'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wenger Hits Back At Prattini

Arsene Wenger has admitted he was shocked at the rather harsh, nay vile comments made by UEFA president Michelle Platini.

As reported this morning on Vital Arsenal, Platini slammed Wenger for being more interested in business than football and also for Le boss's opinions on goal line technology.

Wenger hit back, 'I am stunned by the aggressive content of Platini's words, I am effectively a supporter of video assistance for referees, like all coaches, and I believe Uefa have an important role to play in this.'

'I am for sporting justice and Uefa must be the guarantor of this. I am a supporter of good management of clubs, for financial equilibrium.

'And Uefa must equally support this idea. I am fighting for the future of the game and of football. I don't see why Uefa should take umbrage at ideas that are different from their own.'

Too right. However I reckon he should have denounced Platinis ability to do his job on the grounds of his quite blatant mental health issues.

You've got to believe me when I say I'm not saying this bcos I'm an Arsenal fan, but just as a logical, sane football fan: well said Wenger.

Very quick response from Arsene as the outburst from that Prat at Uefa was totally uncalled for. Also someone (possibly Wenger) has edited Platini's Wikipedia page. the words BIG FAT C*** appear ALOT and someone under 'date of death' has put 'soon hopefully' LMFAO!

I cant believe people such as Blatter and Platini dont have advisors that tell when they are makign them sleves look stupid. Wenger was always goign to come out of this lookign better as he has a real srguemnt, Platini is just using personal insults. It does make you laugh, but then again it is worrying that two of the most important peopel in football (Platini and Blatter) can be such idiotic morons.

Platini has some kind of personal angst against Wenger. This isn't the first time he's attacked him. I don't understand why he can't see that Wenger can actually be an ally in his aim to cut out the financial excesses in football, Platini should praise AW's desire to stop the insanity of football finances in the modern game. As to video technology, every damned manager and football fan the world over has the same position as Wenger. This past weekend we saw Watford lose two points in their league campaign because of a moronic linesman's decision -- and the authorities REFUSE to do anything about it because they put so much value on the absolute inviolability of the referee's final decision, however ridiculous it is. Contrary to their aims, it's decisions like that that generate MORE disrespect toward officials from players and fans, not less.
