'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hats Off To Frank Lampard

I make no secret of my dislike of Frank Lampard, indeed we often take the mikey on Vital Arsenal about his pie eating antics, but tonight, I have to salute him.

It's always sad when any member of your family dies, but I can only imagine (though I really wouldn't want to) the pain that the death of your mother brings.

For Frank Lampard, not only take to the pitch, but have the balls to step up and knock home a penalty, is testament to the guy's mental strength.

It must have been in his mind, as he stood infront of a 38,000 strong crowd that he had to score the penalty in memory of his mum, and that will have brought more pressure than any amount of praying football fans.

So tonight I put all rivalries aside and take my hat off to Frank Lampard, and may your mum rest in peace.

I echo the above sentiments. Kudos to you Frank. I doff my cap to you. RIP Pat Lampard.
thanks lads - he's got ball has our frank!
Paul, you can't imagine how much I respect this article. Well said. Frank was brilliant tonight. I cried when he scored the penalty. LOVE HIM!!!
Fan of Blues
Thanks Paul, really appreciate it.
Amen to that sentiment.
You can forgive Frank for thinking that the world is caving in on him right now, so stepping up for that crucial penalty was huge. He has my complete admiration for that. Goes way beyond football rivalries.

Well said Paul!!! Frank is quality!
I feel the same way, something went through me when he scored. I really wanted him to score it...for his mother, what a sign of mental strength...well done Frank! R.I.P Pat Lampard.
well said, i was actually hoping he would score even though i didnt want chelsea to win. i never liked the guy, but that took some balls. RIP Mrs lampard.
Well said Paul. It was a very emotional celebration and brought tears to the eyes of most of the Chelsea supporters. Thanks.
My good wishes go out to Frank and his family as well.
rivalries aside, the man was fantastic, never put a foot wrong and bossed the midfield.. for one night only, respect. RIP Pat Lampard
It was one of those emotional moments that only sport can produce. That took balls of steel.I had a tear in my eye when he whipped that armband out and I'm a United fan.Fair play to him, some courage.I'm sure his Dad's a proud man right now and RIP Frank Lampard.
S**t sorry *Pat.Apoligies...
That was pure class from Frank. I really expected Ballack to take the penalty but to see Frank step up and take it was so courageous. Sent a shiver down my spine. And did anyone else see Avram Kissing the ground at the end? Finally showing some emotion. All round im happy for Chelsea.

lol, against reina somemore... Lampard pwned Gerrard..wonder if Capello would notice this?
Well said. What he did shows so much mental strength. His mum must be so proud.
That for me was the moment of the season. What courage he showed, magnificent.
Well done franky! i hope arsenal players are able to make an example of franky;s mental strength! Bring home to cup to london wil ya mate?
Frank was fantastic last night.
i have to say, wanted to see liverpool win, but then frank got the penalty, the look on his face and the way he celebrated i changed there and then, takes alot to do what he did and I was pleased to see him do it, should be a cracking final in Moscow now !
Good one Frank...bring the cup back to london guys.
Never thot i'd ever say But better Chelski than ManU. and hey i wonder what Morinho is thinking right now.
Did anyone eles see karma at work yesterday? Chelski score a goal instead of being flagged offside...and are denied a clear penalty...KARMA
*oops..Liverpool are denied a clear penalty
Agree totally. Hats off to Frank. Respect.
Condolences to Frank and respect for how he's dealing with it.
Yeh Man, big up to Lampard!!! played well and too a great penalty inspite of. Nuff respect due!!! Now Chelsea please kick the crap out of Man U!!!
Anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one will have an idea just how much courage it took for him to play, let alone take - and score - a penalty, probably the first and last time I'll say it, but massive respect Mr. Lampard...
Cheers fellas, was quite a game last night...
Blue is the colour
Very well said, you could see the emotion as soon as he scored.
