Cesc Confident Of Future Success

Newly-crowned PFA Young Player of the Year, Cesc Fabregas, steadfastly believes that Arsene Wenger's team has it in them to deliver silverware to the throngs of fans in Islington, and beyond.

Speaking after receiving the gong, the stylish midfielder said:

What matters at the end of the day is a trophy.

We didn't win one this season but we will be up for it next season.

I think we will win something, of course.

Cesc, who has also been named in the PFA team of the year, alongside Arsenal teammates Emmanuel Adebayor, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy (Cashley who?), reiterated his desire to bring trophies to our club, and repay Arsene Wenger's faith and confidence in him, at the inception of his career.

I've always said that I'm grateful for what he did for me and what he is still doing for me and this club.

He has great scouts around the world watching and he is intuitive about his players. He has the smell for who will become a very good player and a good person.

And as the furore surrounding the Captain's armband continues to gather pace, amid speculation that William Gallas will be removed from his position, Fabregas took the opportunity to distance himself from assuming the mantle of Club Captain.

I don't know. This is not in my hands, it is the boss that decides that.

You have to respect William for what he has done in football and what he is doing now, for me he is doing a good job.

For me, the most important thing is giving everything on the pitch, that is what really matters to me.

No doubting that Cesc has the mettle of a captain.

What's more a question is would it be overloading him with responsibility at his age, and even if the captaincy is to be removed from Gallas, it must not be allowed to become something that appears to have been carried out at the behest of the media, such has been their scramble to see Gallas made to pay for sitting down in a centre circle after a disappointing late draw away from home (I'm not saying I agree with what Gallas did that day, but it's hardly the worst crime in the world. I'd say that booting a female steward is far worse, but I guess you're allowed such indiscretions if you are English, as it just shows you 'care').

Imo he's too young to be captain, but I think someday he'll be.
Fan of Blues
It would not be overloading him IMO. He alredy has a lot of experience and is a leader at hart and don't forget Tony Adams was only 21 when he became captain and what a leader he was!

only a spuddie idiot with the brains of an amoeba would think that Cesc places a CC trophy above a 3rd place CL spot.
RvP needs to be wrapped in cotton. I hope he doesn't get injured at the Euro. National teams tend to care a lot less than protective Arsene.
Gael-Force, I've given up on RVP. I just really don't care anymore. It may be harsh, but I'm just fed up. We simply can't ever rely on him.
I feel so bad for him... :(
Lou the Gunneress
Jaelle, he's a magnificent player so i am not giving up yet. Clichy used to have injury pbs all the time and now he has played the full last 2 seasons. RvP's problem seems more muscular which is a worry. Another example is Ronaldo, out of the game for 4 years but came back.
Gael, *sigh*, you may be right, I certainly hope you are. I love RVP, no one is a bigger than I of his skills and talent. And I'd love to be proven wrong. But if it's all the same story next season, I just don't see how he can be seen as anything other than a passenger. Lou, I feel sorry for him too, he's got a strong winning mentality and he wants to be out there on the pitch every game.
Good goal from Teo but he missed a much easier one earlier. Next year we need to tuck them all in.
What matters at the end of the day is a trophy. Cesc words not mine you silly little woman!!!!!
Yeah yeah Gael had 3 surgeries with his foot before, it was his metatarsal too. Even Arsene didn't expect him to last an entire season with no rest. His stamind makes me keep forgetting that he's had all those physical setbacks at that young age. And yes RvP is a strong guy, he'll definitely come back. In fact, I know it's too early, but I feel the same for Eduardo too.

and I say again dspurs moron, it's YOUR blinkered, brainless buffoonery that interprets his comment to mean that he prefers a CC trophy to a 3rd place CL spot! YOU'RE THE ONE SAYING HE PREFERS A CC TROPHY TO A CHANCE AT THE CL! Are all spuddie congential idiots like this?
Aboue has become Ade's new dance partner it seems..
Lou the Gunneress
Absolutely crazy game, what a scoreline 5-2! Our defense was woeful of course, and can someone finally put the civilized world out of its misery and destroy Robbie Savage???? But we got some fantastic goals from our forwards.
Lou, I laughed crazy out loud watching Eboue and Ade "taking the *****" (as you guys would say) out of Earnshaw's celebration.
Oh it's not finished yet there..
Lou the Gunneress
Oops -Aboue +Eboue..
Lou the Gunneress
Conclusion: it was a friendly that we're watching.
Lou the Gunneress
our players just bordered on the disrespectful.. we were havin a corner and gallas and adebayor were jokin around.. hahaha.. but extremely pleased to see all our striker on the score sheet
n a shout to denilson who i think played a fantastic game
I don't even mind the sloppy goals conceded to be perfectly honest. The only -ve thing is RvP's (re-)injury. But yes Denilson, also Theo and Ade showed some good signs. In fact Eboue looked better too :P
Lou the Gunneress
How many times has an Arsenal player had a hattrick against the same team in the same season??? I have my criticisms of Ade but he's now on the 30 goal mark! How anyone can doubt his worth to us is beyond me. Sobering thought: 10% of Derby's goals this season were against us. Oy vey.
i think the decision to withdraw rvp was a precautionary thing.. he could obviously move abt until half time.. he'll be back for everton.
jaelle. "Absolutely crazy" "Laughed crazy out loud" "As you guys would say" You really do come across as complete arse hole!!
Notice how RVP, Cesc and a few others came to celebrate with Nicky? Nice to see that.
Oh yeah that one too. Not just Theo. He and Ade kept passing to each other (even when they could have taken a shot too) haha I was chuckling when Bendtner did that in front of goal.
Lou the Gunneress
Check out this site for all the goals:
Hehe there'll be some "30-goal Ade makes Henry proud" stuff in the press tomorrow. What I enjoyed a lot too though was Theo's goal, which reminded me a bit of his first Arsenal goal in the CC final last year.
Lou the Gunneress
Good performance by the lads tonight. Well done Ade! I thought that Eboue's contribution to the game was excellent tonight too, including his delivery. Looking forward to the reserves game against Villa tomorrow and to hopefully catch a few more glimpses of young Wilshere.
Look at Ronaldo's face and body language when Sir Red Nose presents the PFA PotY award to him: and Cesc:

Just a quick messege i thought id post on here, its a good read, was a conversation between Ade and Thierry, Thierry was right in what he said ... Maybe Thierry really did see the team would be ok without him and his exit would bring the best out in his team mates, Take a read .... "Before he left, before leaving Arsenal, I was in Togo on holiday and, I dont’ know where he was, but he called me and told me he was in the dressing room at Barcelona and he was going to sign a contract with them. I thought in my head, “why is he calling me?”. But it was a special feeling. He didn’t have to called, but he thought Adebayor, and wanted to talk. He told me that he was signing for Barcelona, but told me to keep doing what I am doing and you will see at the end of the season, you will score more than 30 goals. I said “Thierry, stop please, leave me to score my 15 / 20, because last season I had scored 12, but this season I will play more because your not here. I will more than happy with that.” He said “No, you don’t believe in yourself. With your quality, what I’ve seen in training with you this year, you can even beat the record.” I was like “Thierry, don’t tell me that.” He gave me his Spain number and he is always sending me texts, when I score, I know when I scored my 7th, he said, you can score more than 30. And when I scored by 22nd, he said “see only 8 more to go.” I feel I can do it now and thank him a lot for that. He is very important to me, sending me messages, before and after. We are like brothers, we are very close.”
Yes Ade will also reciprocate and text Thierry to encourage him at OT tomorrow.
Lou the Gunneress
Looked a bit like a Friendly except Savages trip on Cesc. How the hell did he not get booked. The guy deserves to be playing in the lower leagues. Loved it when Cesc skinned him a couple of minutes later. Thought Denilson was outstanding, will play a lot next year especially with the Flamsters inevitable departure. My jury's still out on Song. I think I prefer him in the midfield. Needs to show more aggro then perhaps he wont look like he dont give a ****. Thought Ade wound the Derby fans up a bit to much. If a player had done that to Gooners, we would have been pis*ed. That aside, he was great. In fact, even Nic and he looked to be on the same page. If Nic wasnt so clumsy at times, I thought he perhaps had one of his best games in an Arsenal shirt. Toure is not a right back. Theo is getting better every game and I cant wait to see him next year. One thing is for sure, we are third, lets hope those in front slip up. If not we still played well at times and can only dream, what if.
Eboue can never seems to score..always fall, fumble, mi***** at the last moment. But he had a good game last night..
i am not so blinded by scoring 6 goals against a team that are already relegated. when it matters we have drawn ALOT of games, don't let this paper up the cracks, wenger will need to strengthen the squad come summer and he WILL buy experience NOT youth.
It was a decent performance but lets be honest, most of the goals were just bad defending.
Also Adebayor & Torres both have 30 goals from 38 starts, although Adebayor has registered 15 goals away from home compared to Torres 7.
Ive got to say who says arsenal are silent fans!!! i was at the game last nite and i had to sit with the sheep shaggers tho because i cuddnt get a arsenal ticket :(. But what i can say is the arsenal fans didnt stop singing all nite one of the best away support ive seen at a footie game in a long time!
they was at home you muppet!!
we played away u batty crease!
lol lol typical
