Wenger Plans New Year Transfers

Wenger Plans New Year Transfers

Those Arsenal fans concerned that Arsene Wenger might not look to fix our obvious problems this transfer window will be pleased to know that Wenger is already on the prowl.

Arsene Wenger has identified the midfield area as the area most in need of repair.

Speaking in his programme notes ahead of the victory over Portsmouth yesterday and also on French channel 'Canal Plus' Wenger spoke of his plans.

'The transfer window opens (on Thursday) and, although we are not close to signing anyone at the moment, if we do buy I think what we need is maybe someone with a bit of experience,'

'We already have many young players so, if we buy, it will be somebody who is ready to play straight away. A loan deal could also be a possibility.'

'Cesc is a long way from playing again, so are Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott, and these are three creative players that we count on at the start of the season. So what we might need is someone who can create a little spark.'

'I don't need to announce a name, because when you do that there is 50 per cent less chance of making the signing. But I need a creative midfielder and eventually another midfielder, because we are short.'

So rest assured, Wenger DOES see what we see, and we've now got a nice Premier League break for him to fix it.

Those Wenger comments stink of an imminent signing. I think (probably more of a hope) that Wenger is trying to throw others off the scent a little bit. If he's so close to a signing he wants others to think he still browsing rather than waiting at the checkout so we don't get any queue jumpers. I firmly believe we'll have at least a couple of players in place for our next league match.

I think it will be a bit short for our next match. But hopefully the new guy(s) can contribute directly to our CL match VS Roma.

I'm guessing (and only guessing) that maybe the player(s) he brings in might not be able to play in the CL!!

Perhaps it can also be a statement of intent from our new incoming Chief Executive who begins his post on 1 Jan.

So we could end up with Arshavin and a top class defensive midfielder. My worries would be almost over!

Yeah almost Tom. I reckon those two would see us through to the CL again next season. A defender and keeper woud be nice too, but I reckon a winger and denfensive midfielder are paramount.

Probably Arshavin and Alonso to come in. Nobody should be sold until the summer, I have a feeling Senderos will come back from Milan aswell.

Iceman - I reckon I'd spurt if that happened. A central midfield (eventually) of Arshavin - Alonso - Cesc - Nasri would have many people drooling.
