'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Now If You Can Do That vs Wigan, I'll Be Impressed

How many teams can go a goal down at Stamford Bridge in an important league match a come back to win?

Well put it this way, in the last five years only two teams have managed it, Arsenal, and well, Arsenal. It takes tremendous character to accomplish it, especially when you have lost your last two games and are in danger of losing touch with the league's top sides completely.

However our boys did just that yesterday, and pulled off an unlikely win for a very important three points. But that is now over, we have to look to our next league game against Wigan, and we have to approach it with the same mindset as we did against Chelsea.

The impressive victory (and incredible performance) against Manchester United should serve as a timely reminder that a single win against one of the the league's top teams doesn't mean jack shit if you play like rank amateurs in your following two games.

After the win yesterday Arsene Wenger said 'I have an intelligent team, a talented one, but we want to come back with humility and work hard. We have learned that we need that kind of focus in every game no matter who you play.' and he's bang right, but it's not the manager who needs to know that, it's every last one of our players.

I had such fun yesterday seeing the Gunners pull that performance from the hat, but I will be far more impressed if we can follow it up with similar performances against Wigan and Boro.

if you play like that against Wigan you will murder them.......

And if we always played like we did against Man Utd we'd win the league with a month to spare, it's just that we can't seem to find the conisitency at the moment. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we do at the weekend. BTW - I'd like to know the 7% that voted for Almunia as MOTM yesterday .... lol

Arsenal can raise its game to the extra gear when they want to. And only Big teams is capable of making Arsenal do that. But its just not possible to do it for the whole season, against all opponents. Not that its being arrogant, it just not possible. For us to put a great performance throughout the season we need a strong squad and a physical squad to force our play on any team. Right now we are neither strong nor physical. Wenger needs to buy replacement players that will allow us to do that. And I believe a DM, CB and a Creative Winger is a must to enable us to do that consistantly.

We will beat Wigan, of that I am sure. Wenger won't let them go out an dperform ala Villa or Citeh. He has received loads of stick this season and rightly so for the many errors he has made. I can see him getting them fired up for this as this is last chance saloon for our chances of craking the top 2 league positions against our wealthier rivals.

Thank you Arsenal for doing Liverpool a favour and pegging back Chelski

I had a few messages like that yesterday from some scouse mates. At the end of the day we were helping ourselves first and foremost. Any benefit to others is purely circumstantial but we do accept gifts in the form of cash, cheque or alcoholic beverages if you wish to show your gratitude I Bling Red.....

Disgrace! I knew a lot of us would vote for RvP. But Clichy with 3%?!?!?! I've only added my vote for him and made it 4%. Yes Rocky I fully expect us to lose to Wigan next week..! (jinx jinx)
GoonerLou
RVP scored both goals and is clearly man of the match. Don't take it personally Lou, it was clearly him and that is probably why Clichy only got 4%, it was so cut and dried!!
LondonGooner
I voted for van Persie out of spite!
Tom14
Did someone vote for Almunia out of spite too?! Ah, his mistake and the OG did give us a big sting and spurred us on to be more positive in the 2nd half. lol I know RvP's brilliant, but I wanted Clichy to get more credit than 4% (it's 5% now)! And Sagna came back from injury and was his excellent self in no time! Gallas put in a, well, captain's performance at the back, resilient, professional, quietly dealing with the stick. If I were given a choice of 'the entire defence', I would vote for that one instead of RvP.
GoonerLou
I voted Gallas. An astonishing performance when you look at his situation. Unshakable!!
Rocky7
Lou, Clichy does not deserve a vote. You vote for your personal MOTM and Clichy was not one of the top players. Thats the way it is. I voted Gallas and van Persie
Tom14
That's the way it is in your eyes Tom. Everyone sees things differently. THAT'S the way it is.
Rocky7
Exactly. that is why Clichy has only got 6%, because that is the way it is. And of course you will get silly ones like Denilson and Almunia (7%!!!??) and then the likes of Gallas get less even if he was possibly man of the match.
Tom14
Clichy did a great job considering how little help he got from Nasri. My MOTM was Sagna, but the whole defence did really well to limit Chelsea to such few shots on target.
jubair
Barcelona came back for 1-0 down to win 2-1 at stamford bridge in feb 2006...
49ers
Tom14 - According to you. The way people see the match is "their way" and that's the way it is. So why does someone voting for Almunia or Denilson get called silly, when that is what someone has seen. The only silly thing there is the lack of recognition and respect towards someone else opinion, to which a few posts ago you were endorsing to Lou! Go figure. And that IS the way it is!
