Sagna Won't Be Bac Till Next Season

Arsene Wenger today confirmed that Arsenal's most consistent player this season will not pull on the red and white again this campaign.

However with only three games remaining and Arsenal already qualified for the Champions League, it might not be such a bad thing for Bacary Sagna to put his feet up and take a well deserved break after one of the most impressive first season displays since Ian Wright joined the club in the 91/92 season.

In his usual Friday press conference, Wenger was swift and to the point.

'Diaby`s season is finished, Hleb`s season finished, Rosicky`s season finished, and Eduardo of course, now Sagna`s season is over as well."

He has had a great first season, hopefully this will give some of the other fringe players a chance. If we were still challenging for the title I would be disappointed but I would rather have him fit and raring to go next season than risk him for these last few games.

And fortunately Domenesh is too stupid to see how good Bac really is. He should be nice and refreshed next season.

Those "some other fringe players" = Eboue to remind us he's a good RB.

"fortunately Domenesh is too stupid to see how good Bac really is" -- so very true. I know Sagna's not the first player to do it but how rare is it to have a young, unknown player totally untested in a foreign culture in a foreign football league very different to what he's been used to just slot into his job from day 1 and proceed to be one of his new club's finest players of the season? He's really extraordinary on so many levels.

According to this, Senderos is leaving and Arsene actually has a spending kitty of 64m but is trying to keep quiet about it: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/senderos-set-to-join-arsenal-exodus-815318.html

MrArsenal, the Vital Spurs league table shows the mid-table part, so it's understandable that those who're too lazy or ignorant to scroll up wouldn't get what we're talking about.

Fantastic player, we had Eboue and Hoyte at right back so it was a bit of a surprise that a) Arsene bought a right back and b) he fit in so well so quickly. Let's hope for a bit more of that this off-season. BTW what is Aggressivespuds on about? What is the intertoto? We've qualified for the Champs League for the eleventh year on the trot, spuds have never qualified. I guess like the Carling Cup, the intertoto is a big event for them. A good analogy for a Spuds fan is the Special Olympics- even if you win you're still a retard.

Modric gone to Spurs, thats a joke. If Arsenal had the transfer kitty of 64 million as said in the independent then Wenger would hav splashed out 16 on a player he has been courting for a long time

Sagna has been absolutely outstanding this season, I cannot remember a goal we conceded where I felt he was culpable. I'm sure if we were chasing the title he'd be back in the team, but I think with Sagna going to Euro 2008 he's giving him time off.

Wenger was interested last season and was quoted 7m for him. But since the interest from us, Newcastle and the Chavs, his price became one that Wenger simply wouldn't pay.

He's good. There's no way he's worth the 20m or 15m price tag reported. Eduardo (and many more goals in him) for 8m from the same club was a steal!

A playmaker is also a bit of a luxury for us. While it'd be lucky for a team to have one good one, we've got three in Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky. We can even afford to stick one out wide, one in the medical room lol. So no thanks.

Excellent season for Sagna, and clearly the best RB this season. Good to see him getting some rest. However, is the club resting him or has he still not recovered ? If its the latter, then serious questions need to be asked about the abilities of our medical staff. I cant remember one single accurate prediction for a player comeback this season. Gallas, RVP, Sagna, Rosicky, are all cases where the medics have not either 1. Diagnosed the injury properly 2. Predicted incorrect come back times 3. Rushed RVP back when he was not fit. This is simply unacceptable at a club like Arsenal. I hope I'm not jumping the gun on this one, but this is frustrating.
