Pretty awesome performance but in a relatively meaningless game as far as I remember.
FAB 4
I miss Bobby...
GoonerLou
i miss bobby too!
Lloydytron
Why did Edu take that penalty?
MeetTheGunners
Or possibly at Highbury ... lol
Rocky7
I believe it was his last game at Highburt MTG!!
Rocky7
best player in arsenal history...............robert pires. bergs was great but bobby won us trophies.
KingGunner
I love the fact that if you scroll down a but, there is a "classic match: Everton 2, Arsenal 1"
pompeycarpet
KingGunner, sorry, what...? I'll have whatever you're having.
shewore
shewore, it's all about perspectives mate, Henry contributed more to Arsenal but is often regarded as 2nd to Bergkamp on the all time greatest player list, you can add or remove statistics but they can also be read in whatever way suits the reader. It is definatly about opinions......imho!
LondonGooner
And the opinion that Bob won us trophies and Dennis didn't? Do me a favour!!
shewore
Those were the days!
hackneyval
Were they the days Hackney? I'd say they were the beginning of the end... bit miserable i know.
shewore
Shewore, you can never pin it one player (the winning of trophies that is) I believe Dennis did contribute to us winning trophies (I also remember he handed Man Utd the trbele). It is always about perspectives and maybe because people don;t see it that same doesn't mean it is right or wrong. Anyway, i get the feeling you are a glass half empty man?! It hasn't all been downhill, although by that logic, Ajax, Liverhoof and Milan have been on the way down since the 80's?
LondonGooner
Completely agree that Ajax/Scousers/Milan have been on the decline since then, hard not to really... He didn't hand em the treble ffs, was a p1ss poor penalty though, was more annoyed with the lack of tackling on Giggs' run, or paddy giving him the ball!
shewore
I would say the lack of tackle would of been irrelevent if that penalty had gone in, thats my view! And as mentioned by everyone involved with that team at the time, that win gave Utd the confidence to go on and claim an unprecedented treble (Still hurts saying that) What say you?
LondonGooner
That game still ranks as one of the most painful I have ever had to watch, right up there with the leeds game shortly after that!
LondonGooner
Yeah definitely, the pendulum was about to swing, Keane just being sent off etc etc... alas. That was a different era unfortunately.
shewore
Still gets my hackles up, am gonna have to get myself down the pub now! Shame!
LondonGooner
Bobby Pires, we miss his urgency
TR7
how i'd love us to win our next 7 games with the scoreline 1-0 to the Arsenal..
luckys_10
Bobs set the game. he created the tempo, he linked the game together and he never lost possesion. He didn't just do one miracle in a game as henry and dennis did.
KingGunner
Pires is one of the few players who can maintain their peak performance till thier late 30s. I wish wenger had kept him and not buy sick note rosick sick
49ers
KingGunner ur talking crap. Bobby was superb in the game, but it was Dennis who scripted this master piece. go and watch the game again pal..
luckys_10
Without either of them they would both be missing biug parts of the game and the team would suffer, Dennis turned into more of a play maker towards the end of his career, Bobby still contributed 15 goals and 15 assists per season, can't argue with either of their records!
LondonGooner
still think bergs was too injured when arsenal were at their peak of dominence.
KingGunner
