Gooners Made To Wait For Nasri
Arsene Wenger's promise of quick signings seems to be fading away after Arsenal have been made to wait for French Whizzkid, Samir Nasri.
It seemed as though The Gunners had had the deal sewn up, then Wenger said he wanted to sign the players before Euro 2008, but now Le Boss claims it will be after.
'Nasri interests me,' said Wenger.
'I hope I will do it after the Euros. It is more complicated now because the wage differences (between the Premier League and Ligue 1) are not as big as they used to be.'
'Just look at Karim Benzema. He is 20 and recently signed a new deal with Lyon.
'England is considered one of the two top leagues and the best players want to play against the best players.'
Arsenal have been gazumped (I love that word) in the transfer market many times, does anyone get the feeling it's about to happen again?

There is some doubt as to whether this is a combined quote. That the statements on Nasri and on wages in France weren't part of the one answer to one question but two answers to two separate questions. In any case the pound has dropped 16% against the Euro over the last 12 months so all European wages will automatically be 16% higher relatively than this time last season. That has to be a factor I guess.

Yeah, arseblog had the clarification yesterday, that these were separate answers to separate questions. Apparently, there is some kind of legal hold up to the deal. Of course, its always possible that another club comes in at the last minute to offer more money and muddy the waters, kinda like what Bayern did with Ribery last summer. We'll just have to wait and see.

I think this is dead personally. If Nasri was desperate to sign for Arsenal his advisors would want him to sign before Euro 2008 in case he got injured. AW has been unusually candid about this deal, a mistake he made with Baptista initially and SWP.

Ribery would be a good replacement for Hleb I think. If only we could get Yaya Toure, Ribery AND Nasri, now that would be excellent! And also a centre back.

is this kid REALLY that good? i mean is he worth the waiting? i may speak for the minority but i'm getting fed up of the "will he, won't he" crap. IMO Arsene should start to look elsewhere.

Ribery is Bundesliga player of the season, don't hold your breath, i don't think he'll be here any time soon. And why isn't hleb at barca yet?

Ribery's wages are too high for Arsenal to ever think about signing him. Damn shame too as he was incredible this season and his quality will be underlined this summer. Also, will Mourinho going to Inter scupper Hleb's chances of going there? Maybe Barcelona is the more likely, if he does decide to find a quiet corner of the world to live in.

I think Wenger's gonna flop on the market once again, not buying the guys that we really need now and buying youngsters who could be of use in 5-6 years if he's still around.
