Our-shavin's A Gooner - At Last

Arsenal have signed Russian play maker, Andrei Arshavin, at last, in the closing stages of this Janurary's transfer window.

The deal has been frantically thrashed out in the last hours to bring Arshavin to North London, bringing an end to one of the longest and most frustrating transfer deals in living memory (I feel like I've said that before).

The on-off deal came to a climax this morning after 'Double A' was pictured outside a Hertfordshire hotel this morning admist rumours the transfer was amost complete, then disaster struck as the player had apparently driven to the airport after talks apparnetly broke down.

However in a dramatic late twist the two clubs came to an agreement and Arsene Wenger got his man and thousands of Arsenal fans breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Vital Arsenal would like to welcome Andrei to North London and wish him the best of luck in his Arsenal career.

still not convinced, lol, not after this month

I would like to say, I am going to the loo. Its been a long time sitting here in dire need of a toilet trip.
Tom14
I have had to tipex "F5" on my keyboard .... I've worn the frigger out!!
Rocky7
what source is this from Rocky? its not on arsenal.com
TPowell
Registration papers have been sent by Arsenal and recieved by the PL!!
Rocky7
How do you know this and where is the confirmation?
Professor Calculus
Oh F5 = Refresh? I didn't know that! Been using Ctrl + R this whole time! Darn, if only I had known this before this Arsh thing, and the Nasri thing, and the Baptista thing before that.
GoonerLou
There would have to be a disaster for the deal not to be completed now .... I took a shot :)
Rocky7
Yeah Rocky, but didn't that disaster happen earlier today already? lol
GoonerLou
I knew it was going to happen so I was calm and relaxed. After Wenger mentioned AA one too many times in his post match interviews, it became bloody apparent. Why the big fuss about AA I still don't understand, spending 15 mil on a player nowadays is well short of a 'statement of intent'. I'm surprised that there is no CM signing as we still don't know the extent of Diaby's injury which leaves us with two relatively experienced CMs atm: Song and Denilson. Yes Nasri can play there and so can Ramsey but the first one opens up a spot on the wing (I don't expect AA to hit the ground running just yet) while the latter isn't ready for the big time, as seen from the Cardiff game. Even our back-up everything Eboue is injured. Nevertheless, interesting developments.

You may have spoken too soon. This is from the BBC.com - 1721: Arsenal fans, don't look: One of our news agencies is claiming that Zenit and the Gunners have failed to reach a deal on the transfer of Andrei Arshavin. It is only one source, though, so we will try and get more on that as and when we have it.
Gooner_Vin
apparently fallen through.. sky sports
Unwell
I think our team will be: Almunia; Sagna - Gallas - Djourou - Clichy; Eboue - Nasri - Denilson - Arshavin; van Persie - Adebayor. Or even Song in the middle with Nas or Arsh on the right.
Tom14
Can't believe it. AP news agency quotes a Zenit spokesperson staying that Arsenal and Zenit have failed to agree a deal.
Gooner_Vin
Tomf you're just talking about the Spurs game right?
GoonerLou
What's that noise...Rocky chomping his own fingernails I think!
Andy-bayor
Fingernails? I've got stumps on my hands .... and that proved difficult typing up my retraction!! lol
Rocky7
Hasn't SSN just said that the Zenit spokesman came out and announced the deal's dead?!?!?! WTF are Zenit, such a joke club!!
GoonerLou
Explanation Rocky? What's going on then, the papers were either sent or not.
Professor Calculus
Rocky, why the hell did you post this? Its ok for others to do so but you sounded certain. Shame mate, I didn't like it in the first place to be honest.
Tom14
Apparently Zenit came out with this as one last attack to force AA to give them back that 2m or whatever amount.
GoonerLou
No point in believing anything until that photo of AW with AA holding up his new Arsenal shirt show up on Arsenal.com
SUX2BU
I guess this is the problem with following Sky Sports News - you get both positive and negative 'news' and you can't be sure if either is true. You have to think that it would have happened and be announced by now by Arsenal if it had been done.
Gooner_Vin
i have to say, i never thought this deal would happen, i'm a spurs fan and all through the summer we were supposed to be signing him but his club are a *****ing joke. they don't want him to go anywhere and every time a team thinks they have an agreement in place they move the goal posts. i genuinlly am gutted for you as i'd have liked to have seen him in the prem.
showstopper
Lou, Zenit a joke club?!?!?! Think again, its Arsenal that comes out as the joke club.
gunnerkid107
The PL extended the deadline apparently because of snowstorms in the UK - players couldn't take medicals, etc. so that may perhaps be adding to the confusion. Is it snowing over there or something? Just saw a photo of Mike Foster for the first time - My God does it ever look like his face met the working end of a sledge hammer!
SUX2BU
Yeah Gkid, eggs in face and all that (for sites and news agents and clubs involved). But don't you think they way they conduct business is incredibly amateur too?!? Worse than Marseille and Nasri's bloody agent?
GoonerLou
Yes but since they own Arshavin's rights they have the privilege to act like that.
gunnerkid107
I'm sick of this crap. I'm logging off. Arsene, wake me up when the deal is done. Arsene is right. We don't need a saviour, we need about 4 SAVIOURS. It's a joke telling the fans there are not many players out there of good enough quality to play for Arsenal and they have to be super super class to improve this squad. I am sorry but i don't see Real, Milan and Co falling over themselves to prise Diaby, Eboue and the merry gang out of our hands and away from Arsenal.
Gael-Force
He musnt be good enough for you after all
HuddersfieldYiddo
HY, are you bringing Campbell back?
Gael-Force
You think anyone will notice if I sticky this one at the top of the page when the official announcement is made?? LOL
Rocky7
lol Please also remove my rants while you're at it Rocky.
GoonerLou
soz are Rocky. Big bad mo fo wiv all the info ;-) Good job sir, not your fault that the rest of the Media hate us :D
