'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What The F*** Do We Have To Do?

There's an old adage that in football, bad decisions level themselves out. Well to that I simply say 'Bollocks'.

Yes I may be writing this in the heat of the moment, I may be wearing my rose tinted Arsenal giggs, but give me a break.

This season has seen Arsenal capitulate in fantastic fashion, mistakes have been made from our players and management alike, but refereeing decisions this season has cost us more than any error from the Arsenal.

I sit here gob smacked that we are currently out of this seasons Champions League. The fact that we were denied a penalty at home to Liverpool last week is obsolete, but Liverpool's heart breaking spot kick was so soft that I can not stomach it.

So as all the flag waving scousers celebrate well into the night, the should count themselves lucky that the footballing gods were smiling down on them, because we were certainly the better team and deserved to go through.

This is one seriously pissed off Gooner, signing off for the night.

HEY MOANER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cockeril
I really can't ******** believe it. Bull *****.
Rocky7
Liverpool always get lucky in the CL. Very good game to watch, for a neutral like myself...
Real Deal
Unbe-****in-lievable ! I said before the game that as soon as a scouser goes down in the box it will be an instant pen. Whereas Kuyt pulls down Hleb last week in the most blatant penalty of the season and - PLAY ON ! Toure didn't even touch Babel. I am proud of the team - well payed (no typo) Liverpool.
Will-i-am10
It does feel like UEFA and the FA etc do not want us to win because of the lack of English players. There is no other explination for the constant barrage of bad decisions...
Goofle
if it was a penalty tonight, then the ref should be sacked from last week, he didnt even really touch him it was just bollox, total bull *****. cheating ********s. am very annoyed. 1 positive from this whole ******** night is theo. SELL SENDEROS, SELL EBOUE, GET ADEBAYOR MORE SHOOTING FROM 5 YARD LESSONS, BUY WORLD CLASS PLAYERS. our back ups just are not good enough
daveski
Pool knows how to win the CL. Hate them for that!
Fan of Blues
WENGER OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HuddersfieldYiddo
I know that I'm whinging, but I don't care.....I've got a lot to whinge about.
Rocky7
You wish HY, you might actually beat us in the league for the first time in 800 years if that happened.
Rocky7
agreed senderos and eboue were really below par tonight. especially eboue, i have never seen such a wasteful lazy player in an arsenal shirt... say what you like about bad decisions etc etc the lads really have nobody to blame but themselves for all this. see if you can count the missed chances for us over the two legs. cant miss the net that many times and not have it come back to bite you..
Unwell
i can't believe it. I guess Torres V Adebayor, you know why you pay 25m. We had it all and let it go away.
Gael-Force
It was a soft penalty tonight, certainly your penalty claim last week was much stronger. Why doesn't Theo start? He did more damage to us in his 15 minute cameo than Eboue did all game.
JohnDoe
This is ******** bull*****. That was a dive by Babel, hardly any contact with Toure. I'm gutted right now :(, but proud of the lads. They fought well. The penalty decision was a disgrace. Rocky - i think we have every right to ******** whinge, mate. This is just unacceptable. I'm still seething. ***** ***** *****.
prits
feel sick. Arsene's nearly men. If we rely on refs we'll get nowhere. We have the most expensive tickets around and the cheapest team. Time for Wenger to spend our hard-earned cash and get more players with the golden touch. I like Ade but he's no Torres. Ade needs clear chances to score, Torres needs half-chances.
Gael-Force
that's 100% bang on...
lampstand
Good game for a neutral like myself, unlucky guys
marron
I feel for the players. We've suffered a litany of poor decisions in the latter half of the season, not just in the last two champions league games. That and injuries really has caused our season to peter out rather disappointingly. What hurts more is that if we even manage to raise ourselves for the weekend's game we'll only really hand the title to Chelsea. That said I'm currently far more annoyed than the content filter will let me adequately express.
gooncoherent
Yes Arsenal missed chances but they had the game almost won with a spectacular run from Theo, only for The ref to step and change things...deja vu back at the Birmingham match Theo has a match changing impact and the ref decides to step in and change things. It's so hard to take. I will have to concede that Arsenal's meltdown has been self inflicted, too many average players on the pitch because there is not enough quality players to replace them. But I will also say that the major major injuries combined with our best player of the season getting injured at exactly the wrong time (Sagna) combined with every major decision going against Arsenal, even blatant ones in consecutive games, all this has left a very bitter taste in the mouth.
Professor Calculus
JD - I don't know mate, Theo has done more in a couple of CL games this season than Eboue has done all year. All I know is that you better take that luck you got and go and win the ******** trophy!!!
Rocky7
Although i was cheering the reds on tonight, you lot played v.well in the first half. Please, never sell Senderos ;)
HATEtheGOONERS
this is a great team built on the cheap. But we need more to reach that next level. VVV14 was right. Arsenal will be back but Wenger must learn. Without a ready bench you can't survive.
Gael-Force
damn right rocky. the only words that have came out of my mouth havin started with C, and F, apart from that i really dont know what to say, absolutly cheated out of it. so annoyed. there goes our season again. we deserved so much more but what can you do when not just 1 ref but 2s. ****s
daveski
You were 1-0 and you looked liked destroying them. You looked like world beaters. THANK F**K for SENDEROS
HuddersfieldYiddo
At least the ball got in. We were eliminated on a non-existing goal.
k_chelski
"It does feel like UEFA and the FA etc do not want us to win because of the lack of English players. There is no other explination for the constant barrage of bad decisions..." --- What's their excuse for giving decisions against Chelsea when we've played em in the CL then? Unlucky though. I heard Adebayor had scored and put a bet on that there'd be a pen... Earned 5. Doubt that's comforting right now but I'd much rather have kept the Semi in London...
The_Legend_Of_Zola
The anger has now subsided and guttedness has set in.....but I still feel the same way.
Rocky7
MAKES ME PROUD TO SUPPORT ARSENAL!..WENGER IS STILL GOD AND THEO IS A MESSIAH
ajwb
TLOZ - It would comfort me if you took your winnings and bought me some beer ;)
Rocky7
LOLOLOL K CHELSKIIIII
ajwb
My only explanation for Eboue starting is that he must know some dark secret that Wenger wants hidden, Eboue has done nothing all season, or let's just say he's done nothing that Theo could not do, and of course Theo isn't a complete****. Also, everything we Arsenal fans were saying in the summer has come true, Wenger's decision not to replace the significant amount of quality players we lost has proven to be a bad one.
Professor Calculus
I'm sick, gutted, stunned, you name it, so pi$$ed off. Fed up with the same players who are just not good enough, Eboue, Senderos, now I feel Hleb & especially Toure are about to join that list, we have too many liabilities & give away leads too easily, what is it about Arsenal not killing games off & letting the opposition back in the game when we score 1st. We need to get some quality in & lose the players who are causing this team to sink into a bunch of 'could-be's' otherwise, we're gonna end up in a similar position next season.
TH14Legend
Shut up kevin, that was 3 years ago.Let's hope they knock you out with an even dodgy-er goal.
HATEtheGOONERS
Rocky - would if I could. I couldn't believe I found someone willing to bet against Pool getting a penalty! Just saw highlights - Theo was brilliant for your second goal.
The_Legend_Of_Zola
Why do Chelsea fans always forget that if it wasn't a goal, it's a penalty and a sending off for Cech. Arsenal fans have a reason to feel aggrieved, Chelsea fans don't.
JohnDoe
i didnt think eboue did that bad..he's still poo though
ajwb
LOL, K_. You're spot on! ;)
Fan of Blues
stuff untd and you lot will feel better. Imagine Ronaldo crying, losing the title, thousands of united fans, crying in despair.
k_chelski
JD, the throw-in that started the "goal" was also illegal. It was our ball.
k_chelski
Prof - I reckon given the same amount of games even I could come up with the end product that Eboue comes up with. I could even blame the little fella if he decided to leave.
Rocky7
PS. While I'm here, I can't fault Liverpool the way they got through, it was the refs at fault. The scousers didn't cheat, the ref's just got it wrong.
Rocky7
summer clear out anyone ?
TR7
look at the positive...theo walcott!
united4life
Oh it is funny....great game to watch but your season is now over, I don't think the players will recover from that one - out of the top four next season!
shedboy1
just like the end of last season eh sheddy ?!
TR7
k_chelski, so your now saying that we won because of a throw-in that was called in our favor.
JohnDoe
Shedboy if you are going to make dumb comments why don't you go so far as to say we will be mid-table ?....or scrapping in the relegation zone ?....
radar
we can beat teams, but not referees. referees simply hate us! maybe an order from Platini to punish Arsenal.
fcdematthew
It's still illegal! And it would prove even more. The same **** (linesman) that gave you the throw -in , also gave you the feckin goal! It's settled. a semi and a final because of ref staff.
k_chelski
oh ***** off. were 6 points behind the leaders and miles away from 5th so maybe in ur wet dreams tosser
daveski
I guess another London club was conned by Liverpool tonite. Really heartbreak for you guys. You played really well. Unlucky.
chelseaforever
Eboue you s*ck. Toure you s*ck. Adebayor you s*ck. Even tho you scored 1 you missed the earlier chance at 1-2 down. Theo should be starting every game down the right. I think Manure will beat us on the weekend. I guarantee you Eboue will start again.
Will-i-am10
hahahaahaha........hey people you are so.....dissapointed.....hahahaha
Bosko-Macedonia
someone needs to make a you tube videos of all the refereeing decisions against us this season....actually Arsenal FC should get a paid editors to make it and present it to FA and UEFA....at the same time they should make a list of decisions going for us and ask them if they believe us now.... despicable refereeing...im in the USA and I don't understand why the f@#$ the europeans learn from sports in the US....we had a NCAA basketball championship game the other day and a guy threw a shot from the 2 point line and was given 3....the descision was reviewed (only when the whistle had gone) and the error of the refs were corrected.....the last play of the game had the other team tying the game in the last second sending it to overtime (eventually winning) a match which they would have lost if that error not have been corrected......my point at such a professional level when so much money, passion and sweat is on the line teams want to win or lose FAIRLY....we were cheated yet again in the CL....someone needs to address this as I dont want to keep taking off from work to see us being mugged from a win......
gooner83
and on vital liverpool....we are so happpppppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Bosko-Macedonia
BM well done but we both know the truth
Gael-Force
Bosko I dont think you will get so lucky against Chumpsea this time.
Will-i-am10
I would also like to add that I have no problem with Liverpool, during the three games it never got dirty, it was always a football match, two team simply trying to beat each other. It's no exaggeration to say that the refs in these games actually went out of their way to not award Arsenal anything. Oh yeah, Eboue sucks.
Professor Calculus
Like i said in the other thread and CF did above - unlucky boys You were the better team and I know how you must be feeling - I'd MUCH have preferred to be playing you lot in the semis because at least you'll try and play football at our place. Bosko - classy mate. Classy. You really havent got the hang of this class and dignity rubbish have you? You won - well done. JD aint being a knobber about it - why do you have to? Jeez and you wonder why we hate Liverpool fans.
OLASAL
k_chelski, Actually the linesman on the other side gave us the throw-in, not the same linesman as the one who gave us the goal. By the way, it was a goal.
JohnDoe
hi guys, first-time poster etc..etc.. the problem is simply this, we have a very weak team and an even weaker defence. wenger really needs to re-evaluate his priorities now. imo, he s serving the board more than the fans and i believe that is why we never win anything with that attitude!. we ve won nothing since viera left. to be honest, eboue played better than other days, hleb had a very bad game and its not a coincidence that we ve never won a game when gilberto plays. if we dont get new and expensive players, its gonna be same ol same ol.
arsenalhomme
OLASAL, I don't agree with what Bosko-Macedonia posted but he's hardly the only one. Does BITC ring a bell?
JohnDoe
The refs are all anti gooner under platini's orders, get a grip!
shelf16
If ever I saw a face of a man that knew his side were very fortunate to go through it was Steven Gerrard.....A dodgy penalty with five minutes or so to go ?...he must have thought all his xmas's have come at once !!.......Do we hear that on balancce they deserved it ?....NO !....do we hear they were the better side over two legs ?..NO !...Rafa when asked about the penalty dismiised it by saying that they scored four goals.....totally avoiding the fact that the pen was the key moment of the WHOLE tie.....The ref put you through reds...
radar
this is my lowest ever moment as a gooner. even the wayne bridge goal and the paris defeat doesen't hurt so much as this does. no way in the world was that a penalty. pool have been so damn lucky vs inter in both the legs, at emirates and again tonite. the team really cannot do anything more than this to win if the officials are going to do everything they can to stop us from winning..
luckys_10
Always excuses every time you lose, you lose 5-1 its your 2nd team, you blow the league its because sagna gets injured, now you blow the champs league and instead of the obvious reasons that senderos almunia adebayor diaby bendtner are never going to be good enough to progress in the CL its because of the Ref. You should of put to bed the game in the first leg never mind the first half an hour in the 2nd leg.
HuddersfieldYiddo
Well, then it's proven even more. Conspiracy.
k_chelski
He's not a Liverpool fan JD - i'm talking about Liverpool fans coming on to the site of the team you just beat and lording it up having a laugh - not classy. He typifies the classless hordes you share an allegiance with I'm afraid.
OLASAL
the players were burnt out....anyone who plays football knows that with fatigue you get more injuries...although I cant explain rosicky and vanpersie but flamini was definitely overworked and now hes injured...we dont have reserve players that wenger can throw in... the only three things i am critical of with wenger is 1 brings subs on too late....unlike moarinho or SAF who let the player know he is playing ***** (hint eboue) by substituting him...wenger doesnt...waits like in the 75 th minute,..... 2 the reason why wenger doesnt buy "big" name players is he doesnt know how to handle them....imagine a tevez (like manu) on the bench ...he would start monaning and saying he is too good and he should move to madrid...ferguson would put him in place unlike wenger...so when a player become "big"wenger does the easy thing ships him out.... 3 he is in f!@#$$ love with eboue...dunno what it is..... but then again I grew up on wengers tiotal football and anyone who would dare mention him leaving arsenal needs to get his head checked.... well done arsenal you made me a proud gooner ...but we cant do anything about the ref...the only way to make it better would be what I suggested above....like making a compilation of decisions against us... the only tactical mistake by wenger was playing senderos ...it should have been eboue rt back and toure CB to neutralize torres speed.... btw why the ***** did wenger NOT pay 25 million for torres ...we know hes young and quality....wenger wenger....oh well....
gooner83
You can't fault 'pool. They play good percentage football and sometimes it works - the percentages go in their favour. The penalty they got would never have been given for us at the Emirates and the penalty we were denied at the Emirates would never have been denied against us at Anfield. Such are the joys of cup football. Now watch out for the 'Benitez is a master tactician' posts as they flood in. Yet another classic contest of percentage football between Chelsea and Liverpool coming up then. Which one will the percentages fall for and does anyone really care?
Amos.
It was probably not a penalty, but should have been a foul just o/s the box - but what the f--- was Fabregas doing trying to handhold Babel almost in the box ?
ZeeNut
Bosko, we're in the Champs League next year- are you so sure you will be, or are you hoping for a fifth place finish and winning it all this year so you can qualify like last time? Liverpool- the first team in Europe to win the Champions League and not qualify the next year- so force a new rule, the champs must play. Anyway, congrats, beat the Chavs and the Manure. Personally I'm pulling for Roma. . .
elbondo
OLASAL, Only one Liverpool fan came here to laugh, Chelsea fans came in droves to laugh when we lost to Barnsley. How is that classy? Please spare me the condescending attitude, Chelsea fans are no better.
JohnDoe
let me guess the gooners are blaming it on the ref same old moaners............hahahahah
spursinbarca
...........i forgot to mention one thing, ahahahahahahahahahahah 1-0 and you f.c.ked it up you stupid idiots ahahahaha
spursinbarca
the trophy should be handed over to liverpool right now. the refs got it wrong vs inter in both the legs and also against us. what is the point in waiting till may to hand over the trophy to liverpool? uefa should simply hand it over to liverpool right now instead of cheating the footballing world like this..
luckys_10
Why o why do you keep playing Senderos who has cost you many a time in the past ?
ZeeNut
haha and toure got the card....for trying to step away from babel... first leg kuyt pulls hleb down and the ref says brilliant tackle from the arm...welldone UEFA..well done Platini... Again arsenal should make a clipping of the descisions against us and throw it on Platini's face and tell him to get off his asss and try doing something good for a change...same goes for the FA....is there a place in England where UEFA has their office where we can all gather to register our protest so that this doesnt happen with any team in the future....
gooner83
i had this bad feeling in my stomach when flamini was taken off. what a dismal performance by adebayor. without sagna & flamini our defense sucks.
mustaz
No excuses from me, I've been saying for a long time that Arsenal have way too many average freeloaders in the squad. I'm simply pointing out facts, Arsenal were denied a clear penalty and Liverpool were given an extremely soft penalty which sent them through. Arsenal's problems are Arsenal's problems, but no real football fan would have the same decisions made against their side and simply sit back and say "Fair enough". Let's be honest lads, try and apply those ref decisions to your own club and surely you can see why us Arsenal fans feel like we've been kicked in the balls, a defeat hurts but a defeat which was undeniably aided by one sided referee decisions is even harder to take.
Professor Calculus
By the way Rocky, I feel what you feel, and think that every year things go for you and things go against you but this year we were *****ed by injuries and more importantly the refs. People talk about squad depth but we could have had three internationals at every position and it wouldn't have made up for the bad calls over the two matches of the quarterfinal. Hleb wins a penalty, Babel gets a yellow for diving, it's 4-2 Arsenal on aggregate. C'est la vie.
elbondo
Stop crying and get over it...... your gonna win ****all, your gonna win *** all
YidEdy
Have to disagree with you there, elbondo, about Babel 'diving'. Whether or not it was a penalty is debatable, though I believe it was. However, he did not dive. You could see him trying to get to the ball as he ws falling.
Aamir
did anyone watch Arsene's post match interview? i wanna know what he said. feel so sorry for Arsene and the lads. they gave it everything, absolutely everything. yu really cant ask for anything more than this from them..
luckys_10
Spot on Prof. we certainly have our problems, but those problems are magnified ten fold by astonishing decisions like we have seen vs Birmingham, Boro, Liverpool & Liverpool. One thing is for sure though, Theo Walcott can NOT be denied a place in the side this weekend. It simply would not be fair.
Rocky7
SPURSINBARCA....your a disgrace to your club...no wonder you guys are such a pathetic team...I will make it simple for you....as you seem to be mentally challenged... you are not going to be playing in CL or UEFA... when was the last time you played in the CL what is your position in the PL so I guess you know nothing about the European games.... Go celebrate the carling cup...because thats the only thing you will win for a LONG time...btw you will be challenged by our 18 yr olds next year in the cup....haha so please make the practice "talent" finding cup enjoyable for us...
gooner83
I know you girls are feeling a little down, so i've done 20 questions for you in 'Wenger wants Moscow', I hope I done a good job. nite, nite.
YidEdy
Rocky you are forgetting the offside decision vs Chelsea..
luckys_10
JD save it for the Chelsea site mate. Plenty more to be said on there between now and the Final, I assure you of that.
OLASAL
spursinbarca, always respect your opinion mate. some love to give but they just can't take. tut, tut.
YidEdy
gooner83 you tosser our pos in the prem is the same as yours - a long way off man utds haha you tool, seriously you are nothing but also rans, we dont need CL football, we can get di.iced on by liverpool in the league ahahaha, and you know what we will still be able to spend more money then you, tell me will fibreglass leave like henry in search for silverware
spursinbarca
Can't take what YidEdy? We have competed well this season not enough to win the CL or the PL probably but a decent season nonetheless. We'll be competing again next season. It's not all that bad. It's not as though we are finishing in the bottom half of the PL with only the CC to show for the season.
Amos.
I think it was a soft penalty but at the top level players with maturity avoid these sort of decisions going against them. If you've just scored a winning goal you don't grapple with a player in the box with less than ten minutes to go. Last season I was at the spurs sevilla game and although there wasn't much between the teams, sevilla really played the ref and spurs were very naive. Tonight, if arsenal had played as they did in the first 25 mins it would have been a walkover, but Liverpool have more experience and that showed. I don't know why Wenger cleared out all of arsenal's experienced players so quickly (I'm not talking about Henry). Even if they are not playing regularly they are still worth their salaries.
shelf16
Spurs' position in the Prem is the same as ours ? Math lessons in order for the mentally challenged eh.
prits
.....by the way tool, we are in europe next year, we beat the chavs and you 5-1 to get there, remember, its when adeyboyor pronouced his true love for nicky bender
spursinbarca
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger considered the penalty that swung the game late on was 'dodgy' and his side had been the victim of bad decisions in both legs. At the Emirates last week Arsenal were denied a spot-kick when Dirk Kuyt pulled back Alex Hleb, and in this match Liverpool were awarded a spot-kick for a foul on Babel by Kolo Toure. Wenger said: 'I felt at that stage the game was over at 2-2. Then there was a dodgy penalty and we started to lose concentration. 'Over the two games this is hard to swallow. The big decisions over penalties in both matches have gone against us. 'It is difficult to take, the players in the dressing room are very down because they believe week after week the decisions are going against them. 'It was not a penalty tonight, I have seen the replay. But we were denied a clear penalty last week. That was a real penalty, this one wasn't.' He added: 'And even at 2-2 we had a great chance to kill the game off. But we lacked experience and made big mistakes. 'We conceded a goal from a corner and gave Fernando Torres too much room when he scored. 'It will be hard now, we have to go to Manchester United next at the weekend, but we will try to finish strongly. But we still feel a great sense of injustice.'
luckys_10
i dont think arsene gave one or he has done it very late. YidEdy u can try wind us up because were still better than you, your like 11th or 12th in the league and thats where your going to stay, ur a disgrace to the league when they said "were going to be in the top 4" hahahahaha hahahaha actually thats really funny, thanks i needed that to lighten me up hahahahaha makes me feel better hahahaha spuds are *****e hahaha top 4, spuds? hahaha we shud all feel better now its a funny joke every1
daveski
Hahaha...I love it when the saddo spuds come on here gloating....saying we gonna win ***** all....course you know that feeling very well.....just listen spuds...its TOUGH at the very top of the game...ask yer dads and grandads....they will tell you ...now run along and leave us to bitch and moan amongst ourselves...
radar
SPURSINBARCA..."we dont need CL we can get diced on by liverpoolin the league" haha ...wellsaid...but I need to give the spurs this much they do support clubs like Charlton when they spend 16 million for bent....but hey seriously I dont see why you would be here as a spurs fan...I would be too embarrassed to go in public EVER...i AM JUST glad you realize your team is pathetic...
gooner83
there yu can read Arsene's comments. if we all feel shattered here. imagine what the team must be going through..
luckys_10
sorry i forgot prits your still gonna win the prem and the CL, sorry stupid me duh
spursinbarca
That was aimed at the brainless gloaters...not the spuds who want to make constructive comments....
radar
Yep Spurs position in the PL is the same as ours. They are 29 points off bottom and 37 points off top. We are 60 points off bottom and 6 points off top. Only in Spudland - that's much the same thing. It's a bit like NeverNeverland only less realistic.
Amos.
yeah my comments are also for SPURSINBARCA...dont mind the rest of the spurs for their constructive criticism...
gooner83
We need competition at all posts. Noone's challenging the starting XI. Who's challenging Clichy, Fabregas, Flamini, Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Eboue at RM, Diaby at LM, Ade upfront? Noone. This means that the first team can't be touched. Our bench is rubbish and we don't spend any money so we get what we deserve: also-rans. You can'y make magic out of nothing.
Gael-Force
awe, you hurt my feelings, i came on here to make some new friends. never mind. You are right of course i'd rather be an also ran, than win something. The best part was watching the 4 wheels come off one at a time. CC, FA, CL, & league, and then there was none. Almost as funny as watching fabrigas chasing Babel 100 yards for nothing, hillarious. LOL
YidEdy
Wonder if wenger saw the babel pen. LOL
YidEdy
Decent points shelf16. The reliance on youth and the need to let some experienced players go early was part of the financial plan to build the new stadium. The worst of restrictions that placed on team building is now behind us and we should be able to build the team on more conventional lines in the future. But you are right - it has cost us over the last three seasons - just a little less each season though and each season has got that little bit better.
Amos.
I didn't watch it since it wasa 3:00 o'clock in the morning but from what you say about the match then I'm really depressed and mad at the result and the ref and Eboue (again) I think that we actually lost this season due the refs dodgy descions, it started VS Brum and continued for the next 4-5 games, that is really bad for a team challenging for the title. Also, why the F*CK is Eboue in the starting XI again!!!??? That nutcase can do NOTHING. I'd have thought Wenger would have let Walcott do something about it yet he has dissapointed me again. That nut has done nothing right this season. I want him outta here in the summer and a new winger for both flanks and maybe a defensive MF too. How's Flamini???
stukazufuss
I admire Arsene a lot but in football today every top club spends money and reinforces itself. MU won the league and splashed 50m on 3 players. What have we got coming this summer? Another kid: Carlos Vela.
Gael-Force
YidEdy, you would give anything to change places with us this season and you know it. THAT is even sadder than not winning anything.
Rocky7
Better that chasing the ball round ALL season in the premier league for FECK ALL Yidedy...
radar
...ahahahahahha, the thing is eddy you predicted this ages ago i remember and one at a tie the preminitions became true, 3 years without a trophy they are such a big club, i bet they wish they could swap positions with cardiff now
spursinbarca
At least we had four wheels this season YidEdy. Whereas yours was a bit of a moped of a season.
Amos.
spursinbarca, hate to burst your bubble but even hard core Chavs don't give a f*** about losing the CC to you lot. Enjoy the cup and 12th place in the league. What was the score against Newcastle again? Even a master technician can't work with crap.
elbondo
as hilarious as spud board chasing juan de ramos around the world for spuds to get stuffed 4-1 at home to newcastle?
daveski
sorry if you were at the final you would know the chavs did care, and u got knobed by them in the league we drew 4-4 with nothing to play for, ps, you cr-ap, the emirates is the worst atmoshpere in football, and you will still win the league dont worry hahaha
spursinbarca
guys let's not reply to the haters posts. that's what they are after. this arsenal team is miles ahead of spurs. They would jump on the chance to have our reserves in their starting eleven.
Gael-Force
, no honestley if it wernt for boro, wigan and birmingham that awsome 3 you may still be in the title race, its a shame your sh.it
spursinbarca
In the premier league you have nothing to play for most years from week one !!...oh no sorry.. premier league status is important i guess...
radar
I think the score against the barcodes was 4-1 and very humiliating it was, but back to todays lessons, I reckon that Arsene has to finally dig deep into his pockets and buy two to four quality players to bolster the youth. Simillarly, Ramos needs to buy two or three quality players as we have squad players coming out of our arses. It is just intriguing that Liverpool who are in many ways so rubbish seem to pull off these two way ties.
shelf16
.......just saw the post match interviews, gerrard said it was the worst performance he put in a red shirt ahahahaha
spursinbarca
You drew with the chavs at your place spursinbarca we beat then at ours. We lost at their place by a smaller margin than you did. We took 3 points off them you took 1. But in the wonderful fantasy world of Spudland thats much the same thing of course
Amos.
gael-force we would jump at your reserves???, is that the smae bunch that we raped 5-1 or is that another bunch? tool
spursinbarca
Some of the youth players will have gained experience this season. Bendtner, Senderos, Walcott will be more useful to us next season as a consequence of the experienced gained this season. Wenger will strengthen a couple of positions next season but we need to keep the core of the side together. Ramos might be tempted to undertake a more dramatic rebuild. That will take time to settle if he does.
Amos.
i feel sick. This team has taken us everywhere from the lowest to the highest. To be a great champion you need to know the taste of failure. It's hard to swallow but we'll be back stronger than ever. I truly believe that. I worry about Cesc. he deserves a winning team to show his talent.
Gael-Force
im sorry to repeat myself again guys but eboue did not play half as bad as he has the propensity to. that said, wenger must, i mean must now reevaluate this rubbish notion of not spendinf money. its not like other teams are gonna stand still whilst our players leisurely mature and get up to speed. im sorry to say it but maybe this may finally clear our manager's eyes. al*x f**gerson et al arent no fools when then spend millions, we should start doing the same.
arsenalhomme
We were never really contesting the coca cola cup sprusinbarca. We ain't fighting for a paper cup and a crate of beer. Too low for us. Sorry. We gave that match away and i was happy we did. Gives your lot a chance. When was the last time you beat us in the league when it does matter?
Gael-Force
seems like Wenger believes more in a half fit RvP than a fully fit Bendtner. i wonder where Bendtner will stand in the pecking order next season. i rate him. he just needs to be more consistent.
fcdematthew
You people say the ref did this and the ref did that. Just man up and say you lost. Just like 2 years ago when we "coincidentally" came down with some bad food poisoning before the final day of the season. If you want your penalty from the 1st leg, then we want a replay of the game at Upton Park. Silly *****s. YOUR SEASON'S OVER LA LA LA LA LA
WhiteHartSpur
actuall gael force just cause your fans wernt singing it doesnt mean your players wernt fighting, they were, remember adeybuyor and bender, hahaha, by far my favourite memrory of this season hahahahah
spursinbarca
AH you are right. time to spend a bit of cash. we sold henry and reyes last summer for a combined 24m. We bought Sagna and Edu for a combined 13m. Today we moan about having no wingers. What's all that about? Where's the 11m excess gone? With that money and a top up, we could have picked up another couple of players.
Gael-Force
WHS... i was the one who spiced up the lasagne. There you have it. Full confession. lock me up now. happy?
Gael-Force
.......2nd best moment of the season was the 1st leg when bender jumped to save fibreglasses shot, i tell you what i think hes a spurs fan...aaahhh, maybe thats why adeybuyor hit him at the lane!
spursinbarca
Yep, that more or less wraps up your season...maybe next season eh? :)
Blue is the colour
Your favourite memory of this season was the fight between Ade & Bendtner and not your CC win ??!! Ahh, poor poor spud. You need help !
prits
get a life SIB. got nothing better to do than watch arsenal on CL tuesday? I know for sure i never watched spurs on UEFA cup Thursdays.. or any day for that matter.
Gael-Force
Amos, you are probably right, Wenger would only need to make a couple of signings to make everything ok, but those signings are probably the opposite to the kind he is used to making. Gallas was probably an unusual signing for wenger, but as he was older than what 20? he made him captain. Ledley King will probably never play regular football again, but as someone who helps pay his wage, I would like to see him stay at spurs for the rest of his career. Even if it is just to train the youngsters, he has a lot of experience to pass on. This is a side to club football which I am sad to see declining. Could arsenal not have paid Bergkamp to stay on and teach the youngsters mental strength etc? It's all about money now and that's a bit sad.
shelf16
Gael - yes, its time to spend some money on players, and I'm sure Wenger realises that. He knew it was a bit of a risk with this squad size, and unfortunately, it didnt pay off. I dont think the problem is a lack of money. Arsenal dont have a 70M 'war chest' as the media reports, but surely, there is enough money to spend on 2-3 Wenger type players (meaning, dont cost more than 6-8 M, tops). We will see that fixed over the summer.
prits
GF i work in a pub, we dont put coronation street on the tv, i watch football every night of the week no matter who plays
spursinbarca
Again I have to ask Spursinbarca- where are you in the league table, and how far did you get in the Champions League this year? What? You've nver qualified for the Champions League? Okay then, ***** off. Apparently the official latin motto of Spuds is Schadenfreude, which is to say they can't win glory themselves so let's mock those that are our betters when they fail.
elbondo
SIB: tell me the truth now. you like arsenal deep down don't you.? You wish you were a gooner. If Arsenal didn't exist, you'd be lost.
Gael-Force
Just to finish off. I support spurs but that doesn't mean I wouldn't watch Arsenal v liverpool in a champions league quarter final. I want to watch good football. Secondly, if you lot win the cc next year you better be a bit grumpy about it cos apparently it means sweet FA!
shelf16
ok elbondo ill put it simple - this year we aint goning to win the CL or the Prem, oh look snap!!!!! you are also rans nothing more.
spursinbarca
Yes, I know schadenfruede is a German word, but I really miss the old days when rival Spuds fans were people I met face to face, not a bunch of cowards behind keyboards.
elbondo
Prits: i hope AW hears you but brace yourself for another bargain buy this summer. Our players are running out of steam. Cesc is tired, and when that happens, injuries are never far.
Gael-Force
Eboue is and always has been a bag of toys. Senderos forgot marking is a prerequisite for defenders in football....and refs should be there to officiate, not to influence the outcome of the damn game! How many times do teams (not even just Arsenal) have to play against a 12 man side in key matches!? What's the word on Flamini?
SUX2BU
If we are also rans, what are you?
elbondo
we are a club that took its fans to wembley against the most expensive team on this planet and won, no matter what you call it the fans loved it, your fans are misreable all their dream sdestroyed no wonder your stadium has no atmoshphere, even high-library had some noise
spursinbarca
GF if you were the one that spiced up my lasagne I was the one that chose the team sheet for the 2nd leg of our semi final! Shambles mate...accept your defeat tonight. Maybe next year fools.
WhiteHartSpur
also nearly rans? nearly ran alsos? could have run but didn't quite get there?
shelf16
Senderos made a mistake for the first time in a while. Yes, he should have had Hyypia tied up. But you can also ask why a short guy like Cesc was on the far post when a good header and much taller guy like Adebeyor should have been there.
elbondo
Had a niggling injury so broke into a light jogs?
shelf16
At least we'll get yet another chance......fool
SUX2BU
Gael, I really dont care if they are bargain buys. I dont think any of us have a problem with the quality of Wenger's signings, just that he hasnt made enough of them. If he buys a winger for 3M, I'm certain he will be Arsenal quality.
prits
Prits, the issue is those 3m players are prospects.. talented guys like dEnilson etc.. they won't be ready to play. I have nothing against up and coming talent but you need performers. Nani and Anderson cost 35m because although young they have enough experience to come on and contribute
Gael-Force
I dont think Arsenal is in a position to make two 15M signings in a summer ala Nani & Anderson. Sagna cost 6M, Eduardo cost 8M. If Wenger can sign 2-3 players of their quality, it will be good enough IMO. If players of that quality come for 3M, hardly matters eh. I actually think Denilson is ready to play, step in for Cesc for a few games. I dont know where he's disappeared, last I heard, he was injured in that games against Colorado Rapids. So injuries havent been kind to us.
prits
GF you are spot on!
shelf16
if you buy bargains, you need to give them a couple of years to mature. Let's hope Denilson gives Cesc and Flam a run for their money next season. That would mean that we can keep the whole squad fresh. Look at players like Song, Djourou, Denilson, Walcott, Traore. They are fresh but AW would rather play tired players than them. This means he knows they are not quite up there yet. If they don't play where will they develop?
Gael-Force
Yes we were ripped off over the 2 legs against pool, but it doesnt change the fact we lacked in certain areas as a team this season. Those areas are: 1) defence where senderos and toure are not good enough. Sagna has been excellent. 2) Midfield where Fab has looked tired the past few months, Hleb has all the talent and wont use it, and Rosicky is a useless SOB who is always injured. Eboue, well I can play better than Eboue. Nuff said. Give Walcott a start already. 3) Strikers, where Adebayor started well which I think was down to luck, but also down to his enthusiasm of trying to impress. Once he realised he was our first choice he became too comfortable, and without competition his game suffered badly. He is not the same player who used to run hard and control the ball the way he did when Henry was #1 choice. RVP is too injury prone and Bendtner has done ok. We have done ok, but a season is 38 games not 28.
Will-i-am10
Our main job this summer is to sign a couple of alright wingers, a top striker and keep cesc. There will be another fight to hold onto cesc. Our luck is that cesc seems to really love it here, bad weather and all...
Gael-Force
Actually Gael, its our defence that needs the most work ;). We aint going to win anything if we keep defending like that.
prits
true... a solid defence is a prerequisite. toure and gallas looked good early in the season. don't know why it all went downhill
Gael-Force
senderos was shocking on that first goal. Get the ball or mark the man. Big Phil was watching the game. A nudge on Hyypia would have been more than enough to put him off. Comedy defending.
Gael-Force
Anyway, good night people. tomorrow is another day. how we pick ourselves up from this for sunday, i don't know.
Gael-Force
Our defense went downhill when Toure went away to ACN. He came back tired and injured.
gunnerkid107
Sagna..Toure...Gallas...Clichy. We cant get much better than that back 4. The problem is that we have no one that can back them up.
gunnerkid107
One of the saddest moments in my 14 years of watching football. Up there with Australia being beaten by Iran in the 1998 WC qualifier. I am just stunned. And what tops it off is my scouser mate rubbing it in wishing me 'good luck in the league'. ANALYSIS: Eboue out, Gilberto out, Bring in CB to push out Senderos as back up, start theo for the rest of the season, buy a clinical striker, and two midfielders comfortable on the wings, a LB. This would not go on at any other top club in the world. We need success. Wenger needs to open that 70 million pound warchest. Would this happen at Madrid? Capello won them the league and he got the boot.
Aussie Gooner
Sorry to disappoint you Aussie but there is no 70m war chest. Just tabloid hype. There are funds available for team development but this team has shown that it has the quality to compete. The buys need to be strategic and capable of strengthening what we have. Don't expect glamour signings but we will augment the team in a freer way than we have been able to in recent years.
Amos.
Amos, as an Aussie i have no idea of how much 70 million pounds is lol but i do know we have more funds available than in recent seasons. Im not expecting a signing in the magnitude of Torres, just a few players with experience who would thrive at Arsenal. Think Miguel, Martins, Deco etc. Im not saying these players in particular but we need replacements who are ready to play first team football. Look what we got from Sanga at 7?? million.
Aussie Gooner
Saying that, I love Wengers policy of encouraging youth, just need a few more experienced heads to guide us through.
Aussie Gooner
It's about 150m AUSD Aussie. We do have more funds now than at any point over the last 5 years but we do still carry a lot of doubt of which about 60m (125m AUSD) has to be repaid in under 5 years. I think we will be a little more adventurous in the transfer market this season - though not threatening to set any new transfer records..
Amos.
Sorry 'doubt' should read 'debt'! Though maybe we have a bit of both at the moment.
Amos.
Aussie, of course as a fellow colonist (Canada) I felt your pain in 1998. But you're in an easier group now- you can win Asia. I was disappointed but not gutted by today's loss. I half expected it to be decided by a dodgy call. I like Senderos long term, I think he's a future captain, but I have no problem with bringing in somebody to push him for his spot as #1 CD backup. For all Walcott has done recently and today, if he doesn't get the right wing spot over Eboue I won't blame him if he asks for a transfer. Maybe if he was playing for England instead of 'run the ball quickly to the touch line and give Croatia a goal kick' Aaron Lennon then we'd be rooting for England in the Euros rather than the team with the most Gunners.
elbondo
Yes, Lennon the mug is absolutely rubbish elbondo. I agree with you on Senderos too. He plays extremely well for periods, but just clocks off every now and then which costs us dearly. Maybe an established international CB. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. Mertesacker anyone? Although he could break the bank a little.
Aussie Gooner
I want to see Theo upfront. I was gutted Arsene took so long to play him. Eboue has absolutely no end product, Theo on the other hand is becoming too good to leave out of the squad. We need him on Sunday. Not as a super-sub but as a starter.
Keplaz
hats of to gooners 2nite! a brilliant game to watch. Well i must say it's temping to ask 'now you believe in the myth...?' :) That's what an intimidating stadium (or KOP to be precise) can be influenced on any man on the pitch. make it to our favour or against our opponents. It's hard to argue whether the 'men in black' also influenced... but 0.05% intimidated soul can sometimes swayed his decision in our favour (...and with that statement, Chelski fans will defo remind us the 'ghost goal of 2005') :P well good luck lad meeting MU... obviously i'm rooting for u guys! p/s - between Spuds & Gooners... Men in Red all the time :P
Inoue Takahiro
Inoue I prefer Everton you silly *****.
WhiteHartSpur
Carling Cup defeat and its just a *****y little cup, FA cup defeat and you had bigger fish to fry now 6 points off the league and dumped out of CL by Liverpool. Whats left Gooners? Oh thats right NOTHING you fools.
TergeHauge
WhiteHartSpur... that's soooo obviously. Why on earth would you NOT LIKEY Evertonne as****. Spuds & Bitters... loser match made in middle league table :)
Inoue Takahiro
How can we compete when the referees constantly are getting decisions wrong agains us. Birmingham penalty, Middlesbrough dissalowed goal, Chelsea offside goal, Liverpool in all 3 games penalties. I wont say conspiracy, and i dont want to look like i am clutching at straws, but its hard not to feel screwed.
paul_ownz
paul_ownz... Too much negative aura in London! Get rid off Chelski & The Spud Bobs... problems solved :P
Inoue Takahiro
If they call us moaners, so be it. All this has just been utterly outrageous. (Believe me, I'm not upset, I had a shower, watched a movie, did some reading after the game. Now I'm totally calm. Just think it's so unfair.)
Lou the Gunneress
Of course we don't want our players to go around cheating. But someone has to teach the players the subject "Defence Against the Dark Arts." I know it's a Harry Potter thing. Seriously, the way they (Hleb especially) genuinely fall looks like they're going down too easily. Then the way they defend/chase their opponents looks like they're pulling him. I don't mean diving, but is there something we can practise to get fair treatment from the refs? (Apart from Eboue I mean.)
Lou the Gunneress
Someone mentioned Rafa made a pack with Champions League Devil (. .')
Inoue Takahiro
Just thinking of Lou in the shower. . . : )
elbondo
You too eh...............
SUX2BU
Transfer activity for the summer: 1) Sell Gilberto 2) Sell Senderos 3) Possibly sell Eboue.. and then buy a few quality players!!
arsenalrulz4ever
I'm always willing to admit when my team has been outplayed. If we were second best and deserved to lose, then well done to the other team. But the fact that we have been robbed of this result is really just to much. It's almost as if the ref was looking for an excuse to give them that penalty he blew his whistle that quickly. There really is no justice in football.

Shocking... :O I never bother to post in any football-related forum before but if this the manner of Arsenal fans... very mature in defeat that is... I'm shocked. I never have a problem accepting Pool's defeat before... being a fan since 1984, our league form since Premier League begun kinda taking a toll, if u know what i mean. Worse, working with ManU colleagues for ages kinda push me to the edge God knows for how many times :P But, Hat's off to u Gooners... .U guys have almost everything apart from luck, i guess. Good luck for this weekend clash with ManU.
Inoue Takahiro
Still ladeis look on the bright side. The most important thing is that Wenger still thinks you can win the Champions League.
The Tailor
Inoue, almost everything dont include trophies obviously.
TergeHauge
LOL @ TergeHauge... Spur's fan me bet :)?
Inoue Takahiro
Hi, I'm french, and i'm a neutral point of view.....What a match, unbelievebale.......Sorry to say that but there is penalty, there is even two fouls on Babel, the first from Cesc at the limit of the box and the second by Toure...... there is penalty yesterday night as there was penalty in the first leg, this referee might gave it in the first leg if it was him, who knows..... You have to reckon Liverpool played better than Arsenal, Adebayor is miles away from Torres, who is a really really World Class Stricker. Senderos was poor, as was Eboue. Arsenal gave the match after their first goal, they didn't control the game, and let Liverpool come back in the game......Big mistake.......I'm disappointed by Wenger, why Walcott didn't start, or come in a the half time........ Great game anyway, amazing Andfield, and hope they kick Chelsea ass in the semi-final before take care of ManU.......
FloG
@FloG... thank God Arsenal blessed with fan like u. I agree... to an extend about the 1st leg claimed penalty. If the same guy ref the game @ Emerites, he would've give it. The problem with that incident was Hleb (?) was (to the ref's eyes) 'looking for penalty'. If he stayed on his feet he has a better change at beating Reina.
Inoue Takahiro
WhityehartSpur - "Just man up and say you lost. Just like 2 years ago when we "coincidentally" came down with some bad food poisoning before the final day of the season." Do you not see the irony in that statement? You telling us to man up and live with it and then bringing out the same old stupid conspiracy theories about Spur's gutrot? You absolute cretin.
Moorish
Liverpool fan in peace, i just want to congratulate Arsenal's fans for their dignity and grace in defeat, you only have to look on our site to see that, obviously on this site there will be and rightly so, a few down-beated posters. I thought over the two legs, it was evenly matched and for a refs decision in both games the result would and could have been different. Chelsea fans are the sourest in defeat, after last years semi in Anfield, they kept saying only one team tried to win the game(but seem to forget we won the game 1-0) so imagine if we had of tried to win! lol. The first 25 mins last night was the best I have ever seen an opponent dominate and pass the ball around(even more so than in Milan in 05). But I would have to credit us for getting back in the tie and then taking the lead. When Adebayor scored, the noise of the Liverpool crowd was incredible for a team who was on the verge of defeat, then the peno and the Babel goal. For a team who scores 4, albeit, one dubious, i would have been gutted to go out. Just want to wish Arsenal all the best in the run in, win against the scum on Sunday and will put the shakes on the Mancs and the Chavs. BTW did anyone see the highlights from the Chelsea game, plastic fans, blue and white flags handed out, we bring our own scarfs and flags, to which i feel seperates us from anyone in Europe. Good luck to Arsenal YNWA
Eusebio
Who's that traveling BLUE fanS with FREE tickets to away games ;)
Inoue Takahiro
Moorish, for me there were both penalty. In the first leg for Arsenal and in the second leg for liverpool, so. But there is one difference like said Eusebio, it is Hleb, he looked for the penalty more than Babel did i think, and that might played in referee's mind. You can blame the first referee, but not the second one, he didn't commit any mistake. You also can blame, Wenger's lack of ambition by putting in the first start eleven Eboue and not Walcott, blame Bendtner for his "magnificient" block in the first leg, or blame Adebayor for his lack of lucidity and efficiency in the box and on great occasions. IMO Liverpool deserve it cos, after Adebayor's goal, 99.99& of the team, would go down, and would be blowed by this goal, they weren't. For a neutral point of view i congratulate both teams, they gave me an exiting football game yesterday, one of them you remember. So Thanks Arsenal and thanks Liverpool for this amazing match....
FloG
I know there have been a lot of people posting trying to annoy arsenal fans on here but i thought i would see if i could change your perspective a little. It is all well and good blaming penalty decisions for your loss but surely if you had taken the chances that you impressively created for yourselves then you would have gone through with ease. It is not a case of was it or wasn't it but more of Adebayor should have put his shot in on target when through on goal. I totally understand that he was slightly unsighted and didnt expect the ball to come to him but a player of his class should be putting them away. At the end of the day you played well and were involved in a great match. I know this is little consolation though. My personal view is that babel was fouled, he attempted to carry on but was unbalanced and couldn't stay up. It was a penalty. It was also a penalty in the first leg. All teams feel hard done by when several bad decisions go against them and i am sure it will never change. AW needs to strengthen his squad as that is what has cost you success this year. For you it would be good to have wingers but i dont think that is the main issue. You have very little class players to call on when people like Adebayor ect are injured. That is why man utd are so good as they can call on quality players in all positions
spursfan4eva
I am soo p1ssed off with you gooners. :(:( How could you loose to liverScum???? Now we have to play them in the Semis (AGAIN). I really didn't wanna watch another Chelsea-Pool boring game.
bobosh13

YidEdy
wenger is a cry baby. i knew he wud complain after the match about something. wat a bollox. cud he nt jus admit that liverpoo were the better team
stephen mchugh
Unbelievable..... Arsenal get roundly beaten in the second leg and everyone starts whinging. Grow up! Hleb was unlucky not to get a penalty in the first game, however Toure clearly impeded Babel, both are tough decisions but this is what happens in football. Liverpool had the best of the second leg and deservedly won it. Arsenal though could have snatched it had they taken their chances. There is no global conspiracy against Arsenal, just the way football is. It's the small teams who don't get decisions against the big ones that are conspired against. The fact is Arsenal have too small a squad, and are fast running out of steam. I only wish Wenger could learn a bit of humility as his stance is often an embarrassment. Only a week or so ago he was defending a horrendous challenge by Diaby and now he's throwing all his toys out of the pram....Grow Up!
meesterlee
see our saeason fell apart in the 1st 3 months, but we made something of it you tools threw it all away........maybe next year
spursinbarca
No one is saying there is a global conspiracy, meesterlee! They are saying there were two poor penalty decisions. I think you'll find we leave the talk of conspiracies to the Spuds fans and their tales of fiendish lasagne plots.

Spursinbarca - still suffering from THIC I see. (Tottenham Hotspur Inferiority Complex). Sad little man.

moorish i told you id haunt you filth when you got knocked out, i must be a psycic, ahahahahaha, your seasons over and you won feck all

a bit like last year
spursinbarca
oops and the year before that, damn you really are a massive club, all spurs fans should be jealous that you keep getting in the CL and screwing it up, it must be wengers massive massive spending power, i wish we were a big club, and our stadium had dynamite atmoshphere like yours lol
spursinbarca
Actually Moorish that is exactly what the main post is implying and plenty of the thread is following on with. The small details which Wenger should concern himself with are as follows: 1) If you watch the sequence of events that led to first Liverpool goal, you will see that it is Almunia who is the primary culprit. The sequence starts with Aurelio sending a typically aimless long ball to Torres. Torres chases it with no hope, the ball is under Gallas's attention on the deep right Arsenal channel and it is either on its way for a goal kick or Gallas will play it back to Almunia. But Almunia sprints and kicks it out for a throw-in. From that Gerrard and Aurelio link, Aurelio crosses and there is the corner. You know the rest. A manager like Mourinho would be obsessed with such a small detail and instruct the goalkeeper not to concede rubbish throw-ins so deep in your half. Detail is everything and it wins games. 2) In the second Liverpool goal, Gallas attacks the long clearance from Reyna leaving Senderos to take care of Torres in the box. For one thing, Senderos is better in the air than Gallas, whereas Gallas would have a much better chance in not letting Torres turn and unleash his vicious shot. So we have a typical mismatch. Crouch wins the header from Gallas and Senderos lets Torres turn. 3) 85th minute: After his glorious run in the Arsenal equalizer, Walcott is still in the clouds and takes it easy. He lets Babel pick the ball in the left channel without any pressure. Even worse, Toure commits himself too early and lets Babel turn inside. Once Toure is behind Babel, he should just leave him and let Gallas deal with him. Gallas is in much better position to steer Babel to the touchline as Babel is going heads on towards Gallas.
meesterlee
yidedy I was a little busy last night unfortunately. However, I must say the game was a joy to watch and as ever it's good to see the gooners excelling in the CL again... I liked your post with the 20 questions.. not sure the gooners did though..
The Tailor
Yeah, you are "haunting" people, Barca. Not just showing yourself up as a enormous bell-end. Riiiiiiiiight. THIC.
Moorish
Lee, where does the article imply a conspiracy? Unless you think "should count themselves lucky that the footballing gods were smiling down on them" is actually an argument that there are real footballing gods taking favour with Liverpool?! The article bemoans bad luck. It does not imply conspiracy. Don't get carried away.
Moorish
Moorish, there's no such thing as fate....
meesterlee
I am quite tired of Arsenal fans saying we should not depend on the referees when this is what other teams have to do to beat us! Arsenal are not depending on the refs to win a match but we are hoping that a refs decision will not cause us to loose, big difference there. The refs are a vital part of the game so how can we discount the decsions they make?. Arsenal defense is crap, Eboue lazy and Walcott should start, Ade should have scored, Arsene should have bought add that to all the injuries and that makes an even greater case for the complaints of the refs unjust decisions that have all but cost us the PL and definately the CL. Somethings wrong but there is more than enough right to come from this brilliant team! Im exited!!! God Bless!
Paulsito
One more thing, how comes our players are not good enough now? at least some fans think so. The players seemed to not be good enough after the terrible Birmingham match but were good enough all along (maybe not Eboue). I remember Arsenal fans saying Walcott is not good enough and now he should start ahead of Eboue (TRUE DAT!), Senderos should be sold then recently should have started ahead of Toure, now he is crap again! Ade is crap play Bendtner, Ade starts scoring than Bendtner is not ready yet or is crap - Can we make our minds up, please? Its amazing that a team with so many garbage players can be in third postion after being robbed so many times ans had so many injuries! Lets support the team and stop crying so much, please!! There is more to be proud of as an Arsenal fan than to complain about. I have been a fan for a long time and have watched greats like Liam Brady, Frank Stapleton and Pat Jennings play but have never been prouder as an Arsenal fan!!! we have a young undersized, injury riddled, inexperienced team that would be in first place and CL semis if not for the refs (not bad luck, bad calls). Lets celebrate the postives and look forward to the many silverware to come!!! God Bless!
