'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sevilla v Arsenal

Last night Arsenal put themselves in prime position to win the Amsterdam tournament with a dazzling second half comeback against host AFC Ajax. Today a totally new Arsenal starting eleven will take on Sevilla, who tied 0-0 against Inter Milan in the early game yesterday. Arsenal are 4 points clear from the second place team Ajax in the tournament standings, so a win is not a necessity but the young players will be looking to continue building on the success the first team started yesterday.

Vital Quotes:

Arsene still has concerns over Arsenal`s midfield. 'We missed Nasri tonight who has a little knock. We missed Diaby and we missed Song who's at the Olympics. I don't know if our midfield tonight was ideal but it's certainly not far from the midfield we'll play on Wednesday night.

'I'm not concerned about that. But I would have been very concerned tonight if we had one or two injuries in midfield. We can't afford that at the moment with Nasri and Diaby out. It's very positive for us that we have no injuries tonight.'

Still looks like we need to add one more body to our midfield.

Sevilla Team News:

Sevilla played a very entertaining 0-0 draw yesterday with Jose Mourinho`s Inter Milan. They probably should have won the game but Inter can thank Julio Cesar for keeping the score blank. They also played their first choice team, so it will likely be their reserve team on show today too.

Player to watch: Arouna Kone

The Ivory Coast international came on as a sub in the second half of the Inter game and looked very impressive with his touch and speed. He will most likely get a chance to start today, so the Arsenal defense will need to be aware of his speed.

Arsenal Team News:

Arsene will make many changes to the team today. I don`t expect anybody who started yesterday to be kept in the lineup. The defense will most likely be made up of Hoyte- Senderos- Djourou-Gibbs. While the midfield will probably contain Wilshere- Ramsey- Randall- Thomas, with Bendtner and Vela leading the attack

Player to watch: Phil Senderos

The Swiss international will be the most experienced player for Arsenal today, so it will be his job to keep the youngsters focused and calm.

Match Prediction:

I`m not feeling too confident about this game because I`m not sure what kind of team Sevilla will put out. If it contains some of their starters I can see us losing 1-2, but if its reserves v. reserves than our young guns could win 1-0 or 2-1.

Chat away dudes. Love Wilkins' comment on Sky about how our foreign youngsters will need time when a) the side tonight is predominantly British and b) Vela scored. How do you like them apples Wilkins you ****?
Little Dutch
Thanks LD. lol and the foreigners are doing well - Fabianki's looking confident so far. If we look at British and not just English players, the lineup is exactly 6+5 now.
Lou the Gunneress
Well taken goal by Vela to fight off the challenge the whole way. After being on the back foot for most of the game we are starting to get more possession here at the hour mark. And Fabianski has been great.
Fabianski play very well tonight..doing lots of save..wilshire also play guite well againts much more experience player.
Fab is the MotM for me!
Lou the Gunneress
Fabianski did have a very good game. Made some good saves, dealt largely well with crosses. Gibbs at LB has caught my eye in pre-season - his defensive work can improve, but he has slot right in overall. I wonder if its time for him to graduate into the 1st team squad. Ramsey looked average today.
Fabianski looked the real thing. Djourou, Senderos, Vela & Bendtner are all good solid members of the first team squad. The rest look 2 or 3 years away from any meaningful contribution at this level.
There's no question in my mind for man of the match. Fabianski was stellar!
It's amusing to see that the such is VitalSpuds obsession with all things Arsenal these days that they have even opened a thread to discuss our performance in the Amsterdam Tournament!!!! I can't imagine any other site in the VitalNetwork being so interested in a preseason contest they do not have any part in !!!!
Its embarrassing really. Nobody else but Spurs.
Hehe Amos that's flattering. ;) Actually since they thought that pre-season cup they won somewhere else in Holland (what was that, I honestly don't remember - Feyernoord?) was a "significant trophy", they would have thought this Ajax thing was one notch higher and must be a really prestigious cup worth following.
Lou the Gunneress
Is it too much to ask for those c**** on Man Utd TV 2 (Sky Sports) to give us any credit whatsoever for our performance??? I agree with you LD regarding Ray Wilkins. I'll be watching until the end of this programme just to see if the guys in the studio actually vomit as we receive the trophy (should the other result go our way). I'm sure they'll somehow find a way to blank out the whole thing with Man Utd this or Man Utd that. Even Smudger seems to have been affected by ****itis. Anyway, well done today to Djourou and Fabianski. Senderos was a monster today and my personal choice for man of the match. I personally thought that Bendtner was awful today. Okay the service wasn't exactly great, but even so, he couldn't make anything stick today. Now, let the real **** begin! 8-)
only frustrated spuds can embarrass themselves in such a way. But hey, as the late Biggie would say "make my name taste like ass when you speak it".
As for the game, Fabianski was super, and so were Djourou and Sendo, JET had a rough time, while Hoyte was did his (average) bit. JackyW showed some great skills and balance throughout the game, while Gibbs had another positive outing on the left side. Randall seems to be very very aggressive, while Ramsey ran himself to death. Vela and Bendtner did ok considering the service, and all in all, unless there was a major thrashing tonight we're gonna bag this tournament again.
Modest Woo-kash said his performance was "okay", that he "made some mistakes" but he could be "happy", while Senderos said "he did really well". I agree with today's captain.
Lou the Gunneress
Its the 84th minute and Inter is up 1-0 so it surly seems now that we have won the cup!
Hehehe I love how we only got Robin up on the stage and Arsene's polite smlie to show. Hehhehe the travelling Gooners are looking the happiest few at the ground.
Lou the Gunneress
I've just been over to VS for a read, and to be honest it's only really Yido_Lee making a fool of himself with extreme lack of footballing knowledge. A couple of others chime in but he is the main idiot!! Lol!!!
i cant belive ye made an aritcle about a guy called bently it got more hits then any of yer signings.
123 spurs he did used to play for us, which is slightly different to making a thread about a friendly tournament that you have never even been invited to.
theres a minority like thati n every club
123 - The articles were about us making money from the Bentley transfer and Bentley's ego talking about playing us so we were quite justified in putting those articles up .... what reason have you got for a thread about our friendlies? Especially with your rather embarassing member "Yido_Lee" making allsorts of ridiculous predictions .... Seriously, I'd be embarassed to have such a person associated with my club!
Been gone on this site for a while, but some things never change. How predictable are the spuds, coming into this site and making their predictions of us sinking and the spuds going for glory. Every year, it's the same with those delusional spuds...
ye have yer own clown in MrArsenal
