Arsene Wenger Doesn't Want Any Kompany

Arsene Wenger says that he's not in for alleged long term Arsenal target Vincent Kompany, or for any defender for that matter.

Le Boss admitted that he has watched Kompany for a long time, but will not sign him, or any other defender for that matter, this summer. A statement many Arsenal fans may frown upon.

'I have been interested in Vincent Kompany ever since he was 16, but I am not interested in him this year, There is nobody I need for my team's defensive department.' Claim the gaffer

'I still follow Kompany's progress all the time and I know him very, very well. But he will not be an Arsenal player next season - and you can print that.'

'I know all the good Belgian players. Arsenal are following a number of them with great interest, although I won't name names.'

I'm now even more nervous for next season! A centre half was high on my list of priorities. Is the Toure / Gallas partnership good enough? Wenger obviously feels it is. With Senderos, Djourou, Song, Nortdviet, Hoyte and possibly Gilberto as back-up, to me this list is a combination of not good enough and inexperienced. Heres hoping for an injury / suspension free season at the back.

Central defence is the one place we needed to improve, scoring goals and assists are not a problem but our defence is!! Im not sure about senderos, djourou, gilberto, being good cover over the course of a season!

Fans really are getting hysterical over these recent comments from Arsene. It could mean he's already found his CB, which is why he "doesn't need one" anymore. Arsene himself said that our big defense problem last season was direct long balls down the middle. You don't think he's going to solve that?

All happening in this game. I thought it be a good chance to see Nasri, but how unfortunate to be subbed. Although it proves we were right to say Abidal is rubbish. Maybe not rubbish but i always thought he was clumsy.

Just saw Van Persie jump for a long ball. I stopped breathing waiting to see whether he would get back up... and he did. His injury record this year has been nothing short of ridiculous. As for Rosicky, it looks like Edu will be back playing before him
