Injuries forced Arsene Wenger to field Emmanuel Eboue in midfield alongside Denilson in an inexperienced midfield for Arsenal, which saw them go down 1-0 in a surprise result at Craven Cottage.

Tall Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland's 21st minute effort was enough to separate the sides as late pressure proved fruitless for the Gunners.

After the match, the Arsenal boss admitted his side started slugishly, but whilst not giving away many chances, believed his side paid for their only mistake of the match.
