'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wenger Hails Nasri Transition

Arsene Wenger says he is surprised at how well Arsenal new boy Samir Nasri has seamlessly slipped into life in North London and that he believes his transition into English football is ahead of schedule.

Nasri has made instant impressions at Arsenal and has become a firm favorite amongst the fans at Ashburton Grove.

Wenger told the club's official website: 'I didn't count Nasri in here for the first six months of the season, like I do for everybody we buy at such a young age.

'When you look at the impact he had already here you can say he's ahead of what I planned for him.

'He's 21, goes from France to England, and I must say I'm quite pleased with his attitude and his performances.

'He's doing extremely well and he is already becoming an important player for us and that is why you do not want him to get injured.'

His stylish play and eye for goal (he's already equalled Hleb's total for last season) leaves him looking like the closest thing to Robert Pires we've had on the wing since, well, Robert Pires.

Yes we had missed Bobby since he left and since, well, Rosicky got injured. I have to say I like Samir very much already, ever since he started playing for us in pre-season really! :)

The team just look so much better with him on the pitch. It is amazing to me that last year Sagna was able to slot immediately in and this year Nasri has been able to do so. I do hope that this has only been a rare and unfortunate series of knocks he's taken. I also have to admit his stock went up, in my eyes, when he let Joey Barton know he was there.

@Lou, totally. I still miss bobby :( but Sami has so far proved to be an inspired purchase and looks totally awesome. :) @Smith - Yup, that was feckin awesome, made me grin! I hope he can stay fit, I'm sure we have yet to see his full potential.

Speak of the devil! Bobby himself hails Samir as his successor: http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/10/20/Prem-Pires-exclusive-on-Nasri-Clichy-and-fans/ And the legend himself has a very good point to add: "His partnership with Gael Clichy on the left side reminds me of mine with Ashley Cole when we started to play together." Also have a look at how Bobby refers to the Arsenal with so much affection: "This coach is always looking for perfection and Nasri is a massive signing for “my” Gunners... I do not think he is going to leave because Arsenal are a special club. This club makes you want to wake up and go to training every day... Arsenal and myself was a love story and to be honest I am so proud to have been part of such a different club, they are a class apart." How can you not love him! (kneel down and worship)

Samir has been fantastic so far. I never expected him to settle so quickly, but given the ongoing absence of Rosicky, I'm really glad that he has.

Exceptional player, good understand of the game, good goal ratio for a midfield player too. He is plays with the squad as if he has been here his entire career.
ArabianKnight
yea he is awesome, few more goals and few more assists would be perfect. btw, does anyone see us raiding a player or two from spurs in january, given that their form does not improve, say like gareth bale? or corluka? or maybe huddlestone?

Like GoonerLou, i have enjoyed watching Nasri since pre-season, he's a very good addition to our team, and He seems to be enjoying playing for The Arsenal, long may that continue.

@gooner_till_i_die - Bale, yup, Corluka, maybe, Huddle20stone - no thanks. No thanks.
Gunnerman
Not one player in the spurs side which i would want as a first teamer. Possibly as back ups, Woodgate, Bale, Modric
