'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arshavin Struggling With Fitness

Arsenal new boy Andrey Arshavin has admitted that he's struggling to come to terms with the fitness levels needed to compete in the Premiership.

The English league has long been considered one of the fastest and most physically demanding leagues in the world, and the Russian says match fitness is a problem.

'Even before the end of the first half I felt as if I had spat my lungs out, It was a hard match for me. In the second half my legs simply refused to serve me.' Said Double A.

'I am not physically strong enough yet to play the whole of the match.'

The fact that Andrey came to Arsenal without any competitive football under his belt for a few months can't have helped matters, but on the plus side once he does get fit he should be extremely fresh for the 'business end of the season'.

I don't think we'll see the real AA until next season, and I think Wenger knows that too.

I hope to God that we can keep this squad as it is, without losing anyone in the summer. I also hope we will get the needed additions. And get them early, so they all go into pre-season together. Then I reckon we'll have a chance to shine again.

Looks like Arsene is trying to get AA as fit as possible as quickly as possible. No mercy it seems. lol

He did last the full 90 mins last night, so thats a positive. So far, he seems to have a stronger 1st half, for the reasns mentioned above, but the lad is quality. I'm impressed by him and his first goal is only a matter of time coming. His confidence will be even higher after that.

He doesn't need to be too fit to swing in dangerous balls - did anyone see how he took the ball and placed it before crossing for Kolo to head in? His body language was "I'll take this and I'll show you how easy it is to swing in a simple bloody cross, that curls in just the right way"

It's going to take time for the lad to adjust to the pace of the Premier League. Next season you will see if he was a good buy or not.
