Ladies Do The Double

Arsenal's all conquering Ladies side have secured their third consecutive domestic double by winning the Ladies' F.A. Cup this afternoon, beating Leeds United Ladies 4-1 in front of a 25,000 Bank Holiday crowd. Leeds gritted it out for the best part of an hour, before goals from Jayne Ludlow, Leanne Sanderson and two from Kelly Smith won the cup at Nottingham Forest's City Ground.

Incredibly, Leanne Sanderson bagged her 51st goal of the season as Arsenal wracked up 40 shots on goal. Leeds keeper Carly Telford was awarded player of the match. Just a short note to congratulate the girls on another terrific campaign. Akers' record in the womens' game is unparalelled and the girls continue to set standards and are fantastic custodians for our football club. Very well done girls.LD.

I read somewhere the other day that the WON 51 matches in a row!!! Mightily impressive. And I don't care how minor it is .... at least we finished the season with some silverware .... I'm off to celebrate ... lol

Pity other clubs in England don't care enuf to put in the kind of investment Arsenal does into the women's game. I guess the people who run Chelsea and Man United, the country's two richest clubs, are neanderthals on this issue. Congratulations women of Arsenal! (no way can I call them "ladies.")

About time another Ladies side got to grips with the Arsenal Ladies, before the league is not worth taking part in.
