Arsenal Set For 2nd Summer Signing

Arsenal look set to sign Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff after the player revealed he couldn't turn down the opportunity to join the Gunners.

After turning his back on a new contract offer, Bischoff said, 'Bremen was superb, but Arsenal is a huge opportunity for me,'

'Wenger has known me since my time at Strasbourg and believes in my quality. He trusts me to be in the first team.'

'Wenger has not put me under any pressure. He said, 'Take all the time you need'.'

I won't pretend to know anything at all about this player, so any posts shedding some light in the comments section would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know anything about this lad? What sort of midfielder is he?
navydave
There isn't a great deal about him except that he was crocked and missed most of last season!
Amos.
Oh great, another sicknote!!!
Rocky7
He came to Werder via the Strasbourg academy so he should have been very well known to Wenger.
Amos.
have a look at the Young Guns page (youngguns.wordpress.com) there is a detailed profile if that's what you're after
Chipo
According to Young Guns, he's like a box-to-box midfielder, hard-working, versatile, can both attack and defend, like a younger Flamster it seems. But the injury thing...
Lou the Gunneress
Oh, it's been confirmed: http://www.werder.de/aktuelles/news/meldung.php?id=13449
Lou the Gunneress
The Werder website hasn't put up the English version of the news yet, so Babelfish again: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-home&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.werder.de%2Faktuelles%2Fnews%2Fmeldung.php%3Fid%3D13449&lp=de_en&btnTrUrl=Translate
Lou the Gunneress
He seems like a Wenger type player (good vision, athletic), but the injury proneness does worry me. We seem to have a few already. He'll get his chance in the Carling Cup!
navydave
I know German, and that article on the werder website only confirms that he will leave Bremen, but that according to "media reports" he's coming to Arsenal. Not really confirmed in my book...
afri-gooner
Yeah noticed that bit too. Maybe Arsenal didn't want them to make it official yet? We wait for news from the notoriously slow arsenal.com anyway.
Lou the Gunneress
But this much is confirmed: (1) Werder say that the player's leaving. (2) The player says that he's joining Arsenal.
Lou the Gunneress
This guy isn't injury prone, he has had one injury and it was quite serious. Does Eduardo's injury make him injury prone or unlucky? Exactly so give the lad a break. The reason he has played so few games is because he has had players like Torsten FDrings, Diego et al in front of him and at 21 he isn't going to displace those 2 specialists being a bit of an alrounder. The lad is a very good talent and the closest thing to Flamini thats out there, but with better technique and passing.
LondonGooner
I agree about the injury LG, but lets not say how good the lad is unless we have seen him play.
Goofle
LG, didn't mean to put a downer on him. I always look forward to new talent coming in. The facts are: Not many people know that much about him, and he's just had a bad injury. I think (like a lot of Arsenal fans) I'm a bit paranoid about having a great talent who spends a bit too long in physio. The fact that Arsene has known him for so long, and (if reports are true) is bringing him in speaks volumes. I trust his judgement!
navydave
What happened to Nasri?
afri-gooner
Just thought i'd get some views from you guys on our new dillema with Robbie Keane.Sorry to post it on this thread but didnt know which one to put it on.WTF is going on in the transfer market? All players seem to have lost there heads.
cockaduddle
We might as well have a draft at the beginning of every season!
navydave
Maybe we will unveil a double signing with that Nasri fella, remember him?????
MrArsenal
I have no doubt Wenger WILL turn him into a class player even if no one knows anything about him. Wenger has a knack for that unfortunately!
ForeverUnited
Most of the signings we make are greeted by........who????? But in Arsene we trust!! I hope ;-)
MrArsenal
I must say that i do trust Wenger. Mabe i'm being impatient but i am dissappointed because i did expect more than the signing of an unknown youngster (i don't know whyi was surprised!). Whilst he sounds good, i too am very concerned about his injuries - he does seem very injury prone.
Cesky
This type of signing just confirms that Wenger believes Denilson or Diaby is ready for a role in central midfield alongside Cesc.
derek27
Be patient, Arsene did say at the end of last season that we would have a team capable of challenging on all fronts. And he also said that the fans would agree when they see the players that we bring in!!!
MrArsenal
how many signings do you huys think you will get in realistcly then
Branston_Imp
I would like to think a couple more at least, not incliding Nasri of course that deal is already done. And only a couple if Ade and Hleb stay otherwise Arsene has some major reshuffling on his hands.
MrArsenal
guys, in all honesty, i dont think the nasri deal is done at all. apparently his personal terms cannot be met by arsenal.
triceratops
I've learnt a lot as an Arsenal fan, and last year's two big summer signings really demonstrate what is one of the most importent. Sagna and Eduardo. Who would of thought that Arsene would spend money on them? Probably nobody... Of course, they've turned out to be class. And now when I hear we've made a signing, I don't even feel the need to question anything. Just sit back, relax, and let Arsene work his magic.
ArsenalRob
Nasri deal will be anounced 2mo.
MrArsenal
triceratops the personal terms have been long agreed with Nasri. the deal was also announced on his personal website only to be taken off until Marsille complete their signing of Ben Arfa. yu need to check your sources..
luckys_10
Signing this bloke makes it seem as though Arsene is going to keep faith with Diaby, Denilson or Gilberto to fill Flamini's role. When is he going to sign some experience?
codchops
When is Nasri gonna be confirmed? It's taking forever!!!
stukazufuss
Amaury Bischoff can play anywhere across the midfield and his abilities could se ehim play full back aslo. As I said earlier he had one serious injury that affected othe rparts of his body, basically he was unlucky. But he has represented porugal at every level up to U19 and U17 for France so he's obviously got a pedigree. When you look at the world class quality infront of him at brehmen and his injuries it's not a slight on him that he hasn't played more, wrong place at the wrong time. The same happened with Edu for us, he turned out to be pretty good after Petite left and he took his spot, didn't he? As for Nasri, anyone else bored stiff with this now?
LondonGooner
In my opinion Bischoff will be another squad player. He'll add to our strength in depth. He'll play a role similar to the one Denilson and Diaby played last season. He won't walk straight into the first team, and has said as much himself. He's cost us nothing, so has to be concidered a good signing.
Bradys Chips
Me i think the Nasri's new are starting to annoy us arsenal fans. I hate it when they say he already sing within no time his agent comes and say he did not. I hate that maaaaan. Big up to Fabregas coz he is probably the best.
Manolo Emmanuel
In Wenger I trust. So im sure that whoever he wants to sign will be gud for our team.
