'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's Time For Arsenal Supporters To Do Their Job

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that the boo boys at The Grove are starting to have an effect on their intended target.

Wenger made comments claiming that benching Adebayor for the game against FC Twente was more than just a bit of tinkering.

"I`m not sure yet," Wenger said in The Sun. "He could possibly come in.

"I give my reasons to the players (for dropping them). It was a massive game but I cannot come out publicly with why (Adebayor was dropped).

"He needs the fans to be behind him. He is under pressure to score goals and we want him to feel relaxed.

"He made financial sacrifices to stay. Why should that go against him?'

I think it's time for the guys doing the booing to give it a rest. Their point has been made but it has come to a point where the boo's are become detrimental to the club.

If we want to challenge for honours this season then we need to be united on all fronts. Adebayor is an Arsenal player, like it or not, and even if you don't feel like cheering him, then at least get off his back.

Isn't it strange that fans can complain about the lack of atmosphere and at the same time spoil what there is by booing a player. A persistent campaign to undermine any player is only going to do the whole team far more harm than good. You won't find a 12th man amongst those supporters.
Amos.
I was thinking a similar thing myself Amos. The same supporters doing the booing are those unwilling to show any sort of vocal support of a positive nature. It makes me sick to the stomach that we can produce more negative noise than positive. Complete disgrace.

We shouldn't boo Adebayor or any of our players when they pull on the jerseys and step into the pitch as a ARSENAL player, that's the only reason - but for he should not expect fans to love him like we did prior to the saga, he has to recognise that everything will start from zero. And I don't agree "he made financial sacrifices" to stay - the only reason he stayed was becos AW had placed a price tag on him that no clubs were willing to match
Temasek
Temasek, if Ade was really determined to leave Arsene would have been forced to sell him as he will not keep disaffected players at the club for fear of how much they can disrupt the team spirit. Arsene is right that Ade made a PR mistake. I believe he wanted to stay, but he wanted a pay rise as well and used the interest of other clubs to get that. I'm sure compromises were made on both sides, but it's time to let it go. I loved PV4 when he was here but we had some transfer saga every summer with him and the fans let it go. The season before last Cesc actually spoke to RM and considered leaving, but we've managed to let that go too. You do not have to sing his name, but we need him and his goals if we are to do anything this season, so anyone who claims to be a supporter of this club needs to get off their high horse and get behind the team.

Im 100% in agreement with this article. Ade is staying, end of story and while I dont agree with how things worked out regarding Ade over the summer I feel its time to get behind the WHOLE team. I dont like a player or two that are currently in the team but I still trust in Wengers judgement and I dont think we are going to see the confidence this team can play with until they see us behind them. I felt the Fulham game was a disgrace but there is nothing that can be done about that now. I hope for our own sake these so called "fans" that have been booing will give it a rest for the Newcastle game today.

Point's been made, Ican't argue with the people who felt like making it initially. But it's been done now, time to drop it. Incidentally, every time he has been booed there has been a protest chant of Ade-bay-ooor.

I have noticed that LD - What area of the ground is that coming from?

I have said all along that booing Arsenal players is totally out of order! I agree that it just as a bad effect on the player, and we as Arsenal fans should be chanting for the team we love! I'll be there later, and will be listening out.

I'm very sure Ade got it already. While I can understand why some of us wanted to boo him, like you guys said, they got the message across already. Especially after our mixed results, we should get behind the team more now. Remember how Cesc said he felt more relaxed going away from home last season? Sad to hear that, and I defo want the players to feel at home at home and the TEAM deserves better support. I'm also glad to hear the guys singing "We love you Arsenal" and other songs. Why don't we do that, instead of singling out a player that some might not like?

I don't understand the so-called fans who turn out at games to boo players. It is not going to make them play better, especially the young ones. Completely off-topic: just saw Scholesy amazing volleyball smash in the game against Zenith. O'shea celebratory embrace was hilarious. Scholes should consider a top spot in the beach volleyball team in London 2012. that was absolutely world class.
Gael-Force
Really pleased with the fans reaction to Wenger's words today. Even before we took the lead everyone seemed to be behind the team and you could visibly see the positive effect on his game!!
Rocky7
... bonus: they also booed Joey Barton, well done! :D
Lou the Gunneress
Yeah, the Fans sang Adebayor quite alot whilst he was on the pitch and clapped him off. We also Booed, and sang that Barton should be in jail, and called him Scrum. Hope King Kev realises that he shouldn't have kept Barton, as he shouldn't be on a football pitch!

Ade'a work rate and commitment were very good today. IMO It was important for the fans to express their displeasure at Ade's summer antics coz he should know that he cannot take us for granted, but now that they have, we should let it go. I know that I dont feel as anti-Ade as I did a month back. I hope the fans at the Grove feel the same way, quick.
prits
I must say as Spurs get $hitter and can't actually be considered rivals of Arsenal I'm starting to hate your team less and less ... the last two goals against Newcastle were amazing ... despite not scoring Adebayor looked a class act, I'd swap him for Berbatov any day of the week.
