'If It's Football, It's Vital'

This Week's Twenty

1. So the Scousers luck finally ran out. Why the hell do Chelsea of all teams have to benefit? That`s our karma you`re hogging!

2. Why couldn`t Ronaldo take a penalty like that when he stepped up against us two weeks ago?

3. If the gutter press are to be believed, how the hell are we going to field a team for next season?

4. Anyone else absolutely sick to death of transfer rumours? There are still three games to go before the window opens!

5. Is Diaby the new Rosicky?

6. Have Hleb and Flamini appeared in an Arsenal shirt for the final time?

7. Where the hell was Steven Gerrard on Tuesday night?

8. How the hell did Barca v United conspire to be such a tedious affair whilst Liverpool v Chelsea was actually, whisper it quietly, a decent attacking game?

9. Is William Gallas` sit in against Birmingham to blame for the crash in the property market?

10. Kolo Toure this week gave a revealing interview to Sky Sports. Predictably, like another Arsenal defender I can think of, his words have been twisted by media contortionists. Why hasn`t this caused Arsenal fans to label him a disgrace and too outspoken and selfish to play for Arsenal? (Like another Arsenal defender I can think of would have been).

11. Who at the BBC thought it was a good idea to make Steve McLaren part of the Radio Five Live commentary team for Euro 2008? (I remind you that the BBC is funded by the public).

12. Why so little uproar following Juve General Manager Luciano Moggi ill advised comments about gay people not being welcome at Juventus?

13. Wayne Rooney declares on his official website, "Yeah, there is too much diving now, especially among foreigners; they don't consider it as a bad thing. They see it as a professional way of going for advantage.' Is this the most hypocritical statement ever made by anyone in the history of the world ever, in perpetuity throughout the universe?

14. Should we start picking members of our all conquering ladies` team in the men`s side?

15. Was that a come and get me plea from Henry?

16. Mark Clattenburg`s shove on Mehdi Nafti last week. Refs fighting back or refs going overboard?

17. Will Neil Warnock ever entertain the notion that maybe, just maybe, Sheffield United were relegated because they were shit?

18. Does the F.A. have the legal right to fine managers and players for complaining about officials? They don`t pay players wages, they don`t employ players, how can they take money off them?

19. 'You will see the real Tottenham. The way that the manager wants the team to play, that will come next season.' This is a quote touted in today`s press from Robbie Keane. Is it me, or is this just another case of journalists rehashing old quotes again?

20. Is George Graham really in a position to lecture Arsenal about what to do with their money?

Two NBs here. Firstly, four years ago today Arsenal won the league at White Hart Lane, be sure to send all Spurs fans a nice anniversary card. Secondly, following one of my questions last week, well done to the official Arsenal magazine for comprehensively covering the terrific away support at Old Trafford on the first two pages of this month's issue. If you look at the very top left of the picture, last person in the shot, you'll see a young gentleman in a green jacket standing on his seat. Good lookinG guy too!LD.

Again no JT. I'm shocked! Gerrard was busy getting MOTM btw, that's why he was nowhere to be seen. ;))
Fan of Blues
JT has given me a lack of material. However, Gerrard is such a knob that there's ALWAYS material to mine!

Would it be the worst thing in the world if Henry came back?! Surely not! Although Wenger definitely won't consider bringing him back, will he?
arsenalrulz4ever
i think i would take TH14 back if given the option.. hes learned some valuable lessons in spain such as grass not being greener or something bout rain in spain on plains... either way a focused henry would do our goal tally no harm.
Unwell
i dont think it'd be the worst hing....i think it'd be a descent buy.and we'd get an henry hu's legs are firmly on the ground an dhe'd probably almost be a squad player...imagine goin to games with henry on the bench..........that wouldn't be too bad me thinks...but i dont think henry is goin to move newhere
karley
21) Lampard asking Drogba not to attend his mums funeral, he doesn't want him diving in the box...............
PUREGOLD
Yeah, you're wasting valuable brain time even entertaning that thought
AFC85Lew
I think players have come out of their shell and blossomed since he has left. Responsibility is shared out. If he were to return would this have the opposite effect now? If he came back he would have to be a different player, not the centre of all our play.
paul_ownz
Henry coming back would be a massive backwards step. We were correct to get rid for a number of reasons. But mainly, his injury record, as is always the case with sciatic injuries, has been poor. Selling Henry was Wenger's big statement that he believed in his youngsters, to renege on it now would be suicide. It would be Wenger saying, "I was wrong to have faith in you."

1. thatís due to Romanís pact with the devil; heíll suffer in hell for eternity in exchange for football trophies, billions in wealth and a good suit; Satan is still working on the good suit / 2. well the invincible Ronaldo canít handle the pressure of a venue like a CL semifinal at the Camp Nou (the atmosphere there on European nights makes Anfield look like a wake, I know, I've been there); whereas at home with a crowd gushing over him and a friendly ref, itís a different story / 9. yes; also global warming, bad hairdos, heartburn, and you know those cheap shoelaces where the metal thingies pop out and then you have a helluva time putting your frayed laces thru the holes? Yep, heís responsible for those too. / 11. this is one of those exotic English mysteries we furreners canít figure out. / 12. there are gay people who support Juventus??? / 13. omg, did he actually say that?!?! / 14. well at least have them teach our boys what it feels like to win things! / 15. as LD said, it would be a huge step backwards, Henry doesn't fit in this squad anymore. / 16. I donít know but it was awfully funny! / 17. thatís what Iíd like to know. He has a regular column at the Independent called ďwhat I learned this weekĒ where he sometimes gets snide about Arsene and Arsenal, and lectures others about facing reality. Well Neil your team was crap, your players were crap, you were crap. Any team that has a cretin like Chris Morgan in it deserves to go down. / 18. excellent question! Iíve never understood this petty totalitarian dictatorship in football where managers and players have no right to criticize the sportís officials / 19. aw címon, you must be reading some archived news site or something / 20. an absolute, emphatic no
jaelle
"Where the hell was Steven Gerrard on Tuesday night?" Well, I seem to remember him setting Torres up with a clear chance in the first half, which he managed to waste, hitting the ball directly at Cech. And I remember a shot late in the second half that Cech just managed to save resulting in a corner., Granted he didn't play all that well, but he certainly played better than Lampard did for Chelsea.
JohnDoe
In all fairness Lampard might of had a few things on his mind. Namely the illness of his now departed mother. RIP
paul_ownz
It would be a massive mistake to get Henry back. The guy is a lgend and I love him dearly, but what's done is done. The past is a foreign country and they do things differently there. We should not regress to the team we were last season; the psychological impact on the youngsters, were Thierry to return, would be too damaging.
Moorish
I'm sorry, but no one could have asked anything more from Lampard given what he has been going through while Gerrard had nothing!
Fan of Blues
Number 17 in particular had me laughing like a drain!!!!
Rocky7
On Q1, what I've learnt from that game is that luck is all relative! lol Liverpool were lucky against us (and e.g. Everton at the start of the season). But they met more than their match - actually Chelsea are absolutely the luckiest team in the whole football universe ever!
Lou the Gunneress
another question......will you be supporting united on saturday? considering if chelsea lose you would be in touching distance of second place meaning no annoyinh champiosn league qulaifiyers?
united4life
U4L, I certainly hope you win, I want that 2nd spot!
jaelle
I hope you draw.
Lou the Gunneress
Sorry ladies, its a matter of the G14 runing out of pull. and it happend at the worst possible moment for you lot.....well, tough *****, guess youīll have to start playing footy like the rest of us now.
Blue is the colour
United4life, ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Blue is the colour
Heads-up for LD: lots and lots of material for next week's 20 questions from the rather entertaining (in many ways) match at SB! lol
Lou the Gunneress
"""8. How the hell did Barca v United conspire to be such a tedious affair whilst Liverpool v Chelsea was actually, whisper it quietly, a decent attacking game?""".......<-----Hahahaha... love that one. Especially the 'whisper it quietly part' :)
