Wenger lauds Nasri (AUDIO)

Arsenal kicked off their Premier League season with a win as Samir Nasri's debut goal just 3 minutes in proved to be the only difference between the two sides.

The early goal was expected to set up an entertaining day for the 60,000+ at the Emirates but instead it proved to be a frustrating rest of the match for them.

Despite the lack of further goals, Arsene Wenger paid tribute to his big money acquisition from Marseille and also Nicklas Bendtner's contribution too.

Other than the Nasri thing, there's two bits that really interest me. (1) Regarding Bendtner, "We have two real target men. One is Adebayor, and the other one is Bendtner. That's not too many so he'll get the number of games he deserves." And he agrees it's an important season for the boy. I like this positive reply cos Bendtner has impressed me since pre-season. (2) When asked why he put Kolo in RM, the boss said: "Well when a player comes back, I just put him where he can help out the team. I wanted to put him in central midfield, but the two CM's (Denilson and Eboue) worked quite well. Then he finished on the right, and the most important for him was to come back to competition." That's interesting - so it did cross Arsene's mind that Kolo could back up as a DM. It provides a little hint to Itsup4grabsnow's thread in the forum. But then Denilson's already playing there in CM, Djourou's at the back, Nasri's in LM, other CM contenders like Cesc, Song, Diaby and Rosicky were all out; and of course the first-choice DM still hasn't been brought in. So we still can't figure out how high the boss rates Kolo against these guys - I'm guessing he saw Kolo as a backup to the backups...

In the rare event of Rosicky not being injured Nasri would play on the right, right?

Yeah Rob I'd assume so. Also in the rare event of Cesc being injured/suspended, Nasri can also play in the middle.
