'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Oh You F***ing Beauty!!!

Hands up who thought we'd fluffed it when Adebayor missed that sitter in the last minute of the first leg at Ashburton Grove.

**Raises hands**

Make no bones about it, we were up against the odds tonight, we weren't facing a group of Sunday league cloggers, we had to score against one of the best clubs in the world.

Not only did we become the first ever English club to win against AC Milan at the San Siro (How many Spurs reminded us that they'd never lost to an English club at home when we drew the first leg?) but we absolutely bossed the game from start to finish with quite possibly the best performance I have ever seen.

Mr Stillman will give you the match report when he returns from Italy (He informed me that the travelling Gooners are being treated to a 'History of Highbury dvd on the big screens as we speak) but until then.........enjoy.

the arsenal

AFC85Lew
We were *****in' amazing. I said in a front page article I thought it was still advantage Arsenal, and it proved to be. All round brilliance. I have never seen Kaka kept so quiet for 180 minutes. Cesc was immense, he loves the big games doesnt he?
Ozi Gooner
Proud to be a Gooooooooooooooner!
Swiss Gooner
Congratulation's,that is a right win!
SweetLeftFoot
Oh my God I'm still ecstatic!!! Watched the game in a pizzeria packed with Italians and Milan fans and I had to keep low-key! SO WELL DONE, SO PROUD OF THE BOYS!!! And we're the FIRST TEAM to beat Milan at the San Siro!!! :D
Lou the Gunneress
the first english team to win in the bernabeu and the san siro against ac milan. and demolished their rivals 5-1 also in the san siro. who says we arent capable of amazing european away results?? COME ON YOU GOOOOOOOONEEERS
ahops101
Awesome Just F@ckin awesome, no way Milan deserved anything, we played em off the park from the first to the final, even if the result had gone against us we could've all held heads high as we ruled the old fellas, I'm gonna sign off with that word again AWESOME.
nikolaijns
Unreal, I swear to God I was worried with every name that cropped up on the Milan team sheet. But we made AC Milan our bitches. Complete and utter domination of one of the worlds greatest teams
Gunnerman
Not just the fact that we won, but tha manner of the victory was amazing. Although the longer it went on I just thought that Milan were going to nick it. No matter what though, even if we'd lost, that was an oustanding performance.
Gooner_Vin
We played out 90 minutes of TOTAL AND UTTER DOMINATION of AC Milan. We haven't won anything yet, but christ, I'm gonna be grinning solidly for a few days.
Gunnerman
gattuso who?kaka who?who needs them when we have flamini and fabregas?and that boy wlcott is trully amazing and never will i slug off senderos again,he has been a revaltion, tell me if we have missed toure!!
the arsenal
yahoooooooooooooooooooooo OMG i am still speechless....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wenger_Knows
People were fair enough when they said it's a make-or-break game. So now we'll put our season back on track!! Come on you Gunneeeeerrrrssss!!
Lou the Gunneress
not to take away from the joy of this amazing moment. did anyone watch that sevilla fenerbache game?!? myy wordd. fenerbache in the shootout
ahops101
Yeah I agree niko, we could have lost and still I'd have been thoroughly proud of our performance (in both legs) I can't help but wonder if our waywardness at the weekend was because the lads had one eye on this match, the difference was astounding, yet it was exactly the same line up...... The best thing is, it will be a massive shot in the arm for our league aspirations....
KaoTeK
Well done gooners. Enjoy!
Real Deal
It didn't look as if we would ever get the ball into the net. The goal came out of the blue given everything that had gone on before but Wnger had his tactics right Milan pushed forward more in the last 20 minutes and left more space at the back. Wenger is sometimes accused of lacking the tactical expertise of managers like Ancellotti but we not only out played them we out thought them as well. What a great night and yet another European first. Gallas was immense yet again.
Amos.
Yeah Amos! Out of the blue! I had to ask the Gooner behind me "Did it really go in?! I thought it went wide!" We couldn't believe it! What a shot by Cesc!! Theo's assist for Ade's goal was superb too!!
Lou the Gunneress
it's time we stop calling flamini flattuso and from now on call him FLAMINI
McGooner
Cheers to the spuds on here offering congrats, good luck to yourselves against PSV - hope you have better luck than we did last year!
nikolaijns
Milan just didn't look as though they really believed they could beat Arsenal. I think that must have been from the after effects of the first leg performance. And how important it is not to concede an away goal, eh?!
Gooner_Vin
One more page in the book of experience for the young lads who, according to many pundits, don't have enough to sustain a serious challenge. There are very few players who will have experienced a CL win against Milan in the San Siro.
Amos.
Good win - congrats. Is it already determined who you get next or is it now an open draw?
Bran Mak Morn
well done. great performance tonite. another history for Arsenal. hope that we get another "big" team in the quarter-final. we tended to struggle against the not-so-big teams (villareal and psv). hope to meet barca (preferably in the final).
fcdematthew
open draw with no seedings for q-finals
fcdematthew
McGooner you're so darn right - Matthieu Flamini has made his name! How about calling Gattuso "Gatthieu" instead? :D
Lou the Gunneress
Excellent! We must nail Flams down to new contract now!!! The guy is a fu(king trojan!
flv
A-MAZING!!! What a stellar performance. Magnificent! Barcelona next! Kudos to sp*rs fans for coming out and acknowledging that result. COME ON ARSENAL! COME ON ARSENAL! COME ON ARSENAL! COME ON ARSENAL! COME ON ARSENAL!
G4L
Fecking excellent, especially after an awful few weeks!! A superb defensive display and fluid passing. The face on Fabregas when he scored said it all! Come on you Gunnners!!
Andy-bayor
Would luv to get Barca but I have a feeling it'll be Chelsea, this result wipes clean any doubt of our capabilities this season, with RVPs imminent return on the horizon and Rosicky and Kolo doubtless to have vital says before the seasons end, I feel tonights crucial result sees us ride out the toughest ask given the amount of our squad out, Somewhere in Londinium tonight a little Crozillian fella was throwing those crutches skyward.
nikolaijns
Remember the DVD for our away CL win over Real as we were the first English team to achieve that at the Bernabeu? I can see another DVD coming hehee!
Lou the Gunneress
wow........that's about all I can say about that right now...I'm speechless.
SUX2BU
Good shout niko, the rest of this season is for Eduardo and this was as good a time as any to turn a bad run on its head.
Ozi Gooner
GREAT performance, great win. well done to every arsenal player over both legs
ian7
BBC: "It was a victory that was true to Wenger's principles, based on glorious passing, attacking football that even forced Milan's fans to set aside their disappointment and applaud Arsenal's players at the final whistle." Ha ha effing ha!
Lou the Gunneress
Probably the best collective performance I've seen from the team this season. Absolutely first class. Even Senderos had a decent game! Well done to the team. Hopefully this reignites the belief that we can hold off United and Chelsea in the race for the Premiership.
Wyn Mills
Big Clubs, Perform on big occasions! we showed tonight what a big club we are and what we are all about, a big performance on a big occasion,
Achilles
Awesome performance last night. Come on Arsenal.
Warri Gooner
I am so proud of these fellas. At every stage this season they have answered when they were called to. RVP did say at the beginning of the season that there is so much belief within the team. Furthermore, what better way to give a tribute to Eduardo. Well done gunners, and all d best for the rest of the season
phreddy
It's also a big relief that we didn't have to bring RvP on. So happy to see him come back against Wigan this weekend. I can see us back to the winning ways now!
Lou the Gunneress
AAAAAAHHHH YES what a result and what a way for Fabregas to break his goal drought. This has to be one of the best European nights in Arsenal history. Cummon u Gunners, lets av the Champs League now, and the Prem!!
lebob88
Don't even wanna see him back this weekend unless he's 150%, a player like him needs to be eased back in and ensured he is firing for the QF and away at the theatre of dweebs and the small team in Fulham.
nikolaijns
WHAT A ******** BRILLIANT GAME!! Im so pumped. Just pure class :)
gunnerkid107
The lads did it for Dudu !
Will-i-am10
The Milan fans are really suffering. They can't believe what's happened. http://forum.acmilan-online.com/showthread.php?t=9937&page=33&pp=20

Congrat's Lou Lou
YidEdy
Right Niko, we have to make 150% sure RvP's fit before we let him get off the bench! Let's also stuff a few layers of bubble wraps between his legs and his socks! Thanks Edy heehee, but you should congratulate US. :) Still can't sleep!! And Wyn Mills, speaking of Milan fans' reaction, the entire Italian bar in which I watched the game was shaking their heads. My Milan-supporting schoolmate said to me at the end, "We didn't do very well. You guys were too good." Her Inter-supporting bf was sighing the whole time, then ended up trying to cling to their last Italian straw with a sad face, "Let's watch Roma tomorrow night." :P
Lou the Gunneress
Love photos #21, 26 (RvP warming up there?!) and 35: http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/ucl/FixturesResults/Round=15106/Match=301896/flashgallery.html

ITALIAN JOB part 2, every bit as good as part 1.

I couldnt sleep !! the game ended at midnight and I stayed till three to watch the replay ... This is the stuff that dreams are made of ...
.::EgyptianGooner::.
The draw will be noon, 14th March (next Friday). Stay tuned. :)
Lou the Gunneress
I have been replaying our second goal. Walcott really amazed me. How could he had not tumbled being tripped at the speed he was running & being back on his feet running again in a split of a second? Truly amazing
Joe_@**
Good game. Congrats.
ivanskg
Cesc, you ******** beauty indeed !! For 3 whole seconds, I couldnt believe the ball went in, and then I went ballistic too !! Feels ******** awesome to be a gooner right now, and I'm ******** proud of the lads. Well done !
prits
Totally outclassed the European Champions over 180 mins. This was an amazing performance. I was getting a little concerned after 70 mins, coz we could have done so much better with the chances we had, but Cesc did it in the end. The 2nd goal was all Theo, his pace did the trick and its pleasing to see Ade off his duck in the CL goal scoring charts.
prits
just want to say, all those pundits that wrote us off 2 weeks ago , what do they know about this arsenal team !!!! make sure you email in, especially to that idiot adrian durham on talk sport, the idiot said we didn't have the class to go to milan and get a result !!!! what a tit he must feel today !
PUREGOLD
fantastic game and result, cesc and flam were brillig.
JakeB
We were bossing the game so much last night that, when we came out in the 2nd half and passed up a couple of chances I began to wait for the sucker punch. But it never came. The team stayed true to their priciples and, having shackled Milan perfectly throughout the game, then broke their hearts with first Cesc's and then Ade's late sealer. Hats off to them, one and all, they showed great belief and team spirit tonight. Onwards to the quarters, lads n' lasses...
»»Arsene Knows««
Wingston75
great result, especially when a lot of the press had written you off.
The Fear
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WE BLEW THEM AWAY NOW WE'VE GOT A HEAD OF STEAM LET'S TAKE IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL AND SHOW THE WORLD WHAT THIS TEAM CAN DO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH TO OOH TO BEEEEEEE, OOOOOOOOOOH TO BE A ---------- GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA!!!!!!!

congrats great win u finished of Milan in every sense. Expect massive changes at Milan next year after that result. But this night was about u guys well done.
HuddersfieldYiddo
Nice one HYiddo......ppl, if you see that ac milan forum, you got fans saying they wanna die, they are mad, angry, crying everything. We done em good and proper, up the arsenal!!!
ian7
well done fellas you were absoultely fantastic last night, ive not seen alot of barca, but they are said to be playing some good football, but if it is any better than what you are playing i would be surprised - arsenal are a team that deserve to win the champions lge playing the way they do... clearly im a pompey fan, but from 3 boys and 1 girl or born and raised in pompey only 1 slipped the net, my youngest bro is a gooner, so i have more than a passing interest in the club and always have if we could win the fa cup and you the champions lge - and the league too - what a celebration we would have!
pompeyrug
Unbelievable. How f***ing awesome were we last night?! We TWICE outplayed and outclassed the best club side in the WORLD! The whole team played suberbly, but for me the M.O.M. was Alex. I thought he had a 10 out of 10 game. Didn't give a pass away, was all over the place and he even shot from outside the box... even though it was way over. But what a game and what a day to be a GOONER! From South Africa's #1 Arsenal fan to Gunners all over the world, say it with me: WE'RE GONNA WIN IT FOR EDUARDO!!!
Patresc Vieiragas
never doubted it....was a bit worried when milan started pushing forward towards the end,but we wiped the floor with them, and i knew 0-0 at home was a good result...bring it on...all those people who said we couldnt do it,well kiss my Arsenal....where is that tool canavaro now....the muppet
fran merida
how we get there we don't care how we get there we don't know ALL WE KNOW IS WE ARE ON OUR WAAAAAAY
Chipo

Kudos to the gracious spuddies...... More kudos to the Gunners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LondonGooner
Yea I remeber that bloke, Cannavaro. I think he returned as YLT or something like that. What a b!tch he was. I cant wait to see him now...Oh and anyone else think this was the best away performance since Madrid?
WouldYouBelieveIt?!
Absoloutely delighted. FANTASTIC result, but honestly, a quite divine performance. Everyone was ******** awesome. I agree with Amos about it coming out of the blue. I was watching it at the Emirates and when the shot went in we all paused for about a second because we couldn't quite believe it, and then we brought the ******** roof down! Simply brilliant, a perfect night of football. Well done lads, you most definitely deserved it.
super_gooner
congratulations. i had a feeling you might get through but i dont think even the most ardant arsenal fan could expect such a good performance as that. well done...look foreward to meeting you in the quarter's!!!
united4life
thank you united4life...so far, this is the best match we have played so far in terms of difficulty of an opponent, playing away from home, controlling the game, clean sheet and above all it proved youth can beat experience!!!
CoastarianGooner
I'm a Man U fan, and i gotta give it to you, that was a superb performance and you fully deserve to go through, many teams will be wanting to avoid you now
cyjax
Thankyou United4life...you don't work in the media by any chance do you ?...it's just that there are a lot of us ardent gooners who were not that surprised at the performance and result !!...delighted ...overjoyed....but not THAT surprised.....
radar
Totally deserved that, Flamini and FABregas totaly out paced Kaka.
goonerbird85
well done the ars didn't think you'd do that well
