Arsenal Four Named In The Team Of The Year

Four Arsenal players have been named in this season's Premier League Team Of The Year.

Cesc Fabregas, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy & Emmanuel Adebayor all feature as the Gunners finish with the most players in the team.

It's always nice to see quality players recognised for their contributions to football.

On a side note it was interesting to see no players from either Chelsea or Spurs chosen ..... so much for the English backbone eh!!!

All four will also fight it out for our player of the season in my opinion.
you really are dim-witted arent you? all our players have been injured for varying periods of time throughout the season and hence couldnt make it. all of your players, except eduardo, RVP and rosicky, are playing every week. very much expected.
i almost feel sorry for CSKA. Oh well, its nothing another £200m wont solve
Awwww, poor Chelsea players on the injury table .... only team ever to have that. Hang on...I'll go get the kleenex!!!
Not over here for an 'discussion' but as much as i think Clichy has improved a hell fo a lot, I would of put Evra in there. Otherwise I think the team is about right. Plus not sure how Fabregas got YP of the year as I think he went off the boil for a while and cant see how Ronaldo didnt win both....just my opinion.
Our injuries meant our players had to play often but Ashley Cole still made 26 appearances, Bellotti 22, Essien 25, Joe Cole 32, Lampard 22 in 36 PL games this season. Plenty of chance to impress there.
I agree that Evra could be in there too. As far as I understand it, the voting gets done in February which would explain some of the voting. That said Cesc has regained form in the last few games and overall has been blinding this season. Ronaldo has been playing in the league for sometime now and perhaps the award should be for the best under-21 year old. I guess matt, you would also have Berbatov instead of Ade & Glen Johnson instead of Sagna. Does Gerrards name get automatically added every year?
No not exactly, i think Adebayor has been good for you lot and sometimes perhaps carried you in games through his goals. However he does need a lot chances often before he scores, however he does score and thats what matters i suppose. Berba has been good this year, but i wouldnt of put him in the team of the season. I do think if Woody and Hutton had been at Spurs all season they may have had a shout, but that doesnt mean they would get in, same if Bale had been fit. But these are ifs and buts
Four players in the team of the year. Isn't that more than the chavs or the mancs managed??? Good to see TRUE quality recognised...

F**king Gerrard.Do the Liverpool fans get a vote?
The thing about Cesc is he usually has a great game and when he only has a good game you think he has gone of the boil. Thats the high standards we have come to expect of Cesc. He still has 6 assists in the last 6 and has shined in most big games this season (Liverpool away & CL , Milan Home & Away, Spurs Away, man U Away).
Fan of Blues
To be fair - Sagna, Fabregas, Glichy and Abebayor I agree with. Drogba hasnt really done the business this season and has been average. Carvalho has been awesome and so has Joe Cole. Essien has a shout as well. How they did not make it in is beyond me, but I dont make the rules, and I'm chelsea so I would say that! My personal team of the season would be - Van der Sar, Sagna, Carvalho, Woodgate, Hutton, Joe Cole, Fabregas, Lampard, Ronaldo, Torres and Abedayor. (James, Elano, Essien, Tevez, Yakubu).
Wingers, it's more than United and Chelsea PUT TOGETHER! It was a pleasant surprise to see Rooney not included and although all of us here recognise Sagna's class, I was dreading seeing someone average liek Wes Brown or Juliano Belletti filling in the RB slot in the team.
I actually think Evra and Clichy are comparable, for me it's a toss up between them. I don't think either choice is a bad one. Too bad you can't have both of them. Great to see us so well recognized by the pros!
Very happy that Sagna and Clichy got voted as the best full-backs. For me Ade was pretty much a sure thing alongside Torres. I'd thought Evra would just nick it at LB, and Joe Cole would be a pretty safe bet for LM. Pleasantly surprised to see young guys like Clichy and Ashley Young (who as an Arsenal fan should be happy for the 4 guys too) get recognised. The only question mark for me is why Gerrard ahead of Mascherano or Flamini. Anyway. Just a bit of consolation, but this will also give them the confidence going into next season.
Lou the Gunneress
th eone thing we'll all agree with is that gerrard has a lifetime membership in all the "best teams" that are made every now and then!
the Gerrard thing just baffles me...the guy could be totally invisible all season long and he'd still wind up on these "best of" lists.
Couple of points for me. Firstly Kirkland should be the keeper. Wigan would have done a Derby on the league if it wasnt for him. Agree with the backline, might have put Evra instead of Gael, though I am a huge fan of Clichy's , Evra is more consistent over 90 minutes. I am amazed how Gerrard gets in the team. As Lou says, it should have been Mascherano , Flamini or Barry.
Well done to the Arsenal quartet, I am surprised at all the noise abt Evra, he only beats Gael in number of goals scored. What do you guys think about having a small European compitition comprising the PFA teams of Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Holland or others.
Agree about Gerrard- shouldn't have got anywhere near this team. Complete blinkers on there. Well done to our 4. Class recognised for once.
gerard out...evra in the noise is somewhat justified i love clichy and its ot a bad substitution but evra is a step ahead.
Gerrard only needs to be alive to get on the list ;)
Gerrard scored more goals than any other midfielder this season bar Ronaldo, he also assisted on more goals than any other player this season bar Fabregas and Young, so much for being invisible this season. He deserves to be on the team of the year.
*to be in
joke at full backs wat about lescott or evra
lol english back bone, yea cos all the arsenal players that were included are english........yet another gooner who knows ***** all about football
