Seriously, Please Stop Talking

Seriously, Please Stop Talking

Just like Tottenham fans, it seems some Arsenal players don't know when to stop talking and let their actions speak for themselves.

In discussions over at Vital Chelsea before the game this weekend, talk turned to players making ill-advised comments in the press prior to football matches. It was then I predicted that should we emerge victorious from Stamford Bridge that one of three Arsenal players (van Persie, Fabregas or Adebayor) would issues comments talking about the re-ignition of our title charge.

Of course, it was Adeabyor who proved me correct.

The lanky Togan said, 'Winning means everybody can say we are keeping our title dreams alive but the main thing is to keep going. Maybe we have a little bit more concentration for the big teams and that is something we are going to work on very hard. We all believe in the boss. He is here to help us and we are here to help the fans.'

Whilst Ade's comments also looked at the need for focus and concentration against the 'lesser' teams (and I guess his spirit and belief should be admired) it just irks me somewhat to hear players talking about our title chances whilst we are still in the midst of such inconsistency.

Had these comments come on the back of a 5 match winning streak then I could understand it, but I would have thought that making similar statements after beating Man Utd earlier this month and then slumping to 2 consecutive defeats, conceding 5 goals and scoring precisely none, would have taught us a thing or two about humility.

Please, let's just forget about the league title for now, and concentrate on beating Wigan and we'll see where it goes from there.

Ok?

Ok.

To be fair he does only talk about title 'dreams'.

I mentioned this in a thread the other day (decorated with tons of swearing and annoyance) as I had the right hump with our big mouthed players who can never seem to keep their traps shut. Gallas, Adepaymemore, RVP and Cesc love the sound of their own voices and everytime they open them they end up looking like boring prats. They get paid for football not public speaking and it should stay that way!

I have no problems with them speaking in public .... but they need to focus. I see little point in talking about focusing on playing well against smaller team and then immediately talking up our title chances. Let's just beat Wigan first, because if we fail to do that then this brilliant win over Chelsea will have been for naught.

Mate, I think they all need to be gagged. They have usually nothing of interest to say, it is always cliche's and platitudes. They are frankly boring people with little in the way of personality and the only reason I even know their names is because they are footballers. LOL It is just so predictable and dull when they talk, can't help not liking all that malarky Rock!

I would have put the headline as 'shut the ***** up' ! Of course, thats why Rocky is the editor ;). I'm tired of all the talk, just pls focus on the football and try to win against Wigan which will be a start. Dont these fellas learn? After the ManU game, we heard more of the same, which was promptly followed by 2 defeats.

Whilst I agree with your general point, maybe you should read the whole of his comment in context before you jump on the player. The media has a habit of writing provocative headlines supported by selective quotes to give a certain 'spin' on what players say.

Context please Rocky- was the question posed to him, "Do you think you still have a shot at the league title?" If so, his comments seem pretty innocuous to me.
