'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Fear For 'The King Of The Cage'

Robin van Persie, the player once dubbed 'The King Of The Cage' due to his inner city footballing exploits, says he has no fear ahead of the trip to the cauldron of noise that is Fenerbahce's home, Sukru Saracoglu stadium.

Turkish football stadiums are notoriously hostile, with Fenerbahce, along with Galatasaray, being one of the most tasty.

RvP however isn't too fussed over the prospect, indeed, he seems to be looking forward to it.

'It will be really tough. I experienced it a few years ago and the fans there are amazing,' said Van Persie.

'It was really aggressive, but that is their style.

'You have to deal with the atmosphere. It is not nice but I think if you play for Arsenal you have to adapt and just play your game.

'It will be a good test for us and I will enjoy the game.'

We here at Vital Arsenal would like to wish all the travelling Gooners a safe (not to mention enjoyable) trip.

I have to say...if I could ever watch my team in Europe....Turkey would be that last place I would choose to go.......best of luck there for you......and the team.... :o)

I've been to two games at the Saracoglu. I was with Turkish friends at the time. I love Turkey and have been on long visits there twice. I've been in many football stadiums in different parts of the world but nothing had prepared me for Saracoglu. With the possible exception of La Bombonera in Buenos Aires when Boca and River Plate meet, I haven't had a more intense stadium experience anywhere else. It really is everything they say it is and makes the famed Anfield and the "best fans in the world" look like pathetic clowns. I'm sure Arsene has prepared the team for what they'll be up against. I just hope they don't let it overwhelm them and that an experienced player like Silvestre can help calm them. I expect us to win this game even tho it'll be a tough job. Had this been last season, I would've hoped for a draw and expected to lose. But Fener are struggling now that Zico's gone. That back four isn't too bad for us, just hope no one gets injured. I love Fener and Turkish football in general. They have great Brazilian and Turkish players and their football philosophy is very positive. I guess it's futile to hope that Ade will be benched. I just don't think he's mentally with Arsenal anymore.

This is just the kind of game that RvP should flourish in if you ask me.

No wonder he had no fear .... he must have known he wasn't playing! LOL

was he in the starting 11? lol jk

Jaelle, shame they end up stabbing each other afterwards mate!!! Give me the Anfield roar over some of the scummiest fans in the world any day mate! English fans who are total scum aren't even very good at being just that, the Turks take fanaticism to a whole ne wlevel and there is no place for a lot of the behaviour of their "fans" in European football.
