'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Twenty is Plenty

1. Why are Arsenal fans complaining so much about the denied penalty on Wednesday night? We all know Bendtner would have saved it anyway!

2. Are Chelsea fans even slightly embarrassed by the club`s announcement that they are effectively bribing supporters to attend the upcoming fixture against Everton, including paying their travel costs? I guess the rows of empty seats and the sleeping supporters at the game against Boro last week means Grant`s experiment with "sexy football" has now turned into all out prostitution.

3. Are Liverpool bothered about tomorrow?

4. What would a Ronaldo injury do to the rest of United`s season?

5. Is Anfield really that special on a European night?

6. If we do end up potless this season, will the fact that we probably relegated Bolton still make it a successful season? Surely there has to be some kind of trophy for that? Maybe a Noble Peace Prize?

7. Is Abou Diaby really that stupid?

8. Are the board of Derby County actually happy with the relegation? They`ve gone up, reaped the financial rewards. Reimbursed very little of it in the squad, made very little attempt at staying up and therefore don`t really lose much by going down. When one considers how much Sunderland have spent to just about keep their heads just above the parapet, can you really blame them for taking a calculated approach?

9.'Boro are usually good for a result against the top teams, can they turn the title race on its head this weekend?

10. What the **** are the BBC thinking putting the Pompey v West Brom semi final on at the same time as Arsenal v Liverpool? Why is this channel allowed to show such contempt for the miniscule amount of live football it gets?

11. Anyone else really get the feeling that Flamini is a goner?

12. "If you stop Steven Gerrard you can stop Liverpool." These were Kolo Toure`s words in the build up to Wednesday`s game. So why didn`t he take his own advice and tackle the bastard then?

13.In a feature on Portsmouth`s F.A. Cup run, Sky Sports News proclaimed that, "when it comes to success in the F.A. Cup, Tony Adams has more than drunk his fill." Most unfortunate choice of words ever?

14. What was the point in the F.A. charging Ferguson and his mini me Quieroz for their Hackett outburst? They`ve both effectively chosen the referees for the next three weeks anyway, why bother with this pathetically transparent attempt at looking authoritative all of a sudden?

15. El Hadji Diouf has confirmed this week that he will leave Bolton at the end of the season. Given that he`s possibly the most despised footballer in the country, together with the fact that he looks a little bit like a Bond villain, does anybody think that Chelsea is the best possible club for him? (Long ball football in an empty stadium, can`t think it would take long for him to adjust).

16. Why no gushing prose from the media this week of how Gallas inspired our comeback at Bolton last week? Who does Steven Gerrard have to blow to get the kind of publicity he gets?

17. Mateja Kezman has been quoted as saying that Chelsea would not have lost to Fenerbahce had Mourinho still been manager. Shouldn`t the guy keep his gob shut until the second leg?

18.The F.A. have pledged to investigate allegations that an unnamed player in one of Britain`s professional leagues accepted a £50,000 bribe to deliberately get himself sent off. So that`ll be a "let`s just sit around and do nothing for eighteen months and then just tell everybody it was inconclusive then yeah" stance from the F.A?

19. Just what did happen to the F.A`s bung enquiry?

20. Is Theo Walcott ready to make an impact for ninety minutes?LD.

Theo Probably should start now due to Arsenal fans trying to drive Eboue out of the team and probably club.
paul_ownz
yeah hows about give toure a rest and play bendtner at right back...i knowtwasnt his fault and soon we will be able to laugh heartily at the blooper reel it will surely turn up on. An injury to ronaldo? would be intersting to see how (wo)manu cope or even better, him ******** off to real madrid would surely shatter united. but i love hating him so let him stay in engerland, if he were injured for a short time e.g. till may...it may to prove a point. We should get an "outstanding contribution to football" award for relegating bolton
anonymous
He has earned it no doubt. But if you are a player, how are you meant to play well when your own fans get on your back and boo. I know he is a t*at and does some stupid things. I just dont think we are helping out by laying in to him. IMO
paul_ownz
Theo is ready to make an impact, but as a striker this weekend. Which leaves us with Eboue the only choice at RM - he's been ok this season, not good, but he has linked up well with Sagna to create some chances for the team. I've not given up hope on Flamini yet, although the longer it takes, the less likely it looks that he will sign. He has every right to move for more money, but it would be disappointing to handle as a gooner.

Anyone got any idea who this "mystery" Prem gambling addict cheating dirty footballer is???
scooch
Lee Bowyer!
Aamir
Yeah, I bet Bowyer would have a real hard time acting that part out. "Oh no, I've got to try and get myself sent off, how will I ever manage it?" Thing is, how do you prove that accusation? I could show you twenty games and say, "see, Barton's deliberatley trying to get himself sent off there." Although, hang on, what was question 7 again.....................
Little Dutch
Aamir, is that serious or are you trying to smear the name of one of the greatest , most honest footballers to ever play in this country??? (cough cough). Is that common knowledge???
scooch
Sorry to post off topic there and steal your thunder LD. I do look forward to your questions and hope it lasts forever. I sound like I'm trying to chat you up haha.
scooch
That's alright scooch, I wouldn't blame you. I'm a good looking guy.
Little Dutch
So I've heard!!!! So.... How You Doing....??? Haha. Sorry shouldn't even joke around what with my nickname and all. Damn that ****king Europop group and the Eurovision song contest!!!!
scooch
Theo & his missus are going to be appearing on the latest series of Mr & Mrs for ITV1 in a couple of weeks :)
Boro 01
I think Bowyer's done all he can to smear his name so he wouldn't mind if I helped him a little bit. :)

6. it’s the Nobel prize, and relegating them would indeed be a singularly humanitarian act of unprecedented proportions, except for the championship viewers who really don’t deserve such cruelty. 7. Oh he's just big, leggy lug, a good kindhearted gent, who didn’t mean it and deserves the nation’s sympathy and understanding 9. the football gods have turned their backs on us, so I doubt it 11. yes, if he really wanted to stay with the club he would have already signed 12. Kolo’s head is still back in Africa 14. they had to fill their quota of “things we must do publicly to appear upright to the masses”, which is once per season 15. which Bond villain? 16. he’s French, he’s black, plays for Arsenal, figure it out yourself 18. yes 20. it's now or never
jaelle
Off topic like hell, but how do you guys all rate Johan Djourou? I really haven't seen much of him recently. Everytime I see him I change my opinion of him. sometimes i see him and I think that he's the next Toure, othertimes i see him and think he's the new Cygan.
ArsenalRob
4. If both Vidic and Ronaldo are on Man. United's injury list then I don't see them getting many more clean sheets or goals. Although I don't want to win next weekend because of injuries to their players, not having Vidic on the teamsheet is a big plus for us. 11. Flamini doesn't play as if he wants to leave in the summer. I still don't think he's leaving, especially considering the playing time he's getting compared to last year. If he stayed last year when he hardly got time on the pitch, I see no reason why he should leave now that he's first choice. 20. I do want Theo to play tomorrow, and with news that Ade is fit for the Prem game, we could rest Eboue and play Theo on the right, with Bendtner and Ade up front. We could also put Eboue at right back and rest Kolo, who looks like he really needs a rest. Either way, Theo should start for us as he's thoroughly earned a place in the starting 11 after recent displays... Another great read, LD. :)
Cheese.
Also off-topic, someone please explain to me about Denilson. It's like he doesn't exist anymore. Months ago we heard about injuries but then nothing else. Wenger never mentions him among the injured.
jaelle
I don't think he's injured anymore, jaelle. Just not playing or getting on the bench.
Cheese.
Which is weird - even Hoyte and Djourou played in the reserves. This is getting curiouser..
Lou the Gunneress
Just checked out the new interviews/articles on the official site. There's an article saying Cesc has been nudging Flam to sign his contract right away and that he is certain Flam will stay. There's a 12 minute Almunia interview--he's really becaome an Arsenal man, he really loves the club and wants to stay until the end of his career. He says he's very comfortable at Anfield, it's a pitch he enjoys going to, he doesn't feel intimidated there at all and he's never lost there. He also says a win on Saturday is a must "for the fans" who have "suffered a lot this season." Wenger sounds hopeful about Sagna being available for OT. Interestingly, he says Rosicky is on "standby."
jaelle
I really hope it's not long now till Rosicky comes back. Our squad is getting thin again and we're going to need him. I also don't think it'll be long until Flam signs a new contract (most probably wishful thinking on my part here).
Cheese.
What's frustrating with Rosicky is that he's such an amazing player, but he needs a few matches to get back into his game, so we're not expecting him to make a huge impact like these 2 weeks. And then when he's getting back to his best, he breaks down again. I'm sure he's frustrated too. And yeah Jaelle, I just like Almunia as an individual, there are a few players I feel they're nice people who when I listen to them. Almunia, Sagna, Kolo, Clichy. Very unusually humble and down to earth as footballers who don't have any "star" mentality at all.
Lou the Gunneress
Sorry completely off topic - Arsenal TV Online has produced a Ray Kennedy video (free to view/download for non-ATVO subscribers too). Please have a look and it'd be great if you would like to help the legend: http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=489856&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=TV+Online:+Remembering+striker+Ray+Kennedy
Lou the Gunneress
Off topic again, sorry, but good news on Eduardo from Brazil - http://arsenalanalysis.blogspot.com/2008/04/very-encouraging-news-coming-out-of.html
Lou the Gunneress
"His return is now expected in six months time, as early as September of this year." WOW!!! Thanks for that link, Lou!!
jaelle
Yeah I'm very very happy to hear that too. Though it's still too early to well, the signs are good so far. He's made of very strong stuff. :)
Lou the Gunneress
we should lay off Eboue for a while. In his first 2 seasons he was great for us bombing forward up and down the pitch from RB at great pace. Noone complained then. He is now playing an unfamiliar role at RM and his antics get him more noticed. He is becoming the scapegoat. Give the guy a break. This vendetta has lasted long enough. it is becoming silly. Get off his back, support him and let's see if something good comes off this.
Gael-Force
How bout playing Eboue at his natural position tomorrow? Maybe he will remind you all how good of a right back he is, Sagnas still better though.
gunnerkid107
Yeah why not, but instead of moving Kolo back to the middle, Arsene should give him a rest for him to be fresh for Anfield. Then (1) Ade & Bendtner up front, Theo and Hleb out wide; (2) Ade up front, Hleb behind him, Theo and Denilson (where's he?) out wide; (3) Ade up front, Hleb behind, Theo and Cesc out "wide" with Gilberto (just back from injury, mind) and Flamini in the middle? With RvP and Diaby out, I'm not sure how much room we have for resting Kolo, without bringing in Hoyte in RB that is.
Lou the Gunneress
I say rest Kolo becuase he needs it bad and have Phil and Gallas at CB with Clichy and Eboue at LB and RB. Then have Hleb Cesc Flams and Denilson in the midfield with Ade and Theo up top. How about it?
gunnerkid107
flams subs with Kaka. how was that?;p beside i think walcott should be as a super-sub.just like van persie in his early seasons with arsenal
MYgood-ners
Hearing about Eduardo's quick recovery has just made my day, despite the draw against 'Pool. :)
Cheese.
2 - I think a team should be obligated to give away free tickets for one game a season anyway.
