The Hleb Transfer Saga Set To Kill Us All

Barcelona vice president, blah blah blah, claims that they are in talks with Alex Hleb culminating in the most boring transfer saga in football history

Let's do the short version of this. Hleb went for some rum and rasin in Italy, now he might be moving to Spain.

Barca vice-president Marc Ingla claims 'The negotiation with Hleb is still in progress.'

'But despite him being a player with special qualities, if his club are not ready to sell him, we have other options in mind.'

Somebody wake me when this is over.

I hope not but this could be another final day of the transfer window saga.

Both Hleb and Nasri's transfers have been nightmares. The longest, boring, drawn out episodes since "Lost".

I think there is still a slim chance he could stay! But his heart hasn't been in it for a while, lets just try and get as much as we can for him and let him go! I'd be fairly happy if we just got Ramsey.

I think if Hleb ends up staying, it'd be the funniest u-turn ever! But it looks to me like he's still going to Barca for the quiet, peaceful, press-free environment of a small town with fantastic gelatos (that bit is true). I also don't think we can compare his transfer saga with Nasri's, which has some good news to bring at least in some steps of the way. Hleb's is ugly and getting so extremely boring that I just don't care where he ends up anymore - although I wouldn't mind seeing him in the UEFA Cup competing against the likes of Flamini, Diarra, Bentley, you name it, such like, etc. and so on. (yawns)

This is becoming increasingly tedious. If Hleb stays then fine, move on. If Hleb goes (likely) then fine, move on. We have to put up with this crap every summer and my opinion is that if a player, any player, no longer wants to wear the red and white of Arsenal, then fine, sod off. Dont drag it on, just come out and say it for god sake!!

Lou, I only compared Hlebs transfer to Nasri's insofar as they have both been going on for months now. There the similarity obviously ends.

Hleb has made his position at Arsenal untennable. I won't shed any tears when he goes. Shame because he's a quality player, but quite simply, as far as I'm concerned, he ain't welcome anymore.

Bring on Arshavin. Hleb with the ability to score and not quite so ugly. I just read somewhere Hlebs mother was a brick layer, that explains a lot.

Hey Ozi, brick layers are people too! :-) Not that I want to credit Myles Palmer with anything but I like his take on the whole Hleb saga. He says that the reason the Hleb saga is going on forever is because AW is playing hardball and using him as a test case. Hleb's contract is not easy to get out of, he needs to take certain steps like going to a tribunal and claiming he's been badly treated or something similar, which takes on a whole set of problems. That's one reason Hleb's been hemming and hawing over his future. The other is that his agent hasn't found a buyer willing to pay Arsenal's price and pay him the riches he wants. Hleb asked his agent to shop him around to the highest bidder but there aren't any takers. At first it looked like Inter was going to be his best choice but then Mourinho came in and quickly quashed the negotiations with Hleb's agent, the Special One has no interest in the player. So Hleb is stuck--Arsenal won't smooth his departure and no big club is willing to pay the price Arsenal wants for him. According to Myles, Hleb and his wife had already started to make arrangements to leave London and now find themselves in limbo. Whether true or not, I do like the idea of AW taking a stand. If Hleb stays, I won't be able to support him anymore either.

This will be like Vieira and Henry all over. I'm going.......I'm staying etc etc. One thing is for sure if he doesn't go this summer he will go the next. Same for Ronaldo.........the wheels are in motion.

hope arsene sells him to the highest bidder and use the money to buy players who actually want to be here. i wish these players can be more like clichy, toure, or even gilberto. i really do appreciate their loyalty. and kudos to their agents too.
