-thesis of Chavski FC!
Gooner_Vin
You know something, LD's "compare and contrast" exercise made me rethink a little bit about the "European super league" thing. Maybe, just maybe, playing teams like Milan on a regular basis and not having to contribute to the gate receipts and TV revenues to the likes of Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, etc. isn't such a bad idea. But then that also means we face teams like Real and Barca who won't stop tapping up our players every week. Hmm.. I don't know.
Lou the Gunneress
Class from the Milan club. AG makes a good point, ever since this fixture was drawn up, they have not said one bad word about arsenal. They deserve respect, and they've always been slightly un-Italian in their footballing approach.
prits
ian7 - Remember how quick Cisse made it back on his first break againt Blackburn. Not quite as complex as Eduardos' but he was back in 3 months or somthing stupid from a complete fracture... By the way, assuming Leds can play to 91mins, jog on ;p
WookieD
I can't wait till AC milan spank you lot !!
JustSpursMad
JustSpursMad you've just illustrated the point about class here in this thread. Thanks.
