'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lyon Star: Arsenal Are Arfa-ter Me.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Lyon player Ben Arfa in recent weeks, and the player himself has now revealed there has been talks.

As Arsene Wenger claims that new players are imminent, the 21 year old says we have already been intouch.

'It is true that we have spoken about Arsenal, but we will see how it is going to happen,' he told L'Equipe.

'If I stay at Lyon, it is to play. Wherever I go, it will be to play. The season is not over yet, two games are remaining. Today I am at Lyon. We will see what tomorrow is made of.'

I won't pretend to be a connoisseur of European football and have seen very little of Arfa, but I'm told he is exactly the kind of player we are looking for.

Sorry Rocky 7, it wasn't in a nasty way. lol. Just he is a bit selfish at the moment, he didn't as well in the second half of the season as he started it. (ego + selfish + french squad call + TV = bad habits come back)

FloG - If anyone can sooth the savage beast it's Arsene. Robin van Persie and Adebayor both came to Arsenal with terrible reputations and Wenger sorted them out!!

FloG, yes, he's been selfish (sometimes) but I think his attitude stems very much from how Perrin has treated him, and his personal feud with Benzema. And Benzema has a massive ego, it's not just Ben Arfa who's at fault. I think Perrin has used Ben Arfa's shabbily. I really do think Wenger would have the ability to handle Ben Arfa.

I'd rather have Benzema thanks. When Ben Arfa started, he was hailed as the new Zizou. Like Theo, he went in his shell. A friend of mine, who's a good follower of Ligue 1 thinks that he wastes too many balls and a stint in English football at MU would do him as much good as Ronaldo who was also wasteful initially.

The Gunners will be able to shop at the top shops this year.

What we need to remember is that Wenger sees potential in players and then makes them improve immensely. Just look at Adebayor, Toure, Almunia, Henry.......... He's obviously a big fan of Ben Arfa and personally I think a left winger is much needed. Diaby can then be used in the middle where he is supposed to be!

I thin Ben Arfa is a quality prospect. He is ridiculously selfish though, as has been said already but it's nothing that can't be fixed. Arsene will teach him good team play, there are times when it would be better to pass to someone else and he tries to go all the way. He will learn though, as Theo has.

I'd take him and Mario Gomez.

He is ridiculously selfish because 1) He almost always have less than 45 minutes to "do his thing" in the field. 2) He isn't being played by Perrin where he can utilize his skills better. 3)He's a midfielder, Benzema is a striker, so he really gets *****ed when they're compared and said that one is better than another. Might as well say that Fabregas is better than Clichy right?

entrpoy13. Ben Arfa is a left winger, Benzema can play stricker, second stricker, right winger, and played a lot of game left winger with Fred stricker and Ben Arfa on the bench. Benzema is almost better left winger (not his best position) than Ben Arfa is (the only one he can play), said that, you can see the potentiel of benzema is miles away from Ben Arfa. BUt Ben Arfa is amazing with the ball, he's got a touch unbelievable(exept Giggs i've never seen better, for a left winger), he's got pace and amazing dribbling skills, he is just ridicously selfish. He's been in the Lyon first team before Benzema, and was the "Young star", the only one, but Benzema did improve far more quickly, and did correct almost all is inexperience mistakes , while Ben Arfa came back to them, and so, lost his place in the start 11. I think Ben Arfa is suffering that Benzema (who was in reserve when he played for the firts tean at 17) is now far better than him.......Just to prove, Benzema was vited BEST PLAYER in Ligue 1 this year when Ben Arfa was voted BEST PROSPECT

I havent seen much of him, but I am not unduly worried about his bad / selfish attitude. Wenger has said that Ben Arfa is good enough for Arsenal and thats good enough for me. Past performances rarely matter with an Arsenal signing, so why are we so concerned about that suddenly ?

maybe we need a selfish player who will take chances instead of passing. this season has shown we can pass, often too much. but we need shooters. i say if he is the so called "next zizou", then hell yeah lets get him.
