'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arshavin's Prayers To Be Answered?

Andrei Arshavin yesterday revealed that his move to his 'club of the future' is in the hands of the gods, and that he spends all his spare time kneeling at the foot of his bed, hands clasped deep in prayer that Zenit and Arsenal can come to some agreement.

Well it's looking possible that his prayers might be answered.

'My hopes now rest with God. Apart from him, nobody can help me,' Arshavin is quoted as saying in The Times.

'I see Arsenal as my team of the future. Everything now depends on Zenit. If they want to sell me, they can do it very quickly.'

This morning quotes coming out of the Zenit camp suggest talks are moving along and that the Russians are looking for a compromise.

'We are certainly conducting negotiations directly with the Arsenal chief executive,' Mitrofanov told Sport Express.

'The footballer's agent is not taking part in them. Because of this he simply does not know all the details of the process of negotiation, and in this sense his comments should not always be trusted.'

'As regards the process itself, as I have already said, it is not simple, but it is moving and we hope that it will lead to its logical conclusion.'

Hopefully the most Tedious Arsenal transfer ever will be wrapped up today. This one is worst for me than both Nasri & Baptista. The Nasri one didnt have 4 new stories on the transfer everyday and i was on holiday for a chunk of the Baptista one. We have had 10 stories from Zenit, 15 from his agent, 8 from him, 3 from other players and about 120 from other sources. I suppose we will always have that problem in the age of the internet where news articles get re-re-re-recycled endless amounts of times and everyone has an exclusive.
paul_ownz
I think the Baptista one was much worse, that went on for about two years!!! lol. That said it would be good to put this one to bed.
Rocky7
Nasri was the worst, followed by Baptista. This is exactly why Wenger does not make transfers public, because it causes so many complications. Let's hope it gets done even though I am still unsure why we are after him. I want Ireland. That is a player that we REALLY need.
Trennon
I think Arshavin, from a playing point of view is exactly what we need right now. A player who is creative, can play midfield or out wide, has an eye for a pass and for goal! What more could we ask for?
Rocky7
We could ask for the transfer to be concluded so our rage levels lower.
paul_ownz
That's true. Imagine the boost the players and fans would get to see Arshavin and Eduardo take the ptich on the same day?
Rocky7
I think what we really need is a DM to bring some balance to the team that we have lost Since Flamini left. We can get by with Denilson and Fabregas but I wouldn't like to see Denilson and Arsharvin in the centre unless it was a 5 man midfiled.
PENZ
maybe wenger is going for the best defense is offense ?
gooner_till_i_die
I know i dont take notice of nearly any transfer, but the reported 28 million pound bid for Kuyt by Juventus must be the most ridiculous ive heard
paul_ownz
Infact i would get more pleasure out of building a palace using the 28million pounds worth of 5 pound notes and then setting them on fire.
paul_ownz
Arshavin will not play in central midfield once in his Arsenal career if he signs.
Tom14
Ye Tom14, you're right there. Although in Europe he could play behind the striker like Hleb did.
ArsenalRob
arshavin, rvp, nasri, cesc & eddy all on at the same time. add to that vela and possibly rosicky. ok somebody wake me up cos im in dreamland.....
supersof
He said: "We are not close to signing anybody else, but what I see in training is a very determined team of top quality. "Also the players coming back, like Fabregas and Walcott, there is a little chance that Rosicky will play again before the end of the season, so we have plenty of players coming back who are like new signings."
paul_ownz
Hes a cracking player i hope you sign him. However i hope you eat your own words some of you, when he was heavily linked with us last summer many of you were saying hes too weak for the prem and deemed not good enough for Arsenal and also that hes a bad egg in the dressing room.
HuddersfieldYiddo
I still think he is a bit of a bad egg. He said it was always his dream to play for Spurs then Barcelona then Milan. Threatening to buy out your own contract and not turn up for training and demanding a high salary is not great either. I dont know the full circumstances but hopefully if he comes he wont bring along those unwanted traits
paul_ownz
Id rather a "bad egg" who performs miles above what we have already than have a player who is pants but a nice guy. Anyone seen Clichy's pictures? The guy looks e'd up.
Tom14
Zenit radio apparantly has said the final bid has been rebuffed. If that is the case then let this be the end of the Arshavin Circus
paul_ownz
But SSN have just said they have given us a 15+3 million offer back. We should accept that if it is true, which is always in doubt with Sky Sports. Paul, never believe anything you hear on a radio station that belongs to a particular club. That's like believing Marca.
Tom14
I now officially HATE Zenit St. Peterburg. Bad enuf in the summer we had to endure the media saturation of the endless Arshavin saga to Spurs and other clubs. Now these jerk-offs are doing it to us. I really really HATE these guys!
jaelle
tom are you serious? this is really getting to me now, i so want him at our club now. it will be so demoralizing now if he doesent come. cant believe they knocked back a 15 +3 million offer. i thot those *****ors wanted a logical conclusion to this transfer, ***** what more do they want now. i cant even breathe now, im so *****ed. those powerful mother*****ors only want us to take the *****, dun really think they have any intent of selling him to us. oh arsene, please save me from this..
luckys_10
No, they have told us 15+3 million is his price. I didn't explain it well enough. Sorry. They have not rejected a 15+3 million bid.
Tom14
Meh, it'll go through. Zenit were always gonna drag it out, it'll happen on 1st. Feb. Mark my words.
Little Dutch
Ye I agree LD, why would Zenit sell any earlier, they just want the best price they can get, but they won't keep him past the window.
ArsenalRob
if it does go through LD, i'll get yu absolutely anything yu want from here when im london this year. im so frustrated, just want him to join us asap..
luckys_10
What has LD done to deserve that? ;-) Im the one bringing you all the info! :D
Tom14
what do yu want eh? it's yours sweetheart lol... just make Ashravin a gooner now :p
