Wenger Fears Mad Jens Exit

Arsene Wenger admits he could be resigned to losing our mad cap keeper on a bosman at the end of the season after the transfer window signalled a period when Lehmann could potenitally sign a pre-contract with another club.

The rules state that Mad Jens could talk to any club with a view to signing without prior permission of Mr. Wenger or anyone at Arsenal.

Le Boss claims he has no idea of Lehmann's intentions, and indeed it is his own priority to get the German number one to stay, but will not break his policy of 'one year for over 30's'

'I do not know whether Jens will stay. Ideally I would like him to stay but I don't know yet. We will have to wait and see what happens.

'But he will not get more than one year. What can change things is if another club offers him three years.

'We have not really sat down yet and spoken about a contract, about what I expect of him for the rest of the season.

'He can sign a pre-contract with someone else but that's a risk I take.

I do get the feeling that our favorite nutcase will leave us in the summer, after providing some of the most wonderful memories in recent history. I'm quite whatever he decides to do, he will always remain in the hearts of Gooners the world over.

Be a big shame to see him go, but I've always thought that Almunia can step into his boots quite easily.

Lehman will always go down as one of the invincibles so a legend in his own right. I think though at 37 it is time to move on and we have Almunia who is looking a lot better this season and we can maybe sign Craig Gordon from Hearts or even dare I say it.....Buffon!

Lehmann will always be a legend to me. Part of the Immortal team, amazing saves such as the penner against Villarreal,or the last minute save v Ole Gunnar at OT this season. Also, his ma cap antics will be talked about in pubs across North London for years and years to come.

Is this simply another case of Arsene forcing out a much valued player with his "over 30's" policy? Don't have a clue why this should apply to keepers as well. Or do you Gooners think Almunia will be as good?

If Jens goes, AW will surely pick up someone who will have to fill in Jens' boots. He has been magnificent for us, great professional and a top GK. Pity he is not 2 or 3 years younger. I really got used to seeing him between the posts.

i would love to see him play on next year, but i only fear that his game shouldn't drop just as seaman's did after the world cup, the man played for us for over a decade, and the way his career ended with so many critics on his back and some of the fans ridiculing him was really sad, just hope it shouldn't happen to mad jens, and his legendary status at our club doesen't diminishes even a bit, but i really hope he stays on for a year, cuz we'll really miss him..

I hope for your sakes this is a no story!

If he keeps performing the way he has since he got back onto the 1st team, i really hope he stays a gooner.

Every commentator has it in for Jens. Whenever arsenal are on tv he just has to talk to the ref & straight away the comments like 'Lehmann's sticking his nose in again'. They know absolutely nothing. When he shows passion like he did in the boro game when senderos was sent off Gordon McQueen & the other p**** started on about him. If Wayne Rooney, Lampard or Neville reacted like that they would put it down to passion!! Its pathetic. Jens was the best goalkeeper in europe last season by a country mile!! I do however think this is probably his last season with us & it will be a shame if he isn't replaced with equal quality, something which will be hard to achieve. I don't think Almunia is good enough & we always look shaky with him playing despite the fact he is a great shot stopper!!

All Wenger has to do if he wants to keep him is offer him a two year contract and more money, its that easy.

Almunia has come on leaps and bounds but if madjens is off we still need another top drawer keeper, reckon we should have a pop at Cudicini.
